Chapter 1079 You Can't Help Me

"Oh? Young man, in this bitter cold, are you just standing here spacing out? Aren't you afraid of catching a chill?"

A kind voice suddenly sounded behind Lin Xiao.

Lin Xiao shook his head. "Old sir, I'm in good health, I won't catch a chill."

He had sensed someone approaching long ago, but this person had no cultivation at all. Judging by their footsteps, they were clearly advanced in years, so Lin Xiao hadn't paid much attention.

He hadn't expected this old gentleman to strike up a conversation with him.

"I'm not some old gentleman. I'm quite young, only sixty-five this year," the old man immediately retorted.

"I'm not exactly young either, already pushing thirty."

Lin Xiao said casually.

Then, the two looked at each other, and finally, this man who wasn't an old gentleman sat down beside Lin Xiao. "Interesting, what's the matter? You look like you've encountered some trouble."

"You could say that."

Lin Xiao was noncommittal. His affairs were not suitable to share with everyone. Judging by this old gentleman's demeanor, he likely wanted to counsel him.

"I've worked for many years, and I don't have many skills left to show for it, except for a discerning eye that's incredibly accurate at judging people. Looking at you, it seems you have something you're hiding and don't want to talk about," the old man said earnestly. "I'm sixty-five now, much older than you, and I've experienced much more. You can tell me a part of it, and perhaps I can offer some advice."

Lin Xiao didn't know what this old gentleman's former profession was, but from his behavior, he suspected he had done a lot of mediation work.

"Really, no need. My matters are not easy to speak of," Lin Xiao hastily declined the elder's good intentions.

"Don't worry, I understand. You young people often don't want to talk about certain things with people you know. I'm just a stranger passing by, like a message in a bottle. Tell me, and I'll try to offer some guidance."

The old man seemed to have become more enthusiastic. He continued to act as if he wanted to counsel Lin Xiao.

Lin Xiao's head was filled with black lines. What was going on with this old man? Why was he so persistent?

After repeatedly refusing, he could only say helplessly, "Then, old sir, I can only tell you a little."

"Good."

The old man's eyes finally showed a look of satisfaction. What couldn't a young man's troubles be solved? It was rare to see such a stranger here. He figured it was likely a descendant of some family who had encountered a setback in their career or love life. If he counseled them well, perhaps he would have an excuse to fish more often in the future.

"My entire family is dead."

Lin Xiao said.

"Oh, I see. If that's the case..."

The old man's words came to an abrupt halt. He stared at Lin Xiao, paused for a second, and then said, "You... you can't joke about something like that!"

"Of course, I'm not joking."

Lin Xiao shook his head. "This is all I can tell you, old sir. I don't think you can help me with anything, nor are you able to."

Having said that, Lin Xiao prepared to leave.

But before he had taken two steps, the old man quickly walked up. "Young, the only survivor of your entire family, and you can enter this residential area. The person who meets these conditions in Dragon Country should only be one person."

The old man's gaze fixed intently on Lin Xiao. "You are the sole survivor of the Lin family, Lin Xiao."
