"I'll remember you, niece-in-law. If this works out, you'll be my savior, like a mother to me. You can count on me for anything from now on, I'll go through fire and water for you!" Uncle Seven's eyes darted around as soon as he heard this. His pathetic demeanor vanished instantly.
"..."
Ming Yi didn't know what to say to his Uncle Seven anymore. After bidding farewell, he took Shi Yiling to school.
"Your Uncle Seven, he seems a bit naive," Shi Yiling said, with a headache. "What era is this? Does he really think that driving a fancy car and parking it outside a school will make girls approach him? It's too unrealistic."
"He's actually out for the first time," Ming Yi replied noncommittally. They would know if it was realistic soon enough.
After all, the car he was driving was considered fancy. While it wasn't a particularly rare sports car, the Mercedes-Benz logo was easily recognizable, especially to girls who didn't pay much attention to cars. For them, Mercedes-Benz symbolized luxury and expense.
"I hope when the time comes to introduce him to nice girls, he doesn't scare them away," Shi Yiling worried. "Forget it, it's better not to introduce him. Otherwise, my girlfriends will resent me."
"You're exaggerating, aren't you?"
Would they really resent her over something like this?
"Not at all! It's like pushing them into a fiery pit!"
Shi Yiling said dramatically.
Alas, poor Uncle Seven.
It seemed his single days were destined to be extended.
In Shi Yiling's eyes, Uncle Seven's situation was a fiery pit, and that was even knowing him. If it were other girls... they might be inclined to avoid him at all costs?
The car soon stopped at the school gate.
"I'm going to school first! I'll text you when school's out tonight!" Shi Yiling said, her face blushing slightly. She quickly pecked Ming Yi on the cheek and then got out of the car, hurrying into the school.
Ming Yi rubbed his face, then rolled down the car window and waved goodbye to her.
Just as Shi Yiling subconsciously turned to wave back at Ming Yi, she saw something that made her immediately turn around and run back.
"Hey, handsome, wanna get acquainted? Be friends?" A girl with heavy makeup, wearing a leather jacket and black stockings, was standing by Ming Yi's car. The weather was a little over ten degrees Celsius, and she had only thrown on a knitted cardigan. There seemed to be a mark on her neck, resembling a "hickey."
"Uh..." Ming Yi hadn't expected to be hit on while he was just waving goodbye to his fiancée. Moreover, this girl had so aggressively approached him after just one glance.
He was a bit flustered by the girl's forwardness.
It was at this moment that Shi Yiling rushed back, her steps quick.
She quickly stepped between the woman and Ming Yi.
"He's my fiancé!"
Shi Yiling declared loudly, staking her claim.
"Oh."
The girl, understanding, then walked into the school.
"This person is actually a fellow student of mine?!" Shi Yiling felt it was utterly ridiculous. How had she never seen such a female schoolmate before!
"Alright, it's time to go to class. Don't be late," Ming Yi said calmly.
"This is infuriating! So people like that really exist!" Shi Yiling thought of what she had said in the car earlier, which made her even angrier.
