Chapter 33: Chapter 33

"Greater good? That, I’d like to know."

Eric’s voice was a low growl, his expression set in grim determination.

"Most certainly. All three of you are going to die anyway. A glimpse of the grand plan won’t hurt,"

Brygo said, his words unnervingly calm. He rubbed his hands together before pulling out a pair of dark gloves and meticulously putting them on, his eyes never leaving Eric and Yelena.

"Murdering billions? You call that a grand plan? Madness!"

Eric’s voice rose, a raw, defiant roar. He grimaced, straining against the thick, cutting bonds.

"Madness? You mistake vision for insanity, Eric,"

Brygo replied, his voice calm yet dripping with unshakable conviction.

"You see, this universe, this... broken, dying, inefficient... thing, it is beyond saving. It is teeming with disorder, pain, and ruin. What else is there but a merciful death for it?"

"You’re delusional,"

Eric snarled, his eyes blazing with fury.

"The universe doesn’t need you or anyone else to play god or make decisions for it! It’s fine just the way it is. People are flawed, yes, but that’s what makes them who they are. Worthy."

"Worthy? Worthy of what, exactly? Of suffering? Of endless cycles of war, famine, despair?"

Brygo’s voice deepened, filled with a dark, twisted certainty.

"The fools who believe in progress only drag the universe deeper into its inevitable end. Can you not see? This universe, your precious universe... is diseased. And my Liege... The High Monarch is its cure."

His response triggered a sense of cold anger and profound irritation in Eric. He stared at Brygo, a deep, concentrated hatred burning in his gaze. He tried to understand this deranged universe messiah act, but the words felt hollow and insane.

"He’s no savior. He’s a criminal. You think destroying everything is mercy? You’re wrong."

Yelena finally spoke up, her eyes blazing with controlled fury.

"Pardon my curiosity... deep shit, but I have to ask. Where’s the Nebulux?"

her voice and expression were calm and cold, cutting through the tense atmosphere.

Brygo’s lips began to curl into a smile. The smile became a giggle, and the giggle swelled into a manic, high pitched laughter.

He placed a hand on his forehead, his body shaking with it for a few moments before he suddenly stopped and put on a serious look once more.

"The Nebulux Core holds the power to reset everything. We have studied it for decades; it’s not a mere machine. Its power is ultimately underrated, and with it, we will burn away the corruption of existence. Every star, every planet, every being... all will be erased in an instant. And from that ashes, a new universe will rise... clean, pure, without flaw."

Brygo said, motioning his hands in sync with his words, as if shaping the cosmos itself.

"You’re insane! You’re talking about genocide on a bloody cosmic scale!"

Eric launched back, his eyes wide, his mind racing with disbelief.

"Ah, but you misunderstand, Eric. This is not genocide. This is mercy. A mercy that the universe so desperately needs. It has failed. It is too far gone, and it cannot heal itself."

Brygo replied, his voice low and patient, as if explaining a simple truth to a child.

"This is not about killing, it is about liberation. We will free everything from its endless struggle. Do you not see? A universe where suffering ends, where lives are not defined by violence, decay, or technology... it will be perfection."

"Its so bloody obvious you lot are out of your goddamn mind and besides, I would rather suck on a cock every last day of my life than bow to your twisted mercy. we’re putting an end to all this."

Eric sparked, an ugly frown on his face as he gazed seriously at Brygo.

Standing up from his seat once again, Brygo went silent, his face holding a serious look as he stepped closer to Eric.

"You are so blind to what is before you. Every choice you’ve made, every victory, every loss... it’s all known and part of a system that’s been decaying for eons. Your battles, your so called heroes from NEXUS... all you do is delay the inevitable."

Brygo said, his head raised high, voice calm and sharp, hands behind him as he stood with confidence.

"The truth is simple, my friend. The universe as it is cannot be fixed. And so, we will wipe it away. And once it is gone, once the new dawn rises, The High Monarch will be its shepherd. He will lead it into a new era. An era of eternal peace, free from conflict, free from chaos, free from the weight of its own destruction."

Brygo added.

"You all will see. When he ignites the Nebulux Core and everything is burned away, you will know that what we’ve done is for the betterment of all. Your ideals of life and struggle, so quaint, will be but dust in the new order. The universe will be better without its brokenness. And in the end, you will thank me... you will thank him, for the mercy he gave it."

He said lastly, his voice low and almost reverent.

At that moment, Eric was filled with all kinds of negative emotions, anger, disdain, irritation, and frustration toward the scarred face Brygo. But at the same time, he saw a disturbing sincerity in his words.

Brygo didn’t show a single sign of lying or joking, he sounded plausible, and that disturbed Eric greatly. The whole point of his struggle was for his daughter, whom he wanted to see again after so many years. Now, someone seemed to threaten that plan and possibly get his daughter killed for real this time due to a mad, selfish agenda.

"You sound very confident for someone who has the whole NEXUS fleet up on their neck,"

Yelena spoke, breaking the little silence with a calm and cold voice.

"We already found you. How are you sure it won’t end the same with your coward Monarch before he pulls the pin?"

she added, her face without expression.

"You’re just being hopeful. Hope is a luxury the universe can no longer afford. And you, my dear super soldier, will witness the beginning of its final, merciful end."

Brygo replied, turning to face the wall as he walked towards it.

The wall changed its form, revealing a huge catalog of brutal melee weapons hanging in segments on it, ranging from knives to triple rotating blades to bone crushing weapons.

"Now shall we get to the killing you three. I prefer picking the right weapon for the right cause,"

Brygo said, getting to the wall as he began selecting different objects.

And after a long time, Jimmy finally woke up. Just like Eric had experienced, his vision was blurry and his head spinning as he raised his head, blinking and trying to recognize his environment.

He looked left and right, his heart pounding in his chest. With his vision finally clear, he looked to his left and saw Yelena tied. To his right was Eric, tied. And then he realized, he too, was tied to a pole.

With the full realization of their situation, he raised his head, his eyes widening.

"Oh God, no, not again"

Jimmy said to himself, the danger of the situation finally kicking in.
