Chapter 58

Chapter 58: Chapter 58

After putting away the list Iritel left him, Mart went out to tour the Academy, and although every time he disappeared and reappeared the rumors followed the constant criticism against him he found it surprising how the situation had taken a strange turn.

"I heard he’s cursed."

"It wasn’t a cursed book."

"That bastard deserves it"

"The restricted library is so dangerous."

Mart who had to listen to the rumors was surprised at how fast the information was circulating, there were even some rumors that he studied curses, those rumors about curses seemed annoying to him, as he thought that in order to curse effectively, no one should suspect who it was that conjured the curse, and now a few were already calling him a warlock.

Mart entered the cafeteria and before he could eat he was approached by Nirian’s follower, who arrived somewhat agitated.

-Young Mart, Miss Nirian wishes to see you.

"How fast the information circulates," Mart nodded and had to follow Nirian’s follower, although in his mind he was thinking, "if everything goes as I hope, I will receive 500 000 gold coins, that would not be bad at all; Miss Nirian has become my bank account.

[Greed trait activated: you will get double everything you earn].

Mart saw the labyrinth area again, they were guided by a smartly dressed minotaur and arrived in less time than the previous two times.

Arriving at the dome, Mart saw a silver-haired sorceress wearing a tight-fitting dress that showed off her exquisite curves and as it was also somewhat low-cut, it showed a small mole on one of the breasts of the pale white-skinned almost ghostly sorceress, whose eyes were gray, and had a black horn in the middle of her forehead.

"She must be from a branch of the Alcariz lineage," Mart thought as he took a seat.

-It is an honor, Miss Alcariz. Have we reached an agreement? -Mart asked without wasting any time.

-My father sent this. -Nirian handed Mart a small silver box.

Inside, there was a ring in which 1,000,000 gold coins were stored, and some sheets of paper.

-Do you want a list of the people I want to protect? -Mart asked, looking questioningly at Nirian and the sorceress. -I will only say that I hope that no one who does not possess the corrosive energy will be arbitrarily investigated, only in case of investigation, I will use my right to watch over the people I consider important.

-That wouldn’t be right, that would allow you to save anyone at any time; you know if this gets to the Republican council, they won’t be so considerate? -indicated Nirian.

"Well, if they do that, I don’t think we’ll last more than 7 years," thought Mart, who was not rude, and prayed:

"Alvat is witness to my silence.

In safeguarding the important people

On this day I will take an oath:

I swear that with respect to this deal

I will neither add nor subtract

To the people I will protect with this deal."

The dark ring appeared on Mart’s index finger, and the sorceress looked at it.

As the full payment was handed to her, Mart gave the third of the information, after reviewing it thoroughly, the sorceress asked firmly:

-Are you sure that every person here is corroded by corrosive energy?

-Yes, if you wish you can investigate anyone, I will take full responsibility, as long as you take into account what I wrote down, because there are students with a lower concentration of corrosive energy. -Mart answered naturally.

-How do you know that? -asked the sorceress.

- That I cannot say for the moment, until I conclude the pact in a satisfactory way for all of us who are making the pact. -said Mart.

"This young man is not the stupid and disrespectful young man the rumors said," thought the sorceress, who only nodded and then took out of her demonic ring two demonic crystals and infused them with demonic energy, which allowed two holographic images to become present. After a short while Mart bowed to Director Persec and Archduke Alcariz, before him stood two important figures from the land of demons.

-You may sit down. -Said Director Persec.

"Wow, this Nirian does everything fast or her father is the same; I feel like I was set up why didn’t the oath work?", thought Mart when he saw two important figures ready

-Young Mart Sevec, don’t worry, all of us present swore an oath before Alvat to keep this confidential. -Said Director Persec.

-Now, we will all swear to respect Mart Sevec’s request, we will not interfere in any way with the life and tranquility of the important people that Mart Sevec has sworn to protect with this pact. -Archduke Alcariz expressed firmly, and soon after all present swore and Mart saw everyone show their index fingers with the shadowy ring around it.

After the oath, Mart handed them all the information he had in the notebooks, because since he began to see the students corroded by the energy of the demon god, he used an additional notebook to write down the profiles of each of those corroded students, the one in charge of receiving them was the sorceress Lila.

After several seconds of suspense, the sorceress Lila announced firmly but with some urgency:

-This is quite detailed information, if what is here is true, both the Academy and the city are in danger. We must prudently corroborate it as soon as possible.

Mart watched the headmaster slyly, at first he found it hard to believe that the headmaster knew nothing, but now he corroborated that the demon god energy seemed hard to detect. However, Mart wondered how quickly they would act.

"They’ll give me time to even buy the level 5 pills, I have the money now; if only I hadn’t been caught up in the middle of this discussion, but going right away would be strange," thought Mart who looked at Nirian who seemed quite interested in the actions both her father and Director Persec would take.

-Those traitors attacked my daughter, we must be careful, in order to catch or eradicate most of them. -The archduke indicated with an irrefutable tone.

-It is true what you say, but we must be prudent, do you think they will not notice if we act and lock them up, maybe they will make an abyssal invocation", if their objective is the academy and the students. -The director indicated with a calm tone that did not cease to be imposing.

"Abyssal summoning what is that?", Mart was internally puzzled to hear terms that obviously suggested great danger.

After the discussion had gone on for a little over an hour, the duke suggested in his commanding voice:

-We must corroborate the information in the next few days, and prepare our trusted men; so that if we prove the information to be true, we will be ready to attack. Director, I think you will agree with that?

"I agree with that; maybe that will give me enough time to obtain the level five dark shadow pill," Mart thought after hearing the archduke’s suggestion.

Director Persec, who looked thoughtful, finally accepted the suggestion and they began to structure the plan to dismantle the network of conspirators that had engulfed the Academy and part of the city. It was before Archduke Alcariz, Director Persec and the sorceress Lila began to plan the strategy against the conspirators that Mart was allowed to leave the labyrinth, and now he had more questions and fewer answers.
