Chapter 513 A Desperate Gamble

She rushed forward in three quick steps, intending to pull the woman from Wang Wansan’s embrace. To her surprise, Wang Wansan lifted a leg and ruthlessly kicked Liu Jia away.

The kick caught her off guard, fierce and powerful, landing directly in Liu Jia’s lower abdomen. Liu Jia staggered back two steps and fell directly to the ground.

Watching Liu Jia’s dishevelled and dust-covered state, the women in Wang Wansan’s arms let out shrill, mocking laughter.

“Isn’t this woman shameless? Just looking for trouble!”

“Exactly. She comes to stir up trouble, without even knowing her own limits. Pretending to be a saint, acting so high and mighty?”

Liu Jia could no longer hear what they were saying. Only one word echoed in her mind: hatred.

Bone-chilling hatred! This hatred almost tore her reason to shreds. She truly wanted to rush forward and kill these people with her own hands.

But her reason warned her not to. She had to endure humiliation, she had to continue to be patient. Even if her teeth were broken now, she had to swallow them back. Only by doing so could she have a chance to rise again.

Liu Jia gritted her teeth, and slowly stood up, leaning against the wall. A cold smile touched her lips. She no longer made any moves or yelled curses. Instead, she simply stared at the three people on the sofa with a chilling, fierce gaze.

“What, what are you looking at me like that for?” Wang Wansan felt uneasy under her gaze and stuttered, “Keep looking, and I’ll dig your eyeballs out!”

This was actually just a threat. Wang Wansan certainly wouldn’t dig out Liu Jia’s eyeballs. He said this merely to frighten Liu Jia.

To Wang Wansan’s astonishment, Liu Jia still wore that strange smile, staring at him without blinking.

Wang Wansan’s heart chilled. Had this woman lost her mind from too much stimulation? If she had gone mad, it would be troublesome. Because a mad person had lost all reason and might do anything crazy.

“Take this and get lost!” Wang Wansan reached towards the side of the sofa, where his suit jacket lay. After fumbling for a while, he pulled a stack of bank cards from his suit pocket, then took one out and tossed it towards Liu Jia.

Liu Jia didn’t reach out to catch it, letting the bank card fall to her feet. She lowered her head, gazing at the card, lost in thought for a long time.

As things stood, the situation was settled, and she had no power to change it. Lingering here would only be a waste of her time. She needed to think of another way out.

With this thought, Liu Jia sighed softly. Holding her aching lower abdomen, she bent down carefully, picked up the bank card, and examined it closely in her palm.

“What are you looking at? Take the money and get out. Do you think I’d give you a fake bank card?” Wang Wansan couldn’t be bothered to look at her anymore.

Liu Jia gritted her teeth and turned to leave, unwillingly.

The moment the private room door closed behind Liu Jia, laughter and chatter resumed within the room. The sounds of giggling and playful banter intermittently reached Liu Jia’s ears, and she found them exceptionally jarring.

So, she quickened her pace, heading towards the elevator. But as she walked, her steps slowed. Finally, she stopped, standing still like a statue.

After a long while, she realized she was crying.

Crystal clear, large tears poured out like a torrential downpour, then streamed down her bruised and swollen face. Those tears, after reaching her chin, some dripped to the ground, some landed on her collar.

In any case, those tears eventually disappeared.

Liu Jia stared at her toes and slowly squatted down, curling into a ball. She suddenly felt that her life was like those tears, fleeting.

“Ah, I actually know all of it,” she murmured intermittently through her tears. “I know I am a humble and insignificant person, like grit and dust. But why must heaven force me into such a situation?”

And why was heaven so unfair? Liu Jia suddenly didn’t understand.

Why was her life destined to be as small and humble as grit, like dust, while some people were born to shine like starlight, dazzling and brilliant?

Why must she endure all the humiliation, hardship, and disdain, while others could enjoy glory, affection, and praise with a clear conscience?

Why were all these things so? Could someone answer her?

Liu Jia’s face contorted with extreme pain. She reached out her hands and tightly clasped her head. At this moment, she wanted to scream, to shout, to run. She wanted to vent all the suppressed anger, pain, unwillingness, and grievance in her heart…

But in the end, she held back.

However, her fingernails had dug into her palms, breaking the skin. Bright red blood flowed from her palms, dripping onto the ground, splashing into small marks.

In extreme despair, a flash of cunning flickered in her tear-filled eyes.

No, no! She hadn’t lost yet. Besides Wang Wansan, she still had a final ‘trump card’. There was still someone who could help her – President Li. He could definitely save her!

She had already suffered a complete defeat at Wang Wansan’s hands. As for President Li, her last pillar of support, she had to hold onto him tightly and not make any further mistakes.

The hotel where the private room was located was not far from President Li’s company, about a ten-minute walk away.

Liu Jia had initially planned to walk there, but on second thought, that wouldn’t do. What if she was spotted by paparazzi or someone she knew? She was bruised and battered, looking as pathetic as could be.

Therefore, she decided to take a taxi to President Li’s company.

To cover the redness and swelling on her face, she put on the sunglasses she had prepared in her bag before entering President Li’s company.

After putting them on, she walked with her head held high towards the reception desk. Although she had just gone through some ‘incidents’ not long ago, she knew that her ‘spirit’ absolutely could not be extinguished.

To Liu Jia’s surprise, before she even reached the reception desk, she was stopped by the security guard at the entrance.

“Miss, unauthorized personnel are not allowed to enter our company.”

Liu Jia knitted her brows slightly and turned to look at the guard who spoke. This guard had a standard square face, with large brown freckles scattered across his cheekbones. She recognized this guard.

“Uncle Zhang, it’s me, Liu Jia. Don’t you remember? I’ve been here many times!” Liu Jia took off her sunglasses, revealing a sweet smile.
