Chapter 341 You Are Not Asleep Either

She sighed, the rest was up to the butler. Her task of contacting the outside world was complete, and now she had to return to the cave to check on Sheng Chenjin.

When she came back to her senses, she realized she had climbed to an extremely steep slope. How would she get down now? She had managed to climb up with her hands and feet while limping, but it would be dangerous to just jump down. There was no other way, she had to grit her teeth and go down. She couldn't possibly leave Sheng Chenjin alone in the cave.

Shi Xinxin tried to carefully move her uninjured foot. As she decided to jump, she seemed to have anticipated the outcome. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes tightly.

As expected, her jump didn't land steadily as she had predicted. Fortunately, she was mentally prepared and quickly retracted her foot, rolling down the slope in a ball.

She had protected her head tightly, so she didn't hit any large rocks on the slope. She rolled down like a ball and, after releasing her body, found that she wasn't seriously injured.

Shi Xinxin actually smiled. She didn't know she had such capabilities. Although it was late, neither of them had drunk any water, and her phone was dead. Otherwise, she could have used its flashlight function to find some food.

Now, she could only return to the cave to get a fire source. As she returned to the cave, she vaguely heard Sheng Chenjin groaning. Was he in too much pain? Shi Xinxin hurried closer.

"What's wrong? Where are you uncomfortable?"

"Xinxin, Xinxin..."

When Shi Xinxin drew closer, she heard Sheng Chenjin whisper her name in a faint voice. "I'm here, I'm right beside you. I'm not going anywhere."

"Listen to my explanation, don't just leave like this." In his daze, Sheng Chenjin blurted out what he most wanted to say to Shi Xinxin.

Unable to control herself, Shi Xinxin shed tears. Why was he so foolish to chase her all the way here, only to say nothing upon arrival?

"Why are you so silly? I'm listening, I'm listening. Can you just not talk for now? I'll stay here with you." She looked towards the cave entrance. It was already dark outside, and even with a fire source, the light wouldn't be enough for her to find any food.

It was better to stay with him. Sheng Chenjin held her hand tightly. For the first time in a long time, she felt that Sheng Chenjin needed her so much.

Although he couldn't say it, he was unconscious. Yet, he was still thinking about explaining himself to her, which showed how much he wanted to clear up this misunderstanding.

Due to a day of hunger, and having given her only warm jacket to Sheng Chenjin, Shi Xinxin's body gradually felt the chill.

She unknowingly leaned against Sheng Chenjin and fell asleep. In her dream, she vaguely felt herself being lifted, and the surroundings grew warmer. When she woke up again, she was in a hospital room.

She blinked, and after her eyes adjusted to the light, she looked around. It was clearly a hospital room, but much more luxurious than an ordinary hospital.

She was alone. An IV drip was attached to her hand. She looked up along the IV tube; the drip was almost finished. Did she need to call a nurse herself?

But there was no call button by the bed. As she was contemplating, the door opened, and a nurse walked in. "Miss, you're awake. Are you feeling any better?"

Shi Xinxin nodded and struggled to sit up. After the nurse changed the IV bag, she quickly came over to help her and prop up the pillow.

"Where is the gentleman who was with me? Where is he?" Shi Xinxin's body was still weak, and she felt groggy. She rubbed her forehead and asked anxiously.

"That gentleman is in the room next door. Because of an infected wound, he had a high fever for a long time. This morning, the fever finally subsided. He should still be sleeping."

"Can you take me to see him?" Shi Xinxin pleaded.

"Of course." The nurse obediently pushed a wheelchair from the corner of the room, helped her remove the IV bag, and pushed Shi Xinxin to the adjacent room.

The layout of the two rooms was exactly the same. The sun was shining through the window, illuminating the hospital bed where a person lay, breathing evenly. An IV drip was also attached to his hand, just like Shi Xinxin's.

"Is he still very serious?" Shi Xinxin asked the nurse softly. "He's out of danger now. After he wakes up, you two can have a full physical examination together. If there are no major issues, you can go home to recuperate."

Shi Xinxin nodded. After a while, she turned to the nurse and said, "Can I stay here with him? Please."

"But you also need to rest in bed," the nurse explained patiently.

"But if I don't see him, I can't rest well either." The nurse smiled. "Alright then, if you feel unwell, call me anytime."

The nurse pushed her to Sheng Chenjin's bedside and then left the room.

This must have been the butler's doing. The butler must have found them. Shi Xinxin smiled. If they weren't in a hospital room, how beautiful would this scene be?

The sunlight outlined Sheng Chenjin's features with a golden edge: thick eyebrows, deep-set eyes, a high nose, and sensual lips.

Shi Xinxin's gaze, unintentionally, couldn't move away again.

"Are you being this bold now?" Sheng Chenjin suddenly spoke, startling Shi Xinxin, whose hand on the bed immediately retracted.

"You're not asleep either?"

Sheng Chenjin slowly opened his eyes. "Even if I were asleep, your intense gaze would have woken me up."

He said it jokingly, and Shi Xinxin's face instantly flushed red again. "What are you talking about?"

"Am I? Wasn't someone staring at me just now?"

"Who's staring at you? Don't be so narcissistic."

"Whether I'm narcissistic or not, you can ask the person in question." Sheng Chenjin looked pointedly at Shi Xinxin, who also glanced at him furtively before quickly averting her gaze.

"I just happened to glance at you. Don't be narcissistic. When I woke up, I realized I was alone in the room. I thought they hadn't found you. Who knew they told me you were next door, so I just came to see you."

Shi Xinxin stammered, not telling Sheng Chenjin that she had come specifically for him. However, her lying skills were too amateurish for Sheng Chenjin.

Moreover, Sheng Chenjin had just overheard her entire conversation with the nurse. Sheng Chenjin didn't even bother to expose such a lie.

"How could that be? Weren't you by my side in the cave the whole time? We were holding hands. If they found you, they would definitely find me."
