Sheng Chenjin told her everything he had seen in the laboratory.
As he spoke, Yan Hao secretly clenched his fist, his mind a whirlwind of complex emotions.
Yin Xue finally recovered after a long moment. She lowered her gaze, nodded, her face pale and exhausted, but every word she uttered was resolute, "That's right, I came here specifically for information on human experimentation. I've been searching for clues for so many years, and I must expose this horrifying experiment to the public!"
Shi Xinxin narrowed her eyes, seizing this crucial point to press further, "And how did you learn about the human experiments? Or, for the sake of exposing this experiment, what is your motive?"
Yin Xue's expression gradually calmed. She said in a cold tone, "I was a test subject in this place before."
The words hung in the air, causing it to freeze. Shi Xinxin's arms stiffened. She stood there in disbelief, her slightly widened pupils revealing the shock in her heart.
Fragmented memories flashed through her mind, but she lacked the strength to grasp them. Her fingertips drooped.
Sheng Chenjin was the first to notice Shi Xinxin's distress. He frowned deeply and stepped forward to hold her hand, "Xinxin, what's wrong?"
Shi Xinxin's eyes, like glazed porcelain, became increasingly unfocused. The light seemed to be crushed by an invisible chill in the air. Her gaze was fixed on a distant point, her temples throbbing as if the pain were seeping into her nerves, leaving Shi Xinxin speechless!
"Xinxin! Xinxin!" Sheng Chenjin's frown deepened, his urgency palpable!
Shi Xinxin sensed someone calling her from the outside. She tried with all her might to open her eyes to see, but found she lacked the strength even for that.
She felt like a light plank floating on the vast ocean, completely devoid of strength. As the tide surged, it dragged her weak body, desperately trying to pull her down into the sea...
Sheng Chenjin's hands trembled with anxiety. Usually calm and collected, his eyes were now filled with panic and confusion.
He forced himself to steady his racing heart, embraced Shi Xinxin, and held her trembling body. His voice, with a hint of fear he himself hadn't noticed, said, "It's okay, it's okay. I'm right here with you. Whatever it is, I'll carry it for you."
Yin Xue seemed taken aback by Shi Xinxin's intense reaction. She parted her pale lips, then suddenly remembered something and slowly looked towards the person in the corner.
That man's face was also etched with panic and heartache, but an unbearable pain seemed to emanate from him, forcing him to stand still, lest he be discovered.
A face suddenly flashed in Yin Xue's memory. Her gaze shifted slightly, and she finally saw the man's face clearly.
"Mmm..."
Before Yin Xue could confirm her thoughts, she heard a muffled groan beside her.
She quickly looked over, only to freeze.
Shi Xinxin's face was partially obscured by shadow, her expression one of pain as she bit down hard on Sheng Chenjin's shoulder.
The muffled groan had come from Sheng Chenjin. He calmly patted Shi Xinxin's thin back, his eyes devoid of any pain, filled only with bewilderment and concern.
Yin Xue curved her lips into a wistful smile.
Shi Xinxin, however, was oblivious to anything around her. She vaguely tasted the metallic tang of blood in her mouth.
Biting down on something seemed to loosen the tangled thoughts in her mind. Despite this, Shi Xinxin retreated with all her might, forcing herself to let go.
Suddenly, her shoulder was gently patted, giving Shi Xinxin a sense of infinite security.
His soft voice reached her ears, "If this makes you feel any better, then keep biting. Don't force yourself to do anything you're uncomfortable with."
Shi Xinxin's eyelashes fluttered.
Finally, she seemed unable to resist the pull of the ocean any longer. The crashing waves engulfed her, and the unconscious woman slowly sank to the seabed.
Sensing that the person in his arms was no longer afraid, Sheng Chenjin let out a slow breath and held her tighter.
He looked down and saw Shi Xinxin's closed eyes, appearing asleep. The concern in his eyes gradually faded, replaced by an endless darkness and sharp coldness.
He was once again the king of the business world, unassailable.
And so, Yin Xue watched as his icy gaze swept over them, the invisible pressure in the air converging.
"What exactly is this so-called human experimentation?" His tone was as frigid as ever, making one feel as if they had fallen into a deep freeze.
Yin Xue's face instantly grew somber. She slowly parted her lips, "It's exactly what you're thinking. Using people for experiments. Keeping me in this dark, lightless place, day after day..."
Recalling those painful memories, Yin Xue clenched her teeth, forcing herself to suppress the fear and instinctive avoidance welling up within her.
Sheng Chenjin remained silent, clearly urging her to continue.
Yin Xue took a breath, wanting to end the topic, but seeing Shi Xinxin who had fainted beside her, she couldn't help but feel worried.
She continued nonetheless, "That person kept me here for two hundred and thirty-one days, and I remember every single one of them clearly. Every time he came, he either forced me to take medicine or conducted experiments on my body."
A tragic smile slowly spread across her lips. Yin Xue gritted her teeth, her face hardening with a fierce hatred, wishing she could flay that person alive and devour him!
Sheng Chenjin, whether he absorbed her words or not, looked back towards the person in the corner.
"And you, why don't you also talk about the human experimentation."
Yan Hao's body stiffened completely. Under Sheng Chenjin's gaze, filled with overwhelming pressure, he slowly clenched his fists.
...A suffocating discomfort filled his mind, an indescribable agony.
A black liquid materialized out of thin air, like a sentient monster with eyes and legs, slowly crawling up her limbs.
Shi Xinxin desperately tried to break free from the black water.
No! She couldn't succumb to this endless nightmare. She had to wake up, someone was waiting for her!
As if she had expended all her strength to escape the black water, before Shi Xinxin could catch her breath, the memories gradually reappeared before her.
These fragmented memories flashed before her eyes like movie clips, frame by frame.
Her dream-self slowly widened her eyes, her head throbbing like a needle in that moment!
The memories, which she had subconsciously deemed painful, seemed to linger before her. Shi Xinxin's heart leaped, and she instinctively tried to evade them!
These memories felt like they had been sealed away in her mind for many years. She couldn't see them clearly. She tried to control her fear and reach out to grasp them, but in her state, it was all in vain.
