"Please, Jing Hui, this time you must capture E Xuehai and the Cardinal, and also safely find the police!"
"Don't worry, before I came to find you, I had already investigated the situation here. Young Master, with me here, they can't cause any trouble!"
I knew He Jing Hui was capable, but it was still wise to be cautious. However, seeing the determination in his eyes, I didn't say anything more and continued to follow behind him.
We pressed on, and more tombstones appeared before us. Combined with the surrounding environment and the ancient castle not far away, for a moment, I thought I had returned to medieval Europe.
After an unknown amount of time, a strange sound came from behind us: "Ah! Help, there's a mud pit here!"
We quickly turned back to see a lizard person who, for some reason, had fallen into a pit that looked like a trap.
Several lizard people were already reaching out to help, but the pit was quite deep, and their arms couldn't reach. At this moment, He Xiaoyu suddenly said, "Let me do it!" and plunged directly into the mud pit. With a few "dada" sounds, He Xiaoyu, like a heroine flying from the abyss, pulled the lizard person out. The lizard people and dogs around were all stunned.
After saving the lizard person, He Xiaoyu patted her hands and said, "There should be many more traps in this place. Don't walk too fast, everyone. Let us scout ahead!"
The lizard person thanked us profusely, speaking human words. He Jing Hui, for some reason, became a little impatient and said, "Alright, I suddenly feel uncomfortable talking to lizard people. You should try to remain silent!"
Then, he was the first to move forward, leading the way. We quickly followed. This time, we finally walked out of the graveyard along a small path. At this moment, the deep and terrifying ancient castle loomed above us. We had unexpectedly arrived here, and everyone felt as if they had just woken from a dream.
The castle's layout wasn't very grand. The entrance was even a bit dilapidated, looking like it hadn't been maintained for some time. We walked through a corridor and turned a corner, arriving at a place where water flowed on both sides.
Above the flowing water was a wooden bridge, but this bridge seemed to be bound by iron chains on both sides. Some firewood was floating below, and it might feel unbalanced to walk on it. I originally wanted to tell everyone to be careful, but the high school girl, before we could react, ran onto it with her lizard legs.
Her movement was too fast, and I couldn't even grab her from behind in time. As expected, when she got on the bridge, the situation I imagined occurred. She called out a few times as she swayed precariously, wanting to retreat, but it was too late. For some reason, when the other lizard people saw her in danger, they all rushed forward.
They used their bodies to stand on the wooden bridge, trying to maintain balance. Seeing them like this, I thought of asking He Jing Hui and the others for help, but before I could speak, I found that they had disappeared. Turning to look at the iron chains near the wooden bridge, I realized they were standing on the gears on both sides and pulling with force.
Within a few minutes, the gears started to tighten the suspension bridge. It turned out the imbalance below was due to the loose chains.
Once the wooden bridge stabilized, the lizard people crossed it smoothly, and we followed.
Seeing the two people descend from the gears, the lizard people were astonished. The high school girl even said, "Are you two great heroes?"
He Xiaoyu didn't answer her, but He Xin said, "Don't be surprised, it's nothing unusual. Just don't ask too many questions, they can help everyone!"
"I understand. Without you, we would have been in dire straits. But we shouldn't be involved in these challenges!"
We never intended for them to come along, so since they didn't want to go in, we naturally wouldn't force them.
I asked the high school girl to watch everyone, then exchanged a look with He Jing Hui. We passed through a wooden door of the castle and entered a vast courtyard. Here, there were many specimens resembling sailing ships, all encased in glass display cabinets. Strange patterns were painted on the ground, colorful and intricately composed, their meaning unclear at first glance. However, I noticed some grooves on the cement floor through which water flowed with a gurgling sound. The water was quite murky, suggesting it came from some dirty place.
The grooves were interconnected, but they converged in front of a large sailing ship specimen before branching out in all directions.
I didn't know what the man in black, E Xuehai, was trying to do. It was quiet everywhere.
It made me want to shout, but He Jing Hui silently signaled me to stop. The next second, I realized the display cabinets had started to move. They slid left and right, opening a passage in front of me that led to the castle's main hall. He Xiaoyu was the first to rush in, throwing a few stones into the hall. As soon as they hit, low growls could be heard from inside.
Soon, we realized there were people inside. He Jing Hui exchanged a look with me, signaling me to stay put. He then drew the sword from his back and, along with He Xiaoyu, stepped into the castle hall. He Xin and I kept watch. The next second, screams came from inside.
He Xin and I both covered our eyes at the same time for some reason. We knew that anyone targeted by He Jing Hui and the others was likely doomed.
When He Xiaoyu came out and waved for us to enter, we eagerly followed. Upon entering the hall, we found black-clothed figures lying on the ground. He Xin and I stared at the two of them as if they were monsters.
In less than two minutes, they had taken down so many people. It was incredible.
Amidst our astonishment, He Jing Hui beckoned us, "Young Master, Miss, over here!"
Being called "Miss" for the first time made He Xin quite happy, as it was the first time He Jing Hui had addressed her that way.
Blushing, she was the first to follow him to a room. There seemed to be a corridor leading elsewhere.
We didn't find anything in the room. It looked very ordinary, not like a place where someone lived. In the center stood antique items, and a silver-white statue of Jesus, with its arm raised and head towards the ceiling.
