Chapter 1077: Lan Xuanyu Absorbs Dragon Force
TL: GoldenLung
Bai Xiuxiu instinctively turned her gaze toward Lan Xuanyu. Lan Xuanyu could feel her eyes on him, but he did not look back. Right now, all of Huang Daoqi and his son’s attention was fixed on him alone—this was no time to reveal too much toward Bai Xiuxiu.
A faint smile appeared on Huang Daoqi’s face as he said, “The situation within the Dragon Force Hall is somewhat special. I believe Xiuxiu has already told you what happens after Dragon Force is infused. But I must still remind you—during absorption, you must not grow impatient. Proceed step by step, according to your body’s capacity. Do not overreach, or else there will be mortal danger.”
“Thank you for your reminder. I understand.” Lan Xuanyu nodded slightly toward Huang Daoqi.
In Huang Daoqi’s eyes, although Lan Xuanyu’s cultivation was clearly higher than Bai Xiuxiu’s, he did not believe Lan Xuanyu’s talent necessarily surpassed hers. What he truly valued was Bai Xiuxiu—an exceedingly rare dual-attribute dragon, with boundless potential. That was why he had recognized her as his daughter. Unless forced, he would never activate the Dragon Force shackle within her body. He much preferred to win her recognition through harmonious means; such a bond would benefit the Huang Family far more.
Lan Xuanyu’s strength could be judged directly by his performance within the Dragon Force Hall. This had always been the most reliable method among the Dragon Clan for testing potential. One’s talent was revealed by how much Dragon Force could be absorbed. Xiuxiu’s case—draining the Hall completely on her very first attempt—was almost unheard of.
Stepping into the Dragon Force Hall, Lan Xuanyu immediately felt the strange fluctuations of the surrounding runic patterns. It was as though he had entered another world. Already possessing control over the space element, he could clearly sense the dense spatial fluctuations contained within the runes of the walls, ceiling, and floor.
He did not know where these spatial elements were directed, but he could guess—they must be pointing toward *that space*, the same space that had once called to him.
At present, he had no right to enter that place. But by absorbing Dragon Force here, he might come to understand it further. This was what he most anticipated.
“Father, do I need to step outside?” Bai Xiuxiu asked Huang Daoqi.Huang Daoqi shook his head. “No need. So long as you refrain from actively absorbing Dragon Force, you may remain. You and Yuanlang fall back to the wall.”
“Yes.” Bai Xiuxiu answered quickly, retreating to the side. Of course she didn’t wish to leave—she wanted to observe Lan Xuanyu’s aura changes closely, so that if anything went wrong, she could react at once.
“Step to the center,” Huang Daoqi instructed Lan Xuanyu.
Lan Xuanyu walked slowly to the middle of the Hall, closed his eyes, and quietly felt the energy fluctuations around him, trying to memorize the runes.
With stronger spiritual power came stronger memory—by a large margin. Yet the runes here were incredibly complex, far beyond what could be memorized in one or two attempts. He did not know what kind of fluctuations these runes would trigger when activated, but recording them would undoubtedly aid humanity’s research into soul arrays.
Moreover, he had a bold thought. That strange space was not fully fused with Celestial Dragon Planet—it merely intersected with it, allowing the Dragon Clan to enter. If he mastered the method, could he open a passage to that space from orbit, or even from a warship? This was his true purpose in memorizing these runes.
For now it was only speculation, but one had to plan ahead.
“Be ready—it is about to begin,” Huang Daoqi said in a deep voice, his eyes fixed upon Lan Xuanyu, scrutinizing every change.
How one with sheer strength like Lan Xuanyu would be treated all depended on his performance here. Xiuxiu was different—her dual attributes had made father and son determined to recruit her the moment they discovered it.
At this moment, Huang Yuanlang was no less tense than Bai Xiuxiu. But unlike her, what he prayed for in his heart was that Lan Xuanyu would not absorb too much Dragon Force.
That feeling of love at first sight was growing stronger and stronger within him. If Lan Xuanyu also proved to have heaven-defying talent, it would only make his pursuit more difficult. But if Lan Xuanyu’s aptitude was mediocre, then matters would be far simpler.
Overhead, the enormous crystal at the top of the Dragon Force Hall lit up with a gentle radiance under Huang Daoqi’s activation. Soft Dragon Force cascaded downward from above.
Lan Xuanyu’s body trembled. In that instant, he clearly felt a channel open—Dragon Force pouring down through the crystal toward him. He did not need to act at all; the gentle Dragon Force naturally streamed down onto his body.
The crystal grew brighter and brighter. More and more Dragon Force surged forth, until the entire Hall trembled violently.
Lan Xuanyu’s eyes narrowed slightly. Unlike Xiuxiu, he did not immediately reveal his true form. His long black hair lifted in the currents as he stood like the center of a vortex, absorbing the Dragon Force.
Strangely, as soon as the Dragon Force entered his body, it vanished without a sound—like a stone sinking into the sea. Lan Xuanyu could feel his blood vortex changing slightly under its nourishment, but the changes were faint, far less than what Xiuxiu had experienced.
Why was this? His brows furrowed, and he hastened his absorption.
The blood vortex spun faster and faster, like a great magnet, drawing Dragon Force in faster than it could pour down. Yet even so, his improvements were limited—less than what he had gained when absorbing the Life Source of the Eternal Tree.
A flicker of disappointment arose within him. He had hoped that absorbing Dragon Force here would help him reach the seventh ring sooner. Clearly, while it did help, the effects were far from ideal. And under the Huang father and son’s watchful eyes, he could not come here often.
How could this be?
Focusing his mind, he probed the massive crystal above. Gradually, he gained some understanding.
This crystal served as a filter, screening the Dragon Force before channeling it into the Hall for absorption. In this filtering process, much was blocked on the other side—at the far end of the passage to *that space*. Only a portion entered here for the dragons to absorb.
The reason the Dragon Force’s effect on him was so limited was not because it lacked energy, but because its level was too low.
With both Dragon King bloodlines within him, and even traces of the Dragon God bloodline formed from their fusion, this diluted Dragon Force was easily swallowed by his bloodline with little effect. By comparison, absorbing Celestial Dragon Planet’s own vast life energy yielded far greater benefits.
But was the Dragon Force of that space truly ineffective for him? No—it couldn’t be. Otherwise, when he was last on Celestial Dragon Planet, he would never have felt that intimate call. Within that space, there had to be something of extraordinary importance to him.
