Chapter 2 The Next Day
The preliminary rounds continued until the end of the tenth round. The teams participating in the Heaven Dou City preliminary competition had already fallen far behind.
Based on the data from these participating teams, it was possible to judge which teams were the dark horses of this Soul Master Elite Competition and which five teams might make it into the finals.
Shrek Academy proudly held the first place with ten wins and zero losses, but Shrek Academy was not the only undefeated team.
There were four other teams with the same record. Four of the Five Element Academies' sects, excluding the Elephant Armored Sect, also had ten wins and zero losses.
However, it was astonishing that apart from the Elephant Armored Sect they encountered at the beginning, Shrek Academy had not encountered any other of the Five Element Academies' teams. They had easily defeated their opponents, and some academies even forfeited when facing them.
The Elephant Armored Sect, who faced them, was not so lucky. They successively encountered the other four academies' teams. Even with the lineup and combat strategy they used against Shrek Academy, which had almost defeated Shrek Academy, they could not gain an advantage and were eliminated in the preliminary rounds, missing out on the finals.
The result of survival of the fittest was that the subsequent matches would no longer be easy.
In the new round of draw, Shrek Academy's opponent in the eleventh round was drawn from the Five Element Academies: Blazing Fire Academy.
This was a powerful team that leaned towards elemental spirit, composed entirely of fire-attribute soul masters.
Before the match even began, the stands were already a lively scene.
At least over one-third of the audience wore green team uniforms symbolizing Shrek Academy, but Tang Sui sighed, realizing that they had changed back to their unified black uniforms from Suo Tuo City during the seventh round.
But this did not dampen the audience's high spirits. They waved their fluorescent green and fiery red glow sticks, cheering for their favorite teams. Even though they were not on the fighting stage, it felt like another battle of rivalry was being waged.
This battle was long, especially in the later stages. Huo Wu's third spirit ring, 'Resistant Fire Ring,' and her fourth spirit skill, 'Blazing Fire Dance,' were much more troublesome than her brother Huo Wushuang's Fire Dragon.
Just as Huo Wu merged with the spirit skills of two other teammates, enhancing her fourth spirit skill, 'Blazing Fire Dance,' to attack the Shrek members, Tang San strolled forward leisurely. He stood in front of Dai Mubai and the others, and amidst astonished gazes, dark blue silver grass enveloped him.
Inside the imperceptible blue silver grass, Tang San directly entered his darkened form.
Having consumed the Eight-Veined Immortal Ginseng and the Fiery Foxgrass, both supreme elixirs, he and his spirit could now be immune to water and fire damage.
Black light surged on Tang San's body. The blue silver grass slowly receded amidst the gradually subsiding flames. Tang San, stepping through the scorching flames unharmed, looked at the dumbfounded Blazing Fire Academy members with a confident gaze.
Just like before the match began, the audience exploded with discussions, some cheering for Shrek Academy, while others angrily shouted for Blazing Fire Academy. But none of this could change the outcome of the match.
Seven beams of black light quietly surged, and a Blue Silver Cage instantly formed, completely enveloping the seven members of Blazing Fire Academy.
By now, they had consumed a large amount of spirit power. Even if they hadn't, it would not be easy to break free from the constraints of this ten-thousand-year spirit skill.
At the very least, it was impossible to break through the Blue Silver Cage with fire.
The appearance of the seven Blue Silver Cages marked the end of this match.
Perhaps the students of Blazing Fire Academy still had some trump card tactics they hadn't used. But when Tang San broke Huo Wu's fourth spirit skill, the match was already over. This was because the seven members of Blazing Fire Academy had completely lost their will to fight, and their captain, Huo Wushuang, was no exception.
"We... forfeit—"
The word "forfeit" was almost squeezed from between Huo Wu's teeth.
She gritted her teeth, her eyes fierce, staring intently at Tang San.
Despite being a soul master of the same level, the young man who looked even younger than herself gave her a sense of unfathomable depth.
He was like a treasure trove that could never be fully excavated, continuously revealing his abilities bit by bit.
And each time, his opponents would fall in the face of such a revelation.
"We will meet again, Tang San. Next time, you will not be so lucky," Huo Wu said word by word, staring at Tang San.
Seeing this, Tang Sui, standing beside Grandmaster, narrowed her eyes. She suddenly tugged at Grandmaster's sleeve and said, "Teacher, if we encounter Blazing Fire Academy again, can I get on the stage?"
Grandmaster, who was still relieved that Tang San's Blue Silver Grass had fire immunity, was stunned. After a moment of thought, he refused Tang Sui, "No, Sui Sui. You are our final trump card for this competition. You cannot participate before the finals."
Tang Sui puffed out her cheeks. "Then if we meet them again in the finals, it's a deal, Teacher. You must let me go!"
Grandmaster did not know why Tang Sui was so confident that Blazing Fire Academy would reach the finals and was so insistent, but...
"If we really meet them, I can let you participate, but I have a condition."
He looked at Tang Sui and stated his requirement:
"My requirement is that if we meet them again in a team battle before the grand finals, you can only use two spirit skills. Can you do that?" He also wanted to test how Tang Sui would combine her spirit skills under the joint restriction of her first and fifth spirit skills.
Tang Sui agreed without hesitation.
However, what Tang Sui never expected was that when they encountered Blazing Fire Academy again in a subsequent PvP (1v1) match, as they decided who would go first, Grandmaster stopped her from eagerly stepping forward.
Tang Sui was confused. "Teacher, didn't you agree to let me go?"
Grandmaster looked at her with a caring gaze. "Silly child, I was talking about team battles earlier. This is just a single match." Su Dan Novel Network
Tang Sui: "!!!"
Damn it, it was a word trap!
No! She wanted to fight! She couldn't let her brother be beaten by Huo Wu as in the original timeline!
