Chapter 14 Haircut

Su Ling had waist-length hair, as black and lustrous as ink, flowing and incredibly beautiful.

In times of peace, this beauty would be envied and admired.

But in the post-apocalyptic world, this beauty was a deadly hazard.

In her previous life, Su Ling had nearly been devoured by zombies because of her beautiful hair.

Had Shang Qi not been there, Su Ling would have died within the first year of the apocalypse.

The barbershop was located in a prime spot on a bustling main street, and business was booming.

As soon as Su Ling entered, her striking beauty immediately drew many gazes.

The staff at the shop greeted her with fiery enthusiasm, "Hello, are you here for a wash or a style?"

"A haircut," Su Ling replied with a cool tone, walking to an empty seat and sitting down. "Cut it short, as short as possible."

The staff member's smile nearly faltered. He looked at Su Ling, then at her beautiful long hair. "Miss, are you sure you want to cut it short?"

It was such a shame to cut off such lovely hair; why not style it to make it even more stunning?

"Yes, as short as possible," Su Ling's voice was cold and distant, leaving no room for negotiation.

The staff member sighed, casting a regretful glance at the long hair, and could only proceed as Su Ling requested.

Before making the first cut, the staff member asked again, "I'm really going to cut it now. Once this snip is made, there's no turning back."

"Cut."

"Alright then."

Finally, Su Ling's cascade of dark hair, like a waterfall, was ended by a pair of scissors, transforming into a neat and crisp short style.

After a simple trim by the staff, it immediately looked fashionable and handsome.

Su Ling's facial features were well-defined, allowing her to carry both long and short hair with equal grace, each possessing its own unique beauty.

She stood up and went to the counter, stating concisely, "How much do I owe you?"

The staff member who had cut her hair was still holding her severed locks. "Miss, would you like to keep the hair you just cut? If not, you can sell it to us, or we can use it to offset the cost of your haircut."

Su Ling's indifferent gaze swept over the staff member. "Fine."

With that, Su Ling turned and left the barbershop, heading towards her parked car.

As soon as she got into the car and picked up her phone to check the time, an incoming call popped up.

She swiped the screen to answer, "Hello—"

At the Xuyang Police Station.

As soon as Su Ling arrived and gave her name, she happened to catch the shift change. The officer on duty asked her to wait on a chair.

He poured Su Ling a glass of water, and then the officer went out.

Su Ling sat on the chair, holding the water, her gaze lowered to her own hands. Her fingernails were also long; they needed to be trimmed.

Just then, a voice sounded from above her:

"Are you Su Ling?"

Hearing the voice, Su Ling looked up. The moment she saw the person before her, Su Ling felt a slight moment of daze. "Shang Qi?"

"Hello, I am Officer Gu Shangse, in charge of your case." His clear and gentle voice fell, and Gu Shangse continued, "We received a report around 9 PM last night about someone trespassing into a private residence..."

"I made the report."

Su Ling's cool, distant eyes were fixed on Gu Shangse. The person before her wore a uniform, exuding an aura of integrity. He stood tall and straight, his features clear and radiant, like polished jade; he was also extremely handsome.

His facial contours bore a strong resemblance to Shang Qi, but he was not Shang Qi.

The way Su Ling looked at Gu Shangse was far from innocent, which puzzled him. However, he didn't ask anything, simply stating his duty, "The suspect claims to know you and be your friend, and says they were allowed in last night and weren't trespassing. Is this correct?"

"I don't know them, and I don't accept private settlements." After saying this, Su Ling stood up, picked up her water cup, and walked out.

Reaching the doorway, she suddenly stopped, turned back to look at Gu Shangse, and asked, "Do you have an older brother?"

Gu Shangse was taken aback. He looked at Su Ling and shook his head in a docile, innocent manner.

"A younger brother?"

Gu Shangse shook his head again.

Su Ling asked no further questions and walked away directly.

Gu Shangse: "???"
