Chapter 2 The Storm Continues
The torrential rain continued on the second day.
It had been raining non-stop for two consecutive days. Su Ling woke up, finished her morning routine, and stood by the railing, looking down.
Due to the continuous rain and the insufficient drainage, the ground was submerged, unrecognizable.
On the slowly flowing water, small cars drifted with the current, along with dead branches, broken trees, and even animal carcasses.
They floated densely on the water, having come from nowhere and heading to an unknown destination.
Su Ling used binoculars to observe the situation and found that the water level was very high. Many buildings in low-lying areas were already submerged up to the second floor, with water entering through open windows.
Their building was located in a high-lying area. Even so, she could see that the first floors of other buildings were already flooded, with only a small portion of the door frames exposed.
That exposed portion did not last long, and was soon submerged as well.
In her past life, Su Ling had left her villa a week after the apocalypse, intending to head to a survivor base.
Because her villa was located on a mountainside, with a superior geographical position, the continuous week of heavy rain had not significantly affected her. By the time she left, the rain had stopped, and the sky was clear.
However, in this life, she was not in the villa but in a building.
And this torrential rain had arrived earlier than expected.
Su Ling had no idea when the heavy rain would stop.
If it continued like this, it would undoubtedly be very unfavorable news for them.
The number of survivors had already plummeted after the apocalypse, and now with the heavy rain, more survivors would be lost.
She had woken up early, while everyone else was still asleep.
"Ah—"
A cry from inside the tent startled everyone from their sleep and pulled Su Ling back from her thoughts.
She turned her head and looked in the direction of the sound.
The tent flap was pulled open, and Zhang Miaomiao emerged, her face and eyes filled with undisguised surprise and delight.
As soon as she looked up and saw Su Ling staring at her, Zhang Miaomiao could not contain her excitement and joy, and stammering, she said to Su Ling, "Su Ling, I think, I think—"
Overwhelmed by emotion, Zhang Miaomiao's words trailed off incomplete.
Li Yunlong emerged from the tent, put his arm around Zhang Miaomiao, and gently soothed her, "Don't get too excited, speak slowly."
Zhang Miaomiao glanced at Li Yunlong, nodded, took a breath, and then said, "I think I have a superpower."
Hearing Zhang Miaomiao say she had a superpower, Su Ling did not show much surprise.
She remembered that in her past life, her superpower had awakened after the heavy rain.
If she was not mistaken, this torrential rain was not only causing the zombies to evolve but also enabling survivors to awaken their superpowers.
Of course, some people awakened their superpowers at the very beginning of the apocalypse.
However, this heavy rain seemed to be a catalyst for their superpowers to improve.
Her own psychic superpower, for instance, had only awakened after the heavy rain.
"Congratulations," Su Ling said. Her words were few, but her meaning was conveyed effectively.
Li Yunlong held Zhang Miaomiao's hand and asked her, "What kind of superpower do you have?"
Zhang Miaomiao met Li Yunlong's gaze, swallowed, and said excitedly, "It seems I can make things disappear and then bring them back."
Having said that, Zhang Miaomiao quickly demonstrated for Li Yunlong. She opened her hand, and in the next second, a bag of medicine appeared in her palm.
In the next second, the medicine vanished, and her hand was empty.
Su Ling leaned against the railing of the rooftop, surprised by Zhang Miaomiao's awakened storage superpower.
However, she thought that this young couple would be able to go further in the apocalypse.
Thinking this, Su Ling became curious about Zhang Miaomiao's storage superpower and asked, "Can you see the size of your storage space?"
