Chapter 400: Chapter 359 Dry Your Hair Before Sleep

Zhuo Yuqing felt a bit embarrassed; it was agreed that she would cook, but in the end, Bai Chengxi was the one who cooked.

However, seeing these good-looking dishes, her appetite was already stimulated.

"Let’s eat." Bai Chengxi brought over a bottle of wine. He enjoyed drinking, and it seemed that a meal was never complete without wine for him.

Zhuo Yuqing felt guilty and hurriedly flattered him by pouring his wine with delicate fingers gripping the bottle oh so earnestly.

"How come you can cook?" Zhuo Yuqing picked up her chopsticks, grabbed a piece of steamed fish, and could smell its delicious aroma before it even reached her mouth. After tasting it, she found it delicious enough to bring tears to her eyes.

"Bai Chengxi, how are you so good at this? It’s so delicious."

"Don’t you not eat live things?"

"I’m just trying a bite; it looks so tasty!" Zhuo Yuqing smacked her lips a few times and then reached with her chopsticks for another dish, praising repeatedly after eating it, "Bai Chengxi, if you ever become unemployed, you could open a restaurant. I guarantee I’d eat there every day."

Bai Chengxi ate unhurriedly, looked up to see her lively and excited face, "You can eat like this every day, starting now."

Starting now?

Did he mean he would cook for her from now on?

Zhuo Yuqing lowered her head, slowly eating her rice, her face turning red.

Bai Chengxi had excellent cooking skills, although he hadn’t mentioned how he learned to cook. But a handsome man standing in the kitchen cooking looked like he was showing off and scoring points.

After the meal, Zhuo Yuqing took a shower, dried her hair, and tried to use her hair dryer, but it wouldn’t turn on after several tries. If her hair didn’t dry, how could she sleep at night?

She struggled mentally in the bathroom for a long time before finally opening the door and stepping out.

Bai Chengxi was working in the study, the door half-closed; she knocked gently on it.

"Come in."

He was writing something, head down. Hearing the door, he looked up. Zhuo Yuqing stood at the doorway, soft light hitting her fair face, freshly bathed skin showing a touch of rosy glow, hair still wet, hastily tied up with a towel.

"What is it?" Bai Chengxi put down his pen, his eyes slightly squinting.

He had seen all kinds of beauties in his thirty-some years, yet Zhuo Yuqing presented herself with a hint of panic that unexpectedly made him struggle to look away,

"The hair dryer broke, do we have a spare? I can’t sleep with my hair wet," she said, avoiding looking at him, her gaze falling to her own feet, her face redder.

"Bring it here; let me have a look," Bai Chengxi stretched out his hand.

Zhuo Yuqing hurried over and handed him the dryer: "It doesn’t turn on when plugged in."

Bai Chengxi tried it out: "It might be the internal wire’s broken; we don’t have the tools to fix it. I’ll go buy you a new one."

"I can go get it myself."

However, the way she turned her head made Bai Chengxi think she was rejecting him. A sudden irritation and unidentified anger rose in him. He let go, tidied his clothes, and said with a colder tone, "I’ll go out and buy something."

Not until the sound of the door closing outside,

He had provided her with two pieces of news that made her stand out in front of Tong Bi. He had also cooked for her. Upon reflection, he had treated her quite well,

Moreover, they had already been intimate before, even though she had no memory of that night.

Bai Chengxi got into his car and habitually lit a cigarette, not in a hurry to go shopping, but instead sitting alone, blowing smoke rings for a while.

He had once again lost control of his temper. How could he blame her? He had deceived her. Nothing had actually happened that night; to her, he was just a stranger whose name she knew. How could she so quickly accept him, and her feeling of aversion toward his touch was perfectly normal.

After finishing his cigarette, Bai Chengxi finally drove to the nearby convenience store, only to find that they didn’t sell hair dryers, so he had to go a bit farther. On his way back, he even ran into a traffic accident that delayed him for a whole hour.

By the time he got back home, there was no one in the living room and the door to her room was tightly shut; she was probably asleep.

Bai Chengxi glanced at the box in his hand, absentmindedly pushed open the bedroom door, and found the bedside lamp on. The dim yellow light warmed his eyes. He blinked hard and saw a small figure lying on the bed, barely noticeable because she was so thin, curled up in the blanket.

Bai Chengxi’s heartbeat quickened. He tiptoed over, leaning down in the light of the bedside lamp to look at the sleeping face.

Her lips were slightly pursed, her eyebrows stretched gently, a few strands of hair on her forehead,

When did she fall asleep on his bed? Did she notice his earlier odd behavior? Was this her way of trying to please him?

"Zhuo Yuqing." Wake up, dry your hair before you sleep."

Zhuo Yuqing felt someone calling her in her drowsy state, rubbed her eyes, and slowly saw Bai Chengxi’s face coming into focus, softly saying, "You’re back."

Zhuo Yuqing’s shoulders shivered slightly, feeling somewhat embarrassed: "I can do it myself."

"Don’t move." One of his hands held her shoulder, while the other held the hairdryer and started to blow dry her hair seriously.

Her hair wasn’t very long, felt like slippery silk, and carried a faint fragrance.
