Chapter 336: Chapter 306: I Picked Her Up from the Roadside_2

He suppressed his anger repeatedly before he finally managed to calm down.

At this moment, Uncle Yu came over and said, "Sir, the young lady who has been with the young master these past few days has sent a text message."

Mu Shuoqian, still furious, glanced over but didn’t continue, unsure whether he wanted to hear it or not.

Gathering his courage, Uncle Yu said, "She wants to talk on the phone with the young master."

Frustrated, he stood up, his steps hastened, and coldly dropped a sentence, "Get her account number, send her some money."

Uncle Yu opened his mouth to explain, but was silenced by his cold, stern figure.

Forget it, it’s not the time to pull a tooth from a tiger’s mouth.

Gu Qili was buying porridge when her phone beeped. It was a text from Uncle Yu. However, the content annoyed her.

"Hello teacher, the sir is asking for your account number to thank you for taking care of the young master these past few days. Please send it when convenient, any bank is fine."

She thought that Qini’s father must be a profit-driven businessman with eyes only for money, otherwise, he wouldn’t always speak in terms of money and neglect Qini’s mental health.

She wanted to give him a piece of her mind, but after thinking it over, she put her phone away and carried the porridge back to the hospital.

Tang Tianyou was sitting on the hospital bed handling some business matters. Hearing the door open, he looked up; probably because of the fever, his face was still a bit flushed, and his narrow eyes shone like jewels.

"I’m starving to death." He threw the documents in his hand aside like a child waiting to be fed, eager and impatient.

Gu Qili took out the food boxes one by one, set up a small table on the bed.

She then fetched a basin of water and washed his hands for him.

"I should’ve fallen ill sooner if I knew you would take care of me like this," Tang Tianyou stretched out both hands for her to clean.

Gu Qili gave him a stern look and muttered as she turned to put the basin back in the bathroom: "Nutcase, who asks for sickness."

"Qili, how about feeding me?" He looked at her brazenly, only to be hit in the face with a disposable spoon: "Aren’t you starving? Hurry up and eat."

Tang Tianyou, finding no fun in teasing, had to obediently feed himself.

"What did the doctor say caused the fever?" Gu Qili asked, biting her pancake.

"A cold," he casually replied and then changed the subject, "This porridge isn’t tasty, not as good as yours."

Gu Qili looked helpless: "I’ll make some for you when I go home later."

"Tonight, let’s call Xiong Da over, I’ve set up a meeting with some venture capitalists to discuss investments." Gu Qili checked her phone, "I’ve already nearly settled it over emails, now we just need to meet to finalize it."

Just as Tang Tianyou was about to speak, Gu Qili hushed him as if she knew what he was going to say: "I know what you mean, but I also know you’ve just built a new casino in Las Vegas with a huge investment. Your money is hard-earned, so don’t think about helping me. If I can’t handle this small difficulty, I shouldn’t come back to restart the winery."

"Qili," Tang Tianyou’s lips curved up slightly, relieved, "You really have grown up."

"It sounds like I was a child before," Gu Qili huffed in dissatisfaction.

"You know, whenever you need me, I won’t hesitate for a second."

"I know. Since you want to help so much, I might consider giving you a job tending vines and manure in the vineyard later," she joked.

Tang Tianyou twitched his mouth and continued to eat his porridge.

Gu Qili had arranged to meet President Li of the venture capital at 7 PM at Xiangshan Club. The venue was chosen by President Li, and though Gu Qili was somewhat reluctant, she agreed since it was their first meeting and she didn’t want to seem too pretentious.

Gu Qili arrived at Xiangshan Club promptly at 6:30 PM and had booked a private room ahead of time, scrolling through the menu as she waited for President Li.

The room diagonally opposite was Bai Chengxi’s regular, who was celebrating his birthday today with a bunch of friends including top celebrities from Xingdong Media.

Mu Shuoqian arrived last, and as he appeared,

"Mu, punish yourself with three drinks," the birthday man Bai Chengxi, already a bit unsteady from drinking, wouldn’t let go of a perfect scapegoat.

Mu Shuoqian pushed an envelope in front of him: "A birthday gift."

After saying that, he picked up a glass prepared by the waiter, filled it with expensive wine, toasted Bai Chengxi and drained it.

"Hey, Bai, this wine is so expensive, are you really drinking it like it’s water?" Nan Zhan was a bit heartbroken.

Mu Shuoqian downed two more glasses before sitting down on a nearby chair, taking off his coat and draping it over the back. A waiter hurried over to put a dust cover on it.

Bai Chengxi had already opened the envelope, and seeing what was inside, he smirked triumphantly: "You finally agreed to sign this contract. Don’t worry, as long as the money is in place, I guarantee this show will be a hit."

Mu Shuoqian didn’t particularly enjoy these boisterous gatherings; most of the time, he just sat there quietly eating and drinking.

Until someone knocked on the door. After pausing for a few seconds, the visitor peeked inside, the room full of such high-profile figures made him slightly dizzy.

"Mr. Bai, I’m Li Jing from Kaidi Investment Company. I heard it’s your birthday today, though I didn’t bring any gifts, this bottle of wine is freshly ordered, happy birthday," Li Jing let the waiter following him place the wine on the table.

Bai Chengxi was in a good mood today and, although he had only heard of this Li Jing, greeted him warmly raising his glass, "Thank you, President Li, you’re too kind."

Li Jing said something else, Mu Shuoqian didn’t hear clearly, but when Li Jing toasted and went back, Mu Shuoqian pushed open the door of the private room, and saw a familiar figure unguardedly burst into his sight, making his blood surge instantaneously.
