Chapter 339: Chapter 308: I am Going on a Date_2
Thinking of Ali, his little nose wrinkled. He didn’t like women who broke their promises, especially those who didn’t offer any explanation. Thus, he decided to pay no more attention to her.
Mu Qinian woke up the next morning with mixed feelings.
Mu Shuoqian had already gone to work. Sitting alone in the dining room for breakfast, he was having his favorite sandwich, but still found it not as delicious as the ones Ali made.
But he had already decided to break up with Ali, so why was he still thinking about her? Could this be what they call heartbreak syndrome?
"Young master," Uncle Yu pointed to the empty cup, "Another one?"
Only then did Mu Qinian realize he had been sipping from an empty cup for quite awhile.
"No need, thank you Uncle Yu," Mu Qinian placed the cup down on the table while heaving a sigh.
Uncle Yu, attentive to his mood, suddenly remembered the text message he received the day before yesterday.
"Young master, your teacher sent you a message."
"What teacher?" Mu Qinian responded disinterestedly.
"It’s the teacher staying at her place," Uncle Yu had barely finished speaking when his thigh was hugged by the little guy who was smiling up at him affectionately.
"Uncle Yu, really?"
Uncle Yu showed him the message, its words were simple and Mu Qinian knew all of them. He immediately used Uncle Yu’s phone to dial Gu Qili’s number, and as he heard the dial tone, his little face couldn’t help but turn bashfully red.
Gu Qili was sitting at the coffee table organizing partnership documents when her phone suddenly rang. She did not check the caller ID and continued scratching on her notebook, "Hello, good day."
There was no response, but faint breathing could be heard.
Finally looking at the caller ID, Gu Qili felt a sudden jolt of surprise and cautiously asked: "Is that you, Qinian?"
After a long pause, a small "Mhm" came from the phone.
"Qinian, I’m really sorry about that day. One of my friends suddenly fell very ill; it was serious, so I had to leave. Sorry, I didn’t mean to stand you up."
Mu Qinian had actually forgiven her already, but still responded coldly: "Because of you, I didn’t get first place."
Hearing this, Gu Qili felt terrible, "I’m so sorry."
"Oh come on, you’ve apologized three or four times. If sorry was enough, what do we need police for?"
Gu Qili was stunned by his words; they sounded so familiar, as if it was a phrase she used often before.
She ran her pen across the scrap paper, involuntarily writing ’sorry’ several times. The competition was long over, but the hurt she had caused seemed irrevocable.
"If you really feel sorry, treat me to ice cream tomorrow." He emphasized further: "I want the ice cream from the Xiangshan Club. It’s expensive, so bring enough money."
Mu Qinian knew that ice cream was expensive because once his dad took him there for a meal. He insisted on having ice cream, so his dad ordered two servings. One filled his stomach and the other melted by his dad’s side, as he watched the delicious ice cream turn into water, his heart aching with every drip.
"Mr. Mu, this ice cream is very expensive, not eating it is really a waste," said the manager who came in, and Mu Qinian remembered that.
Mu Qinian thought Gu Qili probably didn’t have much money because she had to take the bus when she went out. So, before he left the next day, he scraped some hundred-yuan bills from his piggy bank—these were from his uncle from New Year, and he had been saving them.
Having only enough money to pay for a taxi ride and a pig’s trotter rice once before, he also brought along his favorite car model. If needed, he could still exchange it for money.
"Uncle Yu, do I look handsome today?" Mu Qinian adjusted his bow tie in front of the mirror, dressed in a little black suit and shiny leather shoes, his eyes bright and black, hair neatly groomed.
"Handsome." Uncle Yu chuckled as he packed the requested items, "Young master, whom are you meeting?"
Mu Qinian suddenly blushed, staring at his toes somewhat coyly: "Uncle Yu, please don’t tell my dad, I’m actually going on a date."
Uncle Yu almost laughed aloud, thinking to himself, your dad is still single.
"If dad finds out, he’d feel so embarrassed. Look at him, he’s of such age and still hasn’t got a wife." Mu Qinian picked up a bottle of cologne that Mu Shuoqian almost never used and spritzed some on himself, then he contentedly kissed the mirror.
Too handsome, even he wanted to marry himself.
Today, Gu Qili arrived at Xiangshan early. To show sincerity, she even bought a LEGO set from a store on the way; she didn’t know what Qinian liked, but the toy store owner said that all the little boys nowadays love LEGO.
After sitting down, she placed the toy on the chair beside her and pulled out a magazine from her bag to kill time. It was the best-selling food magazine in Aus City, whose editor-in-chief just called her to schedule an article.
Mu Qinian hopped off the car, waving at Yuan Yi who drove him: "Uncle Yuan, you can just wait for me outside."
He was almost hopping step by step up the stairs, about to enter through the revolving door, when suddenly a hand rested on his shoulder and a tall figure reflected on the glass in front of him.
"Dad?" Mu Qinian opened his mouth in surprise, "Are you following me?"
Mu Shuoqian glanced at him: "Don’t flatter yourself too much."
Then, Mu Qinian noticed the secretary following him, apparently coming here to dine.
Upon entering the hall, Mu Shuoqian lowered his head and asked, "What are you doing here?"
"I..." Mu Qinian glanced downward, in great discomfort under severe scrutiny, he eventually admitted: "I’m here to meet Ali."
Myna said: I have really met her this time, trust me
