Chapter 350: Chapter 316: Would You Still Choose to Forgive Him_2
Qiu Lan’s identity was special, and she had always been careful and cautious, never expecting to stumble over her own daughter.
Her brows were knit with solemnity, accompanied by deep disappointment.
Over the years, she had been dealing with her emotional issues with Jason and had no spare attention for anything else. She firmly believed that it wasn’t only this bag that contained a listening device, but other problematic bags must have already been taken away and disposed of by Qiu Yufei.
Why did she need to surveil her? How much about her secrets did she eavesdrop on? The thought that many words she had spoken were being listened to by another person without her awareness sent a shiver of fear through Qiu Lan.
The silence of Qiu Lan gave Mu Shuoqian an opportunity: "Why didn’t you tell me the truth? Why deceive me? My ties with Gu Qili had long been severed, does it still please you to keep me in the dark?" Mu Shuoqian’s tone was laden with thick disappointment, "All these years, in pursuit of revenge, I did not hesitate to scheme against my own father, yet you, enjoying the fruits without effort, couldn’t even manage basic honesty. I suppose, there is no point in seeking this vengeance."
Upon hearing this, Qiu Lan immediately thought of the secret she had always hidden and became anxious: "Shuoqian, you know everything? You found Feifei, did she tell you?"
"It doesn’t matter how I found out, I am just very disappointed in you. As for the revenge, let’s put that aside for now..."
Qiu Lan hurriedly interrupted him: "Shuoqian, Mother didn’t mean to hide it from you on purpose. I just felt there was no need to mention it. Gu Dezhong is our enemy, whether his death was caused by you or me makes no difference..."
"You still refuse to tell the truth even now?" Mu Shuoqian interrupted her with apparent irritation, "If you don’t want to speak, then forget it,"
Qiu Lan rapidly raised her voice: "Shuoqian, don’t hang up, it’s my fault, I should have told you earlier."
As Qiu Lan spoke, she sighed again: "After the Gu Family went bankrupt, I went to Gu Dezhong and told him about our mother and son’s experiences over these years. Gu Dezhong suddenly fell ill after hearing it. He did not have a stroke because the Gu Family went bankrupt, nor because of you. He was shocked to find that we, mother and son, were still alive and had returned. He was frightened. He deserved his fate, and deserved to die."
While Qiu Lan’s curse was still ongoing, Mu Shuoqian had already removed the phone from his ear.
So that’s how it was.
Mu Shuoqian turned his head and stared at the black sky outside the window, unsure whether to feel joy or sorrow. The joy was that Gu Dezhong’s illness was not caused by the bankruptcy of the Gu Family, but the sorrow was that this matter was still inseparably linked to him. If Qiu Lan hadn’t gone to say those words to Gu Dezhong, perhaps he wouldn’t have fallen ill or died.
He silently lit a cigarette, not daring to think whether Gu Qili would still choose to forgive him after knowing the true nature of these events.

Gu Qili had just finished a call with Mickey and made a bowl of noodles in the kitchen, but then she lost her appetite.
She couldn’t fathom Mu Shuoqian’s thoughts. If he intended to protect Qiu Yufei, what could she possibly do to them without evidence in her hands?
If it came to a legal dispute, her chances of winning were slim, especially against someone like Mu Shuoqian,
Gu Qili felt a headache coming on and rubbed her temples when a knock sounded from the outside. Her home had a doorbell; who would choose to knock instead of ringing it?
She walked over, peeked through the peephole, and was startled but also overjoyed as she opened the door, trembling slightly with excitement.
"Niannian, how did you come here?"
Gu Qili watched as the little figure stood at the door, wearing a sky-blue sweater jacket, with a car-shaped suitcase placed beside him.
He glanced up at her, silently crossed over her and walked into the house; the sound of the suitcase wheels gliding across the floor made Gu Qili hurriedly close the door and follow him inside.
Mu Qinian plopped onto the sofa, saw a bowl of steaming noodles on the coffee table, and his stomach let out a couple of uncooperative growls. Yet, he was too proud to ask for food from someone else,
A pair of children’s chopsticks and a bowl were placed in front of him, obviously new.
"I bought these yesterday at the children’s mall, and I’ve already sterilized them." Gu Qili divided a bowl of noodles into his little bowl, "Go wash your hands first, the noodles are still hot."
Mu Qinian immediately scampered into the bathroom with great joy. When he came out, he had taken off his jacket and was only wearing a little white sweater underneath.
"Niannian, did you come here by yourself?" Gu Qili sat down beside him; this was their first meeting after the paternity test results were out, unlike the previous few times. Knowing he was her own son, Gu Qili now looked at him with a tenderness that seemed to drip water.
"I ditched Uncle Yu and took a taxi here by myself." Mu Qinian slurped a mouthful of noodles, chewed a few times, and then, as if he had discovered a new world, his eyes lit up: "What kind of noodles are these? They’re super tasty."
"Instant noodles, haven’t you ever had them before?" Gu Qili suddenly felt the child was too pitiable. Living with a person like Mu Shuoqian, how could he possibly enjoy these common delicacies? He never eats street food or junk food, naturally, he wouldn’t let his child touch those either.
"Delicious, delicious." Mu Qinian finished a small bowl in one breath.
Gu Qili added another bowl for him and then patted him on the back: "Eat slowly, be careful not to choke. If it’s not enough, there’s still more."
While Mu Qinian was eating his noodles, Gu Qili gently stroked his back, afraid that he would choke.
"Make a call to Uncle Yu. He’ll worry about you if you always slip away like this."
"Ali." Mu Qinian suddenly put down the empty bowl, looked seriously at her: "Do you hate my dad?"
Gu Qili didn’t know how to explain the complex love and hate relationships between adults to a child. She was well aware of the damage an incomplete family can inflict on a child.
As she struggled with what to say, she heard Mu Qinian speak: "Don’t worry, once we are together, I’ll find him a wife. Then, he won’t have time to bother us anymore."
Gu Qili: "..."
How was she supposed to respond to this remark?
After Mu Qinian finished eating, he picked up Gu Qili’s tablet to watch cartoons, while Gu Qili was in the kitchen making a cake for him as a late-night snack. Halfway through making the cake, the doorbell rang.
"Qini, you go open the door; my hands are covered in egg liquid." Gu Qili poked her head out and called.
Mu Qinian put aside the tablet, reluctantly went to open the door. He was a hundred times unwilling to greet this visitor who had interrupted their world for two, but he didn’t dare to throw a tantrum.
