Chapter 246 Great Backing Ahead

The captain choked, but Lin Feng was speaking the truth. He had only been coming in to clock in every day, sitting in the office to drink tea and read newspapers, nothing more.

"I'm just here to ask if you've collected any useful evidence?" Lin Feng glanced at the captain and spoke directly.

"You little brat, you really dare to ask." The captain looked at Lin Feng, who appeared calm, and took out a stack of records from a hidden compartment in his drawer.

"These are their real vehicle logs." The captain gestured for Lin Feng to look. Lin Feng casually opened one and his eyebrows gradually furrowed, his expression growing more serious.

"They're this blatant?" Lin Feng looked at the vehicle logs and then at the expense reports. It was as if they were treating everyone like fools.

They drove over ten kilometers but reported thirty kilometers for fuel. Where did this half of the fuel money go?

"It's not just that," the captain said, pointing to the reports in Lin Feng's hand. There were more problems than just these. After Lin Feng silently finished reading the documents, he finally understood why the captain couldn't do anything about the situation.

It turned out that it wasn't just about Fu Liqun, but rather the people behind Fu Liqun who were amassing wealth.

All these subsidies were minor. Smuggling was the most serious offense, which could be defined as speculative and profiteering. Fu Liqun must have had other people behind him, not just one.

With such a large scale, how could it possibly be supported by just one person?

"Pretend you don't know about this matter!" Lin Feng stood up with the documents and stuffed them into his clothes. "The scope of this matter has completely crossed the line. It's not as simple as just dealing with Fu Liqun."

"If you need my cooperation, just say so." The captain looked at Lin Feng and nodded.

Lin Feng shook his head. "Unless you want to be dragged down, you'd best not get involved."

The captain was taken aback. Lin Feng's words were more serious than he had imagined.

"Captain Zou, I'm leaving now." Lin Feng nodded to Captain Zou and got up to leave.

Zou Jianguo watched Lin Feng's receding back, took a sip of tea in silence, and then suddenly thought of something. The hand holding the teacup couldn't help but tremble.

After leaving the transport team, Lin Feng went straight to the post office.

After presenting his identification, the post office staff immediately took Lin Feng to a room.

"Comrade Lin Feng, please." The post office staff nodded to Lin Feng and left the room to him.

Lin Feng picked up the phone and dialed the switchboard. "This is the XX Military Region switchboard."

"Hello, I am Lin Feng. I have an urgent matter to speak with Commander Peng. Please expedite the connection." Lin Feng said seriously.

"Hello, Comrade Lin Feng. You need to be connected to Commander Peng?" a serious voice asked on the phone.

"Yes," Lin Feng replied.

"Okay, I will connect you immediately." The operator immediately transferred the call for Lin Feng.

Lin Feng waited for a moment, and then Peng Tao's voice came through the phone. "What's so urgent that you need me, kid? I'm in the middle of reporting to the division commander!"

"Was it a premeditated move for you to transfer me to the Fengcheng transport team?" Lin Feng raised an eyebrow and asked directly.

"You've already figured it out?" Peng Tao chuckled triumphantly. He knew Lin Feng would find out eventually, but he hadn't expected him to discover it so soon.

"The new official takes office and immediately gives me such a strong challenge. You've really found me a good job." Lin Feng knew Peng Tao wouldn't let him off easily, and he was still finding trouble for him even after he had transferred.

"Ability means more responsibility! Even if you've transferred, kid, I can't let your talents go to waste!" Peng Tao said righteously, showing no embarrassment.

Lin Feng knew his character well and bypassed the topic. "Listen carefully to what I'm about to tell you next..."

"Go ahead!" When Peng Tao heard Lin Feng's tone, he knew he must have discovered something. He took out a pen and paper to record Lin Feng's words and said sternly.

Lin Feng told Peng Tao everything that had happened that day. After listening to Lin Feng, Peng Tao excitedly knocked over a water cup beside him and said with a trembling voice, "Don't joke with me, kid. Are you really sure?"

"If I didn't have concrete evidence, I wouldn't be calling you so urgently," Lin Feng said seriously. "Once the information here is confirmed, speculative profiteering will be the least of it!"

"You wait, kid. I'll go ask the division commander." Peng Tao frowned. He had initially thought it was a minor matter, just wanting Lin Feng to deal with some pests, but he hadn't expected to hook such a big fish, and such a live and plump one.

Lin Feng looked at his watch. About five minutes later, Peng Tao picked up the phone and his first words were, "You wait at home, kid. I'll come find you personally."

"Understood." Lin Feng nodded, and Peng Tao hung up.

While Lin Feng was busy, Fu Wenwen also encountered her first major challenge in life.

Aunt Ma, along with a group of 'friendly' neighbors, came to her house for a visit.

Fu Wenwen looked at the group of aunts, some of whom had brought their daughters-in-law and daughters. As soon as they entered, they began to scrutinize and judge the house. Aunt Ma smiled and introduced them to Fu Wenwen.

"This is Aunt Hu from next door, and this is her daughter-in-law, Xiaoying." Aunt Ma introduced. Fu Wenwen looked at the arrogant aunt who clearly looked down on her, and then at her daughter-in-law behind her, who seemed as timid as a quail. She nodded slightly. "Aunt Hu, Xiaoying, hello."

"Mmm." Aunt Hu nodded and gave Fu Wenwen a scrutinizing look, her eyes carrying a hint of contempt.

"Hello... hello." Xiaoying nervously glanced at Fu Wenwen, attracted by her beauty, and quickly replied.

"This is Aunt Qu." Aunt Ma pointed to another aunt with high cheekbones, so thin that Fu Wenwen felt she might be blown over by the wind.

However, seeing her tall and somewhat sharp eyes, she felt that this person would definitely not be easy to get along with.

When Fu Wenwen nodded to her, she just snorted softly.

"This is Aunt Zou and her daughter, Zou Xiaomei." Another was a plump aunt who always wore a smile. When she smiled, the corners of her eyes would squint into a line, making her look particularly cute. Beside her was a slightly plump girl with a similar smiling face.

Fu Wenwen smiled at the slightly plump girl.

"Oh, don't smile at me." Zou Xiaomei was already overwhelmed by Fu Wenwen's beauty when she saw her. It was the first time she had seen such a beautiful woman.

"Huh?" Fu Wenwen was stunned. "Why?"

"You're too beautiful, it's dazzling." Zou Xiaomei choked. "How can you be so good-looking?"

"You're so cute." Seeing Zou Xiaomei covering her eyes as if she couldn't bear it, while secretly peeking at her through the gaps between her fingers, Fu Wenwen was amused by her cuteness.

"Oh my, you're even prettier when you smile." Zou Xiaomei covered her heart, looking as if she was about to faint.

Aunt Zou immediately slapped her own daughter. It was one thing at home, but to be so improper in public. "Behave yourself!"
