Chapter 244 Confronting and Responding

The investigation team forcefully took away the rest of the first team. Fu Liqun was found still sitting in the captain's office, drinking tea, treating the captain beside him as if he didn't exist, as if this were his own office. He showed no fear towards the investigators.

"Comrade Fu Liqun, please cooperate and come with us," an investigator said coldly to Fu Liqun.

"What crime have I committed?" Fu Liqun calmly took a sip of tea and looked at them.

Seeing Fu Liqun's arrogant attitude, the investigators had no patience for further conversation. "We have received orders from our superiors to question everyone in the first team. Please cooperate with our work."

"Since that is the case, I will go." Hearing that it was an order from superiors, Fu Liqun had to go, no matter how unwilling.

After Fu Liqun was taken away, the two remaining investigators began questioning everyone. The captain had seen such situations before and calmly recounted what he knew, but inwardly he sighed, thinking Lin Feng had made a wrong move.

The higher authority of the transport team was Fu Liqun's father-in-law. Even if he were to be reported to the top, Fu Liqun would be fine, at most receiving a scolding and criticism, and the matter would be brushed aside.

He had tried this method long ago, but it was useless against Fu Liqun.

Every time evidence of such wrongdoing was submitted, it would be suppressed by the superiors. This was why Fu Liqun had been so arrogant in the transport team for so many years.

Who could blame him for having a good father-in-law?

In other transport teams, for Fu Liqun to openly lead people against the captain's orders, a demerit would be the least of it; he would be expelled directly.

After the investigators left, the captain looked at the messy office and sighed.

Meanwhile, Lin Feng was leading the second team towards the textile factory.

Today, a batch of goods from the textile factory was to be delivered to the department store in Lincheng. Lin Feng had intended to discuss it with the captain, but he found Fu Liqun and others in the captain's office. Lin Feng made a decisive move, directly seeking out the sidelined second team and driving the lead vehicle himself, leading the second team.

The second team had been merged into the first team. Their original captain had always been at odds with Fu Liqun. Now that they were subservient, having to look at Fu Liqun's face every day, they felt extremely aggrieved.

Even the members of the second team were ostracized by Fu Liqun's men, and they were not even assigned tasks. Little did they know that today, with Lin Feng taking charge, they were finally put to use.

Fu Liqun had welcomed him cordially yesterday, and today he was directly showing his dominance.

The former captain of the second team sat in Lin Feng's passenger seat. He had intended to offer advice to Lin Feng, who was new to his position, in case he made any mistakes. However, after sitting for a while, he realized he was unnecessary.

Lin Feng drove the large truck as if he had been a seasoned driver for several years, showing no panic and skillfully making turns. He didn't need any guidance, nor did he even need someone to navigate for him.

"Deputy Captain Lin, have you done this before?" the second team captain asked, unable to help himself after watching Lin Feng for a while.

Lin Feng, keeping his eyes on the road and skillfully maneuvering the steering wheel, replied calmly, "Something like that. When I was in the army, we also had such transport missions."

"Captain Fang, has your first team not received any tasks since being merged? There must be quotas from the superiors, right? With so many quotas, can the first team complete them all?" Lin Feng asked, puzzled.

Upon hearing Lin Feng inquire about this matter, Fang Xiangjun replied with a sigh, "Fu Liqun certainly can't complete them. That's why our second team has taken the blame for so long. Clearly, the tasks were completed by us, but in the end, the credit would be attributed to the first team, and we, the second team, were always at the bottom."

"How did he manage that? All the driving records should be available, shouldn't they?" Lin Feng frowned. Such a thing would be unthinkable in their army. Could it really happen in the transport team?

Tampering with data so easily?

"They are, but in the end, our names would be replaced with the first team's names," Fang Xiangjun said indignantly. "All the heavy, troublesome, and complex tasks would be assigned to our team, while they in the first team handled the easiest tasks, like going to the soda factory or the foodstuff factory. We never received such tasks."

"Our tasks were always to transport sand from the sand pit, and coal from the power plant..." Fang Xiangjun said.

Lin Feng raised an eyebrow. "Haven't you reported this to your superiors?"

"We reported it long ago, but it was useless. At most, Fu Liqun would receive a verbal reprimand; he wouldn't even get a disciplinary action," Fang Xiangjun said with a wry smile. "It was only later that I found out Fu Liqun is the superior's son-in-law."

"With someone backing him, no wonder he's so arrogant, sitting in the captain's office and drinking tea." A sharp glint flashed in Lin Feng's eyes, and the corners of his mouth curved upward.

"Deputy Captain Lin, even if you complete the textile factory's task by bringing us out, you won't get any credit, and you might even be criticized. You..." Fang Xiangjun looked at Lin Feng and reminded him.

"Don't worry, my backing isn't bad either." Lin Feng glanced at Fang Xiangjun. "Since I've brought you out, this task is yours."

Hearing Lin Feng's words, Fang Xiangjun didn't know if he was telling the truth, but he chose to believe him.

He hoped that, as Lin Feng said, Fu Liqun would receive the punishment he deserved.

Upon arriving at the textile factory, the gatekeeper, an old man, saw Fang Xiangjun and exclaimed with a smile, "I knew it! With such a heavy task today, I could guess it must be you bringing people over."

"Uncle, I hope you've been well," Fang Xiangjun greeted the old man with a smile.

"This young man looks unfamiliar. Is he newly recruited to your team?" the old man asked, looking at Lin Feng, who was driving, with curiosity.

"Uncle, this is our transport team's deputy captain," Fang Xiangjun quickly reminded him.

The old man froze instantly. The deputy captain was practically a leader. Why was he driving himself?

"Heh... Heh heh, hello, Deputy Captain," the old man quickly put away his playful demeanor and opened the gate for Lin Feng.

Lin Feng nodded at the old man. "Thank you for your hard work."

"No trouble at all, no trouble at all," the old man said with a smile, relieved that Lin Feng wasn't angry.

Lin Feng led the convoy into the textile factory. As soon as they stopped and got out of the vehicles, a female comrade with a dark expression walked over, pointing at Lin Feng and angrily exclaiming, "Why are you late? Do you know how important today's goods are? If the time is delayed, can you bear the responsibility?"

"Director Qian, this is our transport team's deputy captain. There was a slight issue today, please don't be angry..." Fang Xiangjun quickly stepped forward to explain. Director Qian's already stern face became even more displeased upon hearing Fang Xiangjun's words.

"What if he's the deputy captain? Can the deputy captain delay the task? If everyone is like this, how can we entrust important tasks to you in the future?" Director Qian raged, almost pointing at Lin Feng's nose to scold him.
