Chapter 210 Slander

When Fu Wenwen returned from class, Lin An was already asleep. Lin Feng sat in the courtyard, waiting for Fu Wenwen to come back.

As soon as Fu Wenwen entered the house, she saw him. Lin Feng poured her a cup of warm water. Fu Wenwen took it with a soft smile and sat down with Lin Feng in the courtyard.

“Waiting for me?” Fu Wenwen smiled slightly, looking at the crescent moon in the sky.

Lin Feng slowly took out his ‘Demobilization Certificate’ and a letter of appointment from his embrace and placed them in front of Fu Wenwen.

After Fu Wenwen took them and read them, she returned them to Lin Feng. “Deputy Captain? That’s quite a position. Didn’t you say you were just a truck driver?”

“...Brother Peng arranged it for me!” Lin Feng lowered his head cautiously, fearing Fu Wenwen would be unhappy. He quickly took out the key to the house allocated to him. “But there are good things too. I’ve already got the key to the house, and we can move in directly. It’s a standalone courtyard.”

Fu Wenwen raised an eyebrow. This was unexpected. She thought Lin Feng was a truck driver, but now he was a deputy captain?

“Then you’ll be targeted as soon as you get there, won’t you? It’s not easy to be an airborne soldier.” Fu Wenwen nodded. Becoming a deputy captain must have been Captain Peng’s good intentions; he had arranged it specifically for Lin Feng.

“I’ve already anticipated it!” Lin Feng nodded and looked at Fu Wenwen, hesitating to speak.

“If you have something to say, just say it!” Fu Wenwen frowned. Why was he being so hesitant? She wasn’t going to eat him.

“Are you willing to bring Lin An with me?” Lin Feng asked expectantly.

He knew that Fu Wenwen was currently teaching a literacy class in the village and had a good relationship with Zhang Cuihua and the others. She had gotten used to living in the village and he was afraid she wouldn’t want to leave Honghe Village.

“Why would you think I’m not willing?” Fu Wenwen looked at Lin Feng in confusion. How could he think she wasn’t willing to leave Honghe Village?

“You are willing?” Lin Feng looked up at Fu Wenwen. Fu Wenwen nodded. “I am willing. My situation isn’t a big problem, but Lin An, I’m not sure about him. He’s just started to get along well with Huzizi and the others. Your son was isolated before, and now he’s finally integrated.”

“Then I’ll ask him tomorrow!” Lin Feng nodded. As long as Fu Wenwen was willing, it shouldn’t be a big problem.

It could be seen that Lin An was very dependent on her; his mother had already become a catchphrase.

“When do you start your position?” Fu Wenwen looked at Lin Feng and asked. The letter didn’t specify a date.

“Anytime, as long as I’m there, I can start.” Lin Feng replied. “What about you? Don’t you still have the literacy class?”

“Then let’s leave in three days. I’ll teach for two more days, and then I can hand it over to the next educated youth.” Fu Wenwen thought for a moment. She had already taught for eight days, and two more days would make it ten days. “The remaining day should be enough for us to pack our things, right?”

“Okay.” Lin Feng nodded. “Then let’s mail your parents’ things to them tomorrow?”

“Alright.” Fu Wenwen had no objection.

“Then… you should rest early.” Lin Feng stood up, smiled at Fu Wenwen, turned around, and walked into the small room next door.

Fu Wenwen chuckled, got up, and returned to her room. As soon as she lay down, Lin An rolled over. Fu Wenwen hugged Lin An and slowly closed her eyes.

The next morning

Fu Wenwen got up early, ate breakfast, and then went to work. As soon as Fu Wenwen left, Lin Xing arrived.

Lin Feng heard a knock on the door and thought Fu Wenwen had forgotten something. When he opened the door, Lin Xing immediately slipped in, tore open her clothes, and screamed loudly. “Ah!!!”

Centered around Lin Feng’s house, the screams spread, startling the villagers who were preparing to go to work.

Not long after Fu Wenwen left, she heard the familiar scream. Seeing the other villagers running towards the sound, Fu Wenwen raised her eyebrows and followed them.

However, as she walked, it became more and more familiar. Coupled with the familiar scream, Fu Wenwen felt annoyed.

Aren’t they going to her house?

As expected, her premonition came true. The villagers had gathered at her doorstep. In her yard, Lin Xing was crying with half her shoulder exposed, as if she had been bullied…

“Lin Feng, what’s going on?” Aunt Tian, who was closest, stood at the front and asked Lin Feng.

“I don’t know. As soon as she came in, she tore off her clothes and screamed on the ground.” Lin Feng said expressionlessly, clearly already knowing what Lin Xing was up to.

“Lin Xing, why are you crying?” Other villagers asked Lin Xing.

“Lin Feng, you’re lying. Clearly… clearly you bullied me! Wuwu… how could you slander me like this? You dragged me in…” Lin Xing pointed at Lin Feng and accused him.

“Star girl, if you want to frame someone, at least pick someone else. Do we not know what kind of person Lin Feng is?” Aunt Tian said helplessly. Everyone in the village knew what kind of person Lin Feng was; no one would believe what Lin Xing said.

“ That’s how he bullied Fu Wenwen back then, so why do you believe him? He’s just pretending! He’s been making advances on me since he was little! He did it again just now. As soon as he saw me, he wanted to touch me. I refused, and he dragged me into the yard!” Lin Xing said, wiping her tears. Her words were so plausible that many villagers began to have doubts.

Lin Feng glanced at Lin Xing indifferently, waiting to see what other charges she would concoct against him.

“Who is it? Why are you all here instead of going to work early in the morning?” The village chief was called over. Seeing everyone gathered at Lin Feng’s house, he asked with a stern face.

“Village chief, Lin Xing says she was bullied by Lin Feng!” A villager quickly told the village chief. “As soon as we arrived, we saw Lin Xing sitting on the ground with her clothes half torn.”

“This is the funniest joke I’ve ever heard.” The village chief glanced at the villager, a smile playing on his lips. “If any man in our village said this, I would believe him, but Lin Feng, I wouldn’t believe a single word.”

“Exactly!” The villagers who had come with the village chief all laughed. “It would be more believable if it were me, right?”

“Hahahahaha…” The village chief’s words made everyone laugh, and naturally, they no longer found Lin Xing’s words credible.

“You like Lin Feng, so of course, you’re helping him!” Lin Xing accused.

“What are you trying to do now? Are you planning to latch onto Lin Feng just to avoid marrying that butcher? Have you forgotten that Lin Feng is already married?” The village chief looked at Lin Xing on the ground, disappointed. “I thought at least one person in the Lin family was normal, but I overestimated you! You haven’t learned anything useful, but you’ve certainly learned your father’s talent for freeloading!”

“Village chief, Lin Feng really bullied me! I want to accuse him of indecency, he committed the crime of hooliganism!” Lin Xing gritted her teeth and pointed at Lin Feng angrily, insisting that the village chief should uphold justice for her.
