Chapter 214 Severing Ties

Lin's mother hugged Lin Xing, and Lin Xing felt something being stuffed into her hand. She looked down to find it was money.

"Live a good life, and don't come back!" Lin's mother patted Lin Xing and said solemnly.

"Okay!" Lin Xing's eyes turned red. She hugged her mother again, walked out of the Lin family, and caught up with the butcher who was waiting for her.

The butcher took Lin Xing to get the certificate. Many villagers saw it, and Lin Dawei took them to the village head's house.

"Lin Xing, have you really made up your mind?" The village head frowned, glared at Lin Dawei in displeasure, and then looked at Lin Xing, hoping she would think carefully.

"Village head, please just sign it!" Lin Xing glanced at Lin Dawei. She never wanted to see that ugly face again in her life.

"And a letter of severance, write it all down! From now on, Lin Xing and Lin Dawei are not related!" Lin Xing said to the village head, "He sells his daughter, he is not worthy of being my father!"

"What are you saying, you brat? Do you want a beating?" Lin Dawei roared, raising his hand to slap Lin Xing.

The butcher shielded Lin Xing behind him and looked at Lin Dawei with cold eyes. "She's my woman now. You dare to touch her and see?"

"...Without your maternal relatives, if you are bullied in the future, you won't even have a place to cry!" Lin Dawei glared at Lin Xing fiercely and roared.

"With you as my maternal relatives, I might as well have none!" Lin Xing retorted, mocking him. "Even if I starve to death outside, I won't come back to you!"

The village head glanced at Lin Xing and swiftly issued the certificate. The butcher put away the certificate with satisfaction and prepared to leave with Lin Xing.

As Lin Xing left, she said to the village head, "Liu Zihua gave me money to slander my brother. Village head, please tell my brother for me that I'm sorry for him. In the next life... I will repay him by being an ox or a horse."

After speaking, Lin Xing left with the butcher.

The village head fell silent for a long time after hearing Lin Xing's words.

The villagers were in an uproar when they saw Lin Xing leaving with the butcher, but some also felt that Lin Xing was escaping a hell.

Leaving was the right choice.

Fu Wenwen knew that Lin Xing had lived quite well in the past. If it weren't for her own restlessness, the butcher had treated her not badly. However, this was different from what was written in the original book.

In the original book, Lin Xing was forced into the cart, not voluntarily. And she married the butcher at sixteen. Now, two years early, everything seemed to be the same as in the original book, yet somewhat different.

After discussing Lin Xing and the Lin family for a while, and after denouncing Lin Dawei, everyone continued to work. Work points were more important.

After finishing work today, they still had to go to the market. Many villagers had already prepared baskets to carry things and placed them by the fields, waiting to set off immediately after finishing work.

"Sister, have you got your money ready? We're almost done with our work. Wait for us at the crossroads later. My Qiangzi will borrow Xiao Hong's donkey cart to pick you up before coming to pick me up," Zhang Cuihua said to Fu Wenwen with a smile.

"Okay," Fu Wenwen nodded.

As soon as the morning's work was finished, many people shouldered their baskets and headed to the village entrance.

Fu Wenwen went home to cook for Lin Feng and Lin An before shouldering her basket and preparing to leave.

Lin Feng saw Fu Wenwen's posture and asked, puzzled, "Where are you going?"

"Sister Cuihua said there's a market in town today. I want to see what's there," Fu Wenwen turned back and explained to Lin Feng.

"Wait for us, we'll go together," Lin Feng finished his meal quickly and asked Fu Wenwen to wait for him and Lin An.

"You're going too?" Fu Wenwen looked at Lin Feng. Lin Feng nodded. "Aren't you going to mail something to your parents anyway? I'll carry it for you and mail it together, so you don't have to make another trip."

"Alright," Fu Wenwen thought for a moment and nodded.

Lin An had been secretly listening to the adults. As soon as he heard they were going to the market, he ate faster without Lin Feng urging him.

Fu Wenwen looked at Lin An, who had eaten with food all over his face, with amusement and helplessness. She saw that he was afraid of wasting food and even licked the rice around his mouth, eating it all. He looked so adorable.

"Eat slowly, no rush," Fu Wenwen said with a smile.

"Mom, I'm done! Can we go now?" Lin An's eyes sparkled, and he looked at Fu Wenwen pleadingly. "I've never been to the market before!"

"Go, go!" Fu Wenwen's heart ached. She picked Lin An up. Lin Feng immediately came over and took Lin An from her. "I'll carry him!"

"Aren't you going to carry things? I'll carry him," Fu Wenwen saw Lin An pouting and took him back with a smile. Lin Feng thought about it and agreed.

Fu Wenwen told Lin Feng where the things were. Lin Feng went into the room to get them. The family of three arrived at the crossroads, where Liu Qiang was already waiting with his cart.

"Brother Qiang," Lin Feng smiled at Liu Qiang.

"Hey, Fengzi, are you going together?" Liu Qiang saw Lin Feng, walked up, and punched him. They had a good relationship and he smiled.

"Yes, thank you for the trouble," Lin Feng smiled at Liu Qiang, helped Fu Wenwen onto the donkey cart, and then handed Lin An to Fu Wenwen.

"Aren't you getting on the cart?" Fu Wenwen asked, seeing Lin Feng not getting on.

"No, Brother Qiang has to pick up Sister-in-law. I'll run there myself! Brother Qiang, you go pick up Sister-in-law!" Lin Feng took a few steps forward, letting Fu Wenwen see his stamina. Fu Wenwen knew Lin Feng's strength was formidable, and such a short run was just a warm-up for him, so she didn't insist.

"Then let's go pick up Sister Cuihua!" Fu Wenwen nodded at Lin Feng and then said to Liu Qiang.

Liu Qiang looked at Fu Wenwen, who didn't seem to care about Lin Feng at all. He opened his mouth but said nothing more. He slowly drove the donkey cart towards home. "Fengzi, we'll be ahead. If you get tired, you can get on!"

"Don't worry, Brother Qiang," Lin Feng waved his hand. This distance was nothing to him. Seeing that Liu Qiang still wanted to say something, Lin Feng ran towards the village entrance first.

Liu Qiang drove the donkey cart to the doorstep. Fu Wenwen immediately jumped off when she saw Liu Qiang, helped Zhang Cuihua onto the cart affectionately, and then helped a little girl onto the cart.

This was the first time Fu Wenwen had seen Zhang Cuihua's daughter. The little girl, tanned by the sun all year round, had some freckles on her face. When she saw Fu Wenwen, she shyly widened her eyes and softly called out, "Auntie!"

"Hello!" Fu Wenwen smiled at the little girl and looked at Zhang Cuihua. "Sister Cuihua, what's your daughter's name?"

"Ah? She's called Daya!" Zhang Cuihua was stunned and then said sheepishly. "Oh dear, we don't have many customs in our village. Usually, they only ask the village head to give them a proper name when they are eight or nine years old. In childhood, they are given mean names to raise them. The older generation said it makes them easier to raise."

"Daya, hello! This is Lin An. Lin An, say hello to Sister Ya Ya," Fu Wenwen said to Daya with a smile. Daya was being addressed so formally by an adult for the first time. Her face blushed, but she felt very happy. "Hello, An'an, I'm Daya."
