"Do you have any ideas?" the village head asked Fu Wenwen. Fu Wenwen fell silent for a moment.
"To get everyone to participate, the best way is of course to give them work points..." Fu Wenwen said slowly.
"The Party Secretary said it's not good to give work points for this," the village head shook his head. "If we give work points, they'll become lazy. They can get work points without working, and who wouldn't want free work points?"
People might come, but their hearts wouldn't be in it, and they wouldn't learn.
"I'll leave this to you. If you can get this done, I'll make you the scorekeeper," the village head looked at Fu Wenwen and smiled.
Fu Wenwen paused, but she couldn't refuse. If she could really get it done, being a scorekeeper wouldn't be bad.
Being a scorekeeper was the easiest job in the village, just recording work points every day.
"I'll try!" Fu Wenwen nodded, accepting the task first.
"Alright, it's settled then! Give me an answer within three days, whether it's done or not," the village head chuckled, holding his pipe. Tonight, he could finally sleep soundly.
After Fu Wenwen left the village head's house, Zhu Xi immediately ran out and questioned him, "Dad, what did that educated youth Fu want with you?"
"Why are you so concerned about educated youth Fu?" the village head raised an eyebrow at his youngest daughter. Her indignant appearance didn't suggest friendship.
"Dad, tell me! Does Fu Wenwen have some ulterior motive again? She's not a good person, Dad, you must not help her." Zhu Xi said angrily.
"Little sister, why do you dislike educated youth Fu so much? I haven't heard of you having any grudges," Wu Fang asked, bringing dishes out from the kitchen, her eyebrows raised upon hearing Zhu Xi's words.
"Tell me," the village head also looked at Zhu Xi and inquired.
"I just dislike her! She acts so improperly," Zhu Xi gritted her teeth, her gaze shifty with guilt.
"I think you're just jealous of her good looks," Zhu Xi's elder brother, Zhu Di, said. He then looked at his wife, "Aren't you cherishing the two clothes your sister-in-law brought back from educated youth Fu? And now you're criticizing educated youth Fu?"
"Big brother! Those are two different things!" Zhu Xi gritted her teeth.
"How are they different?" the second brother, Zhu Qi, came out of the room, laughing. "You sleep with those clothes every night, cherishing them dearly, yet here you are, criticizing the owner of the clothes."
"Big brother, second brother! Why are you both siding with that Fu Wenwen! I'm your real sister," Zhu Xi was furious. The whole family was speaking for Fu Wenwen, when she was their own blood.
"We didn't say anything," Zhu Di and Zhu Qi exchanged glances, took the bowls from Wu Fang, and chuckled.
The village head ignored Zhu Xi, happily picking up dishes and food. After Wu Fang served everyone, she sat down to eat. Seeing Zhu Xi still angry, Wu Fang smiled and pulled her to sit and eat. "Little sister, don't be angry, come sit and eat."
"Eat, eat, all you do is eat! Are you a food bucket?" Zhu Xi slapped Wu Fang's hand away. The loud "slap" made everyone's smiles freeze.
"How can you talk to your sister-in-law like that?" Zhu Di immediately became angry and quickly checked Wu Fang's hand. Zhu Xi had slapped it red, leaving a clear palm print.
"Xi'er, don't be unreasonable here! Apologize to your sister-in-law," Aunt Liu saw her husband's face darken and quickly tugged at Zhu Xi's clothes, persuading her.
