Chapter 67 No One Gives Face

Lin's mother did not indulge them. If they didn't eat, she ate. After finishing the food, she directly collected the bowls.

"Mom! How could you eat all the food! I haven't eaten yet!" Lin Xing shouted angrily.

"Seeing how reluctantly you eat, I won't make you suffer! Perhaps you can wait a little longer, until your brother and your father bring you something delicious!" Lin's mother said coldly, turning to carry the bowls and dishes into the kitchen. After cleaning the kitchen, she went to the yard to chop wood, fetch water, and feed the chickens, before finally returning to her room to rest.

Lin Xing waited and waited, only to be greeted by two famished individuals. Lin's father and Lin Yu, upon returning home and finding the table bare, cursed loudly.

"Where's the food! Did you eat all of it? Are you trying to starve me to death! Get out and cook!"

"Mom! Come out and cook! I'm starving!"

"Dad, second brother, why did you come back on an empty stomach? I was counting on you to bring me some dishes!" Lin Xing frowned as she watched the two men clutching their stomachs, weak and still cursing.

She had been hoping they would bring her something to eat! And they returned empty-handed?

"Dad, don't you usually have many friends? Why can't you even get a meal?" Lin Xing asked Lin's father.

Lin's father glared at Lin Xing. "It was just bad timing. They had already finished eating!"

No matter how long Lin's father and Lin Yu called, Lin's mother in the room remained unmoved. The two could only sit in the yard, staring at each other blankly. httpδ:/m.kuAisugg.nět

Lin Xing, holding her coarse grain rice, reluctantly began to eat. Lin Yu, seeing that Lin Xing still had some rice in her bowl, immediately lunged to snatch it.

"Sister! You've already had two bites, give this to me!"

"You rascal, offer something to your father first! Give me the rice!" Lin's father shouted at Lin Yu, but Lin Yu paid no attention.

"Brother! That's my rice!!" Lin Xing stomped her feet in anger, but it was useless. Her good brother had already eaten the coarse grain rice she didn't want and then threw an empty bowl at her, telling her to wash it.

Fu Wenwen was unaware that Lin's father had used up the money Lin Feng had given him.

This was because Fu Wenwen was currently staring blankly at a remittance slip. Early that morning, the postman had delivered a remittance slip and various coupons to Fu Wenwen's door.

Seeing Lin Feng's name clearly written on it, she was surprised. He had actually sent fifty yuan home. Fu Wenwen had expected him to send the money to the Lin family, but she hadn't anticipated it being sent to her.

Her impression of Lin Feng shifted from a jinx to a responsible man.

Even though he didn't like her, and their marriage was forced, he was still fulfilling his responsibilities as a husband. It was hard to dislike such a man.

"Look, An An, this is the money your dad sent. Mom will buy you some meat to eat!" Fu Wenwen said with a smile to Lin An. Lin Feng had sent the money specifically so she could take good care of Lin An. Fu Wenwen planned to keep the money separate and record it in a ledger.

Considering it as Lin An's money, she would use all of it for him.

"Mmm," Lin An nodded heavily upon hearing about meat.

After Fu Wenwen took Lin An to town to withdraw the money, she then joined the queue to buy meat. The provision store had a limited supply of meat each day. Fu Wenwen arrived late, and the fattest streaky pork had long been sold out. All that remained were pig trotters and ribs, the least popular cuts.

"Master, how much are these ribs?" Fu Wenwen asked.

"Little girl, there isn't much meat on these, mostly bones. It's not worth your while to buy them!" an aunt passing by said, looking at Fu Wenwen, as a reminder.
