Chapter 658 Interrogating the Old Woman

"Is there any justice? Take them to the Public Security Bureau first, and I'll tell you everything slowly!" Several police officers were dragging the three away.

The two men suddenly struggled and tried to resist. The officers holding them pushed them to the ground. Seizing the opportunity, they tried to escape.

The classmates beside Fu Wenwen saw them trying to run and crowded around to help. Fu Wenwen's side became momentarily clear.

Seeing this, the two men immediately ran towards Fu Wenwen.

Fu Wenwen watched as the two men ran towards her. Her classmates, seeing this, quickly dodged. The two men thought they could escape, but as they passed Fu Wenwen, an irresistible force struck them.

Before they could even figure out what was happening, they felt a kick and were sent flying...

Everyone watched calmly as the two burly men were kicked away by the 'delicate' Fu Wenwen, with some even applauding.

The police officers patted the dust off their clothes and walked over to the two men. "Still want to run? Want to try again?"

"No, no..." Both men looked pale and stared at Fu Wenwen in terror.

Granny Zhang also stopped wailing. By now, she understood. She thought she had found the easiest person to manipulate.

But she had found the most formidable one.

This was no little wife! This woman was more terrifying than any man...

"Let's go! Do you still need Comrade Fu Wenwen to kick you before you'll come with us?" The police officer looked at the old woman. She shivered and resignedly followed them.

After all, her old bones couldn't withstand such a kick.

The small commotion resolved, Fu Wenwen calmly walked into the campus, her eyes scanning for Li Lan.

She found Li Lan at a guesthouse, seemingly meeting someone.

Fu Wenwen approached slowly and saw that the person Li Lan was meeting was Wei Lan from the Wei family.

The current Wei Lan was no longer the pampered young lady she once was, her arrogance gone. She was consumed by a desire for revenge. Knowing that Lu Chengsen had found the evidence against the Wei family, she sought out Li Lan and demanded that she snatch Lu Chengsen's son.

However, Li Lan had failed to complete the task Wei Lan had set for her.

Fu Wenwen, recalling the old woman from earlier, thought about how the old woman had targeted her and not the many other girls on the road. Now, it seemed, it was likely Wei Lan's arrangement.

Wei Lan wanted to target Fu Wenwen and have her trafficked to the mountains, but her plan had failed. All three were now being interrogated at the Public Security Bureau.

Fu Wenwen sat lazily in front of her experimental field, gazing at the vibrant green expanse. She sat there as if time had stood still, and no one dared to disturb her.

But everyone was unaware that beneath the serene facade, a glint of fierceness flashed in Fu Wenwen's eyes.

Her mind was solely focused on how to deal with Wei Lan. Thinking of the old woman from earlier, Fu Wenwen suddenly had an idea.

She rose and left the school, heading to the Public Security Bureau.

at the Public Security Bureau, the two men and the old woman were in despair over their capture. They had only wanted to earn some money, but now, their futures were ruined.

Fu Wenwen found the director and brought the old woman to the interrogation room.

The old woman, thinking she was about to be executed, trembled with fear. Upon entering and seeing Fu Wenwen, she trembled even more.

"Sit down! Tell me, who told you to capture me?" Fu Wenwen asked, gesturing for the old woman to sit.

"Just... just a female comrade," the old woman stammered nervously.

"If I tell you, will you let me go home?"

"We'll see how you behave. Going home is impossible, but you can strive for merit to redeem yourself!" Fu Wenwen advised.

The old woman's eyes dimmed.

"What do you want to know?" the old woman asked, glancing at Fu Wenwen.

"Where did you sell the girls you kidnapped?" Fu Wenwen asked directly.

The old woman stiffened. "I don't know what you're talking about. I was just called by her."

"Then tell me, where is your home? Who else is in your family, and what do you do for a living?" Fu Wenwen looked at the old woman's clothes. Although her outer garments were tattered, they couldn't hide the good cotton lining of her inner clothes.

She was definitely wealthy.

Fu Wenwen questioned the old woman, who answered as if she had prepared her responses.

Fu Wenwen noticed a hint of smugness in the old woman's expression.

"You say you live at West Alley, number 113. But West Alley, number 113, is home to an elderly couple, and they are cooking dinner right now. There's already an old woman there. Are you a ghost?" Fu Wenwen's lips curved slightly as she looked at the old woman.

The old woman froze. How could she know? This was the family she had chosen long ago, and no one paid attention to the elderly couple.

Yet Fu Wenwen had revealed their entire situation.

The old woman of that household was cooking at home, so her claiming to be that old woman was a joke.

"I see you're not telling the truth. Take her away! Bring in the two men," Fu Wenwen said calmly. As she was about to switch interrogators, the old woman quickly grabbed the table.

"I'm not going."

"Then if you're not going, why aren't you talking?" Fu Wenwen asked, amused. "Whoever provides useful information can have their sentence reduced."

"What you're saying now is not credible. Hurry up and go back. Leave the opportunity for others."

"Oh, my old back..." Seeing that she was about to be sent back, the old woman immediately collapsed on the ground, skillfully clutching her back.

Fu Wenwen looked at the old woman. "I'll give you one more chance. Speak."

"I... I just send the kidnapped girls to a courtyard. Someone there gives me money, and then they take the goods away," the old woman said with a pained expression, looking at Fu Wenwen.

"I told you, can you please not say it was me who told you?"

"What about those two men?" Fu Wenwen asked the old woman about the origin of the two men.

"They are subordinates of the supplier, specifically there to cover for me. If anything seemed wrong, they would come to help me," the old woman said, glancing cautiously at Fu Wenwen.

"I was also forced. If I didn't bring girls back, I would be the one beaten."

"You mean those two were here to monitor you?" Fu Wenwen frowned at the old woman.

The old woman nodded cautiously.

"They said they had people here, that there was no escape, and that going to the police was useless. We just had to obey. If I succeeded in kidnapping, I would get money and could do anything I wanted."

"And if you failed?" Fu Wenwen cast a glance at the old woman.

Did she think she could erase her wicked deeds by saying this?

"There would be punishment. The first time, you wouldn't get food. The second day, you'd be beaten. The third time, you might be sold as goods," the old woman said cautiously.

"Believe me, I was truly left with no choice," the old woman pleaded, grabbing Fu Wenwen's hand.

"I believe you..." Fu Wenwen said softly.

The old woman thought Fu Wenwen believed her, a glint of triumph flashing in her eyes. Before she could rejoice, she heard Fu Wenwen say:

"I believe you willingly entered this line of work, and you've done quite well, feeling like you've put your abilities to good use."
