Chapter 31: Wedding Night Teasing
When I entered the main bedroom that night, I froze. The place had been decorated, red silk draped on the walls, candles burning softly, and the bed neatly arranged with new sheets. For a moment, I just stood there, my chest tightening.
It hit me then. After the wedding day... comes the wedding night.
I swallowed hard and tried to calm myself. This marriage wasn’t for love, yet the thought of sharing this room with Mo Ying made my heart uneasy.
Talk less of us having to have sex with one another. Yes, I’m not a virgin, neither is the body I’m in right now... But I haven’t been with a man for almost a decade.
I chose it that way. Many men came my way... I went to many clubs with many men ready to have a one-night stand with me, but I always refused and turned them down.
With a sigh, I changed out of the heavy wedding dress and into something simpler, just a plain robe I could sleep in. Sitting at the edge of the bed, I waited.
Minutes passed. My hands fiddled with the edge of my sleeve. Was he even coming?
Just as I was about to lie down, the door creaked open. Mo Ying stepped inside. His tall figure filled the doorway, shadows dancing across his face from the candlelight.
Our eyes met instantly. My breath caught.
He didn’t speak, and neither did I. For that brief moment, it felt as though the world had gone silent, just me, him, and the reality that tonight, we were truly husband and wife.
Mo Ying closed the door behind him, the faint click making my heart jump.
I quickly shifted on the bed, pretending to adjust my robe. My fingers felt cold, though the room was warm from the candles.
"You’re still awake," he said at last, his voice low and steady.
"Of course," I replied, my tone sharper than I intended. "It’s... my wedding night after all. Wouldn’t it be strange if I just fell asleep?"
A faint smile tugged at his lips, though his eyes remained unreadable. "True."
He set aside his outer robe, leaving only the plain inner layer, and sat at the edge of the table for a moment, pouring himself a cup of water as though nothing was unusual about this night. I watched him quietly, my thoughts a storm.
When he finally stood and approached the bed, my breath hitched. He stopped just before me, his gaze lingering on my face.
"You don’t need to be nervous," he said softly. "I won’t force you into anything."
I blinked, stunned by the unexpected statement. I didn’t expect him to be so direct and straightforward.
Before I could respond, he reached for the quilt and pulled it over me carefully, almost like tucking in a child. Then, without another word, he turned and settled down on the wooden chair nearby instead of the bed.
For a long moment, I just stared at him. My heart was beating far too fast for a man who had done nothing but sit across the room.
"Hey!"
"What?" He turned to me.
"We have to talk! Now that we are married... we need to get some things clear." I said, as I crossed my hands, ready to pour everything I’d been thinking out.
"Keep going..." he said as he relaxed on the chair as though he knew it was going to be a long night.
"Okay, first things first, we are married. Yes, we didn’t do it for the right reasons, but we are still married so any form of cheating isn’t permitted. Unless we annul the marriage, then you must stay loyal at all costs!"
I said as he just smirked at my words. "Interesting... but I have a question!"
"What question?"
"You said no form of cheating even though we are in this ’fake’ marriage, but don’t forget that I’m a man." He said as he stood up and walked closer to me... his huge body hovering around me.
From this angle, I could see all the hidden abs his robe was covering.
Gulping slightly, I brushed my nasty thoughts and faced him head-on, "Y-you’re a man, so what does that have to do with anything?"
"I’m a man with desires, Fireball. You may have stayed eight years without having any intimate relation with a man but I’m not like you... there would be days when I feel very..." He bent down, his breath touching my neck as he said with a hoarse voice in my ear, "Horny... What will I do then? If I can’t be with any other woman apart from you... then I’ll just have to..."
Standing up immediately, I placed my hands in a karate format, ready to defend myself if he made a move.
Blushing hard, I said, "Y-y-you better stay away from me... You said you won’t touch me."
"It wasn’t a promise so it can be taken back," he said laughing. "Enough, enough, this is really funny."
He said, making his way back to the wooden chair as I just stood there, glaring at him. I felt like punching him in the face for teasing me.
Taking a deep breath, I then said, "If that’s the case then I could make a sacrifice depending on the situation of things... unless you better hold on to those nasty desires of yours till..."
"Till when?" he said, taking me by surprise.
"Well... till..." It then dawned on me that I didn’t even think about what would happen after we got married. Now Big Man Lou’s problem is solved, Aunt Lu can’t marry me off anymore because I’m no longer tied to their family by marriage, so what happens next?
Are we both going to remain married till the other gets tired or what? What are we even—
Suddenly, Mo Ying said, "Don’t think too hard or you’ll have a headache. For now, I’m your husband and I’m here. ’Now’ is what happens at the moment. ’Tomorrow’s’ problem will come when it’s time, don’t force a solution out of something that has yet to happen."
He said as he then stood up and walked towards the bed.
Laying on the other side, he then blew out the candle and said softly, "Good night, Fireball." As he slept off.
Laying down as well, I just stared at the ceiling. He had a point, tomorrow would come on its own, I didn’t have to force any solution... One step at a time.
