Chapter 608: Chapter 608: Mr. Song Stayed at the Wong Family to Wait for Her

As a student, Ji Ming had already given his trust wholeheartedly, and Wong Yangming, being a teacher, refrained from speaking further.

Tang Li woke up and went downstairs. As she passed the landing, she saw the man in the living room. Her mood was like a scattering of rainbow-colored candies, betraying a hint of excitement.

She had thought that Song Baiyan had already left because of official business.

It was very likely that she wouldn’t see him when she came downstairs.

But now, he was sitting there with Wong Yangming.

Tang Li took a few more steps down, not wanting to disturb their conversation. She deliberately softened her footsteps, but even so, when she reached the staircase, Song Baiyan seemed to notice and looked in her direction.

Afterward, he extended a hand toward her.

Song Baiyan was still sitting on the sofa, his left hand wearing a watch suspended in mid-air. He was not in the grey shirt from last night. It seems that with Ji Ming’s arrival at the courtyard and as her thoughts fluttered, Tang Li stepped into the living room. Looking at Song Baiyan’s well-defined large hand, as if yearning, she jogged a few steps and placed her hand in his palm.

Song Baiyan tightened his grip slightly, gently holding her small hand.

But, Tang Li felt that something was awry.

It wasn’t until after breakfast that Tang Li found out Song Baiyan had stayed at the Wong Family home, waiting for her.

When Song Baiyan asked her if she had packed her things, Tang Li was briefly stunned. Thankfully, Wong Yangming had just stepped out. Song Baiyan put his tea cup back on the long table, and, uncharacteristically, urged her, “If you haven’t finished packing, go now.”

Back in her guest room, Tang Li finally realized.

Song Baiyan had held her hand in front of Wong Yangming. Wong Yangming did not seem surprised, as if he already knew about their real relationship and had no objections to it.

Tang Li went downstairs carrying her backpack. Gao Wenlan and her husband were already in the guest room.

Seeing Tang Li, Gao Wenlan gave her a sidelong glance.

Song Baiyan had already risen to his feet.

Gao Wenlan and Wong Yangming accompanied their guest to the entrance of the western-style house. Before Tang Li descended the steps, she turned back and hesitantly did something she had been contemplating since leaving the living room—she stepped forward and hugged Gao Wenlan.

Even though she didn’t call her “Godmother,” Tang Li still said her farewells, “Take care of your health, you and Professor Wong. If you write novels, don’t stay up late. Aging quickens if you lose sleep, and no amount of bird’s nest can compensate for it.”

“…” That wretched girl is deliberately provoking me.

Gao Wenlan murmured her dissatisfaction, but her heart felt differently.

Secretly, she pinched Tang Li stealthily.

Tang Li winced in pain at her waist: “…”

By the side of the road leading from the western-style house, there were two black SUVs.

Tang Li followed Song Baiyan into the car, clutching her backpack. After Ji Ming had gotten into the car and closed the door, she then voiced, “Teacher Gao and Professor Wong know about our relationship.”

As she spoke, she turned her head, “How did they find out?”

The moment the words left, Tang Li glanced at the rearview mirror.

Ji Ming met her eyes, feeling inexplicably like he was being implicated…

Fortunately, Mr. Song cleared him of the accusation.

Learning that Song Baiyan had told them himself, Tang Li couldn’t help but earnestly caution, “We still need to keep a low profile in public.”

“…,” Ji Ming.

Gao Wenlan treated her like a Song Family relative. At last night’s dinner table, she was seemingly regarded as Song Baiyan’s junior. Tang Li couldn’t help but wonder how Song Baiyan explained to Wong Yangming and Gao Wenlan that he was involved with a girl more than a decade his junior.

If it were her, she would have felt awkward even before speaking.

Not until the SUV left the courtyard did Song Baiyan tighten his grip on her left hand, “It came up casually in conversation. You don’t need to worry about these things; your job is to focus on learning and acting well.”

She added, “And to make more money.”
