Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Hali’s Bizarre Adventure

Shen Sui looked at this reminder, feeling a kind of wild joy.

In the Life Card deck, besides the Soul Cards that can evolve into new forms due to level up, behavior, mood changes, etc., those followers previously drawn can also undergo new transformations for similar reasons, often accompanied by subtle changes in appearance, thus being referred to as Alternate Art.

Unlike other card games, in Life Card Duels, the star level, Spirit Value, and effects of an Alternate Art card can vary due to the Follower Card’s level up, practically similar to the various forms of Soul Cards.

But unlike Soul Cards, these Alternate Art Forms of Follower Cards cannot be switched during a duel; you can only choose the appropriate Alternate Art face for this Follower Card in the Dueling Device.

This choice is reversible, as you can revert the Follower Card back to its previous appearance, but such operations can only be done outside of duels. Therefore, when constructing the deck, you need to think about what form this card will take in the upcoming duel. However, Soul Cards can freely switch their various forms during the duel.

There are many situations where an Alternate Art card might appear, such as when a follower levels up or gains a new destiny-changing outfit.

One of the most classic types of alternate art cards is the Bride’s Alternate Art, which is obtained when a female Follower Card wears a wedding dress at her marriage in Soul Card World.

Usually, the All New Altered Art card generated by new outfits does not affect the Follower Card’s stats, but there are exceptions. For instance, in some Immortal Soul Card worlds, certain sects become stronger through marriage and divorce; different Bride Cards will have different stats.

Incidentally, this type of Alternate Art card is also one way many people circumvent the Forbidden Card restrictions. The Forbidden Card identification points to a unique Life Card code for each card, and the Alternate Art card has a different Life Card code. Unfortunately, the conditions for the birth of an Alternate Art card are extremely harsh and are by no means as simple as changing a set of clothes.

Hali’s situation, however, is somewhat special.

Her stats do not have any changes.

It’s just that her form changed from a wolf to a.... um.... loli dog girl?

Shen Sui looked at the updated Alternate Art of [Silver Moon Wolf King Hali].

She has short silver hair, a pair of cute wolf ears perked up high, wearing an adult’s clothing of unknown origin scavenged from some unfortunate passerby’s house, which looked a bit loose on Hali. Fortunately, the necessary places were well-covered. Otherwise, Shen Sui wouldn’t dare to use this card in reality.

Aside from this, there were no changes to this card; its star level, Spirit Value, and effect remained unchanged.

However, this alternate art card brings me one step closer to a full girls’ card deck.

I wonder if there’s a way to give Alice’s Little Mare a girl card form as well. I remember there should be a racing girl potion in the game. (A transformation magic potion for horse-like magical beasts, jokingly referred to by players as racing girl potion.)

Racing girls are something that can exist after all.

After all, there is a similar Beast Taming Soul Card World.

[Hali hugged Alice, lamenting her painful experiences over these past days.]

[Alice was glad for Hali’s return and enthusiastically introduced her to her friends.]

[Hali met Oshana and was afraid of Anna, who was hiding behind Alice the entire time.]

[Alice began to listen to Hali’s experiences.]

[After leaving Alice, Hali chose to head to Paiyiga City first to investigate in order to lure Rhine.]

[However, just as she approached Paiyiga City, she unexpectedly encountered a silver-haired girl. The girl seemed to sense an unusual scent from Hali and decisively captured her.]

["Hali will not betray her master!" Hali said in passing, expressing her loyalty to Alice.]

[But that girl seemed to have the ability to search memories and learned Hali’s purpose for this trip effortlessly.]

[After examining the relics on Hali belonging to Fern Zelie, the girl became interested in the wealth of the Zelie Clan, so she dashed into Paiyiga City holding Hali.]

["She claimed it was a stealth mission, but I don’t think that killing everyone and then going in can be considered stealth," Hali mocked.]

[Alice found it understandable: "Isn’t it right? As long as no one notices, it’s successful infiltration."]

[The following events, just like in the rumors, the girl barged into the Zelie Clan’s castle, killing Rein Zelie, and then seized possession of the place.]

["Then why did you become like this?" Alice asked curiously.]

["I ate some strange magic potions in Zelie Castle, which seemed to be experimental potions made by Rein Zelie, and then I became like this."]

["What kind of magic potion?" Oshana asked curiously. Transformation potions are extremely precious and often carry various side effects, which could significantly shorten Hali’s lifespan.]

[Hali showed a troubled expression, thought for a long time, and said: "That girl called it ’Forbidden Big Bro.’"]

Seeing this sentence, Shen Sui abruptly sat up.

Because the "Forbidden Big Bro" potion is a meme created by Shen Sui in the game "Dawn Link."

In the game, there are various potions with strange uses, and there are naturally potions for transforming magical beasts. Among them, to cater to the XP system of numerous players, there are potions for specific kinds of beast people transformation. Using this potion on a specific type of magical beast results in no side effects.

The most popular ones are catgirl potions and dragon lady potions, followed by octopus girl potions, cockroach girl potions, and so on.

Dog girl potions weren’t particularly outstanding among these magic potions, but due to Shen Sui’s inappropriate operations during the first playthrough, the potion earned the nickname "Forbidden Big Bro" in the game.

Because during the first playthrough, Shen Sui fed this potion to all canine and wolf magical beasts across the entire Dawn Continent that appeared in front of him, creating a canine girl tribe in his first playthrough save file. Everyone speculated whether Shen Sui did this astonishing operation because he had just finished watching Fullmetal Alchemist and developed PTSD as a result.

This meme was supposed to be known only to himself.

Could anyone in the Dawn Continent know?

Uh... possibly, it seems during the second playthrough, I renamed these potions in my backpack to "Forbidden Big Bro"... But back then, it was just for fun. I also named my Star-extinguishing Staff "Merciful Maxim."

However, modifying backpack items only affected the items in the backpack; replenishing them after use would restore their original names.

Shen Sui opened the input bar and typed in the words.

[You ask Alice to inquire about the name of the girl from Hali.]

[Without hesitation, Hali answered: "Qishala, she said her name is Qishala Monade."]

???

Wait, isn’t Qishala the Star Abyss White Dragon I rode in the second playthrough?

Shen Sui’s heart jolted, and he immediately inputted a command to activate search magic on Zelie Castle.

However, before the results came out, an unexpected event interrupted Shen Sui.

[A beautiful silver-haired girl tracked Hali’s trace and found Alice.]

[Her gaze swept past Anna and Oshana, finally landing on Alice.]

[She curiously regarded Alice.]

["You have a very pleasant scent. Who are you?" the silver-haired girl asked curiously.]
