Chapter 1859: Chapter 1861: Buy Them to Sell in My Own Shop
"A friend’s?" This person was chubby, and as he spoke, the flesh on his face jiggled. However, when he talked, his eyes sparkled, clearly indicating that he was a very shrewd and calculating person.
He asked, "Not selling today?"
"Yes, not today." Yang Chuxia saw a hint of regret flash across his face, so she added, "There are some matters to attend to these days. The shop is closed, but it will reopen in a few days. If you want to buy furs, come back then."
"Is that so?" The visitor nodded, "Well, a slight delay is no big deal."
After speaking, he was about to leave but then returned after walking few steps and said, "Young man, is your friend available now? Can you introduce us? Of course, I won’t let you down."
"Why do you want to meet him?" Yang Chuxia asked curiously.
This chubby fellow rubbed the flesh on his face and said, "It’s a good thing; meeting him is definitely a good thing. I want to know how many hides he still has on hand; I’d like to buy them all."
Seemingly afraid Yang Chuxia wouldn’t take him along, he added, "I won’t shortchange him. If he asks for thirty liang per piece, then thirty liang it is. No bargaining. I’ll buy as many as he has."
Hearing his intention, Yang Chuxia understood.
She laughed, "You want to buy them and sell them in your own shop, don’t you?"
Yang Chuxia recalled who this person was, noting why he looked familiar. He’s a manager of a silk shop in the Capital City, and his words clearly indicate he wants to buy and sell at his own shop.
After all, Lele sells cheaply. Buying and reselling at a high price would earn him a nice margin, not to mention avoiding costs of shipping and risks from sourcing in the Northwest.
Yang Chuxia thought, my good son, luckily I found your shop early and stopped you. Otherwise, after all that effort and risk, transporting goods from such a distant place, you’d make only a meager profit. You’d suffer losses, and be the laughingstock of every silk shop in Capital City.
When the visitor heard Yang Chuxia like this, he didn’t deny it but laughed, "That’s right, that was my plan. Selling such quality to those paupers is too much of a loss." To him, those average wealthy folks, and folks like managers and nannies were paupers, entirely unfit to wear fine materials.
Each one is so foolish they can’t recognize the good from the bad, they would spoil the fine fabrics.
"You’re probably too late." Yang Chuxia chuckled, "I bought my friend’s hide."
"What? You bought them?" The visitor’s voice grew louder, clearly shocked.
"Yes, I bought them."
"I thought I was quick, but I was still one step late." The visitor was clearly disheartened, waved his hand, saying, "Since you bought them, then so be it."
He walked a few steps, turned back to Yang Chuxia, and said, "You are better at business than your friend. Your friend is such a, such a waste!"
He shook his head and left.
Yang Chuxia watched his wobbling silhouette leave, feeling speechless.
Unexpectedly, before she was ready to leave, another person came with the same purpose as the chubby guy, intending to purchase hides and sell them at his silk shop.
When Lele returned that evening, Yang Chuxia told him about the events of the day, and Little Lele’s face turned red and green.
