Chapter 337: Chapter 337: Returning to Hai City
Early the next morning, Lu Zheng and his companion were having breakfast at the hotel when they noticed some commotion over at the navy base.
"Looks like they’ve discovered it," Lu Zheng said, rubbing his chin.
"A whole plane is missing, how could they not notice?" Lin Wan scooped a spoonful of millet porridge into her mouth, her face rosy and skin glowing, yet she looked a bit worried, "Do you think we might have caused too much of a stir this time?"
After developing Martial Dao Blood Qi and taking various Heavenly and Earthly Treasures that Lu Zheng provided, Lin Wan now feels increasingly confident in her own strength.
Resisting bullets, fast as lightning.
Despite occasionally wearing Black Widow’s outfits, she’s long surpassed her, and even Captain America probably wouldn’t stand a chance.
With their combined strength, they could easily cause chaos at this navy base.
But that’s not how things are done.
The modern world is still a technology-driven world dominated by regular humans, without Captain America or Iron Man, without vampires or Unparalleled Sword Immortals; they’re all fictional characters.
Have you ever considered the impact such characters would have on the world if they appeared?
Have you thought about the possible reactions from the high-level officials of all major countries?
All sorts of individuals, whether benevolent, malicious, or simply curious, would come flooding in.
Reality is not a movie.
Your martial arts might be powerful, and you might have developed Qi Sensitivity to kick people sky-high, but that’s just about the limit. You can become invisible, store items in space, dodge bullets, and even single-handedly cause havoc at a military base...
What are you trying to pull?
Once you release the arrow, there’s no turning back; if exposed, you would have no choice but to go all the way.
For now, Lu Zheng is not willing to create an effect that could upend modern worldviews, and Lin Wan is also apprehensive about the changes their exposure might bring, so she’s been doing her best to help Lu Zheng conceal things.
Bravado is easy, but restraint is hard.
Thus, by using their extraordinary powers, they directly spirited away an F35 fighter jet from the Lighthouse Country’s navy base and nearly half a warehouse of thermobaric bombs. Lin Wan felt thrilled at the time, even challenging Lu Zheng to an all-night duel, but upon reflection, she still feels a bit uneasy.
"Aren’t we being too conspicuous?"
Lu Zheng reassured, "Don’t worry, we weren’t exposed. Would anyone really jump to the conclusion of extraordinary powers? Think about how that officer speculated yesterday?"
Lin Wan nodded.
Though the conversation ended, the other party obviously leaned towards guessing involvement from spies from other countries or some bigwig within the Lighthouse Country’s military.
In fact, the latter seems more likely, given that internal factional disputes within the Lighthouse Country are no small thing.
"So..."
"Of course, it’s an inside job!" Lu Zheng nodded solemnly, "It might even be related to the disappearance of those six soldiers last night."
Insiders teamed up with outsiders, planning to steal the F35 fighter jet from the base, accidentally discovered by Eric and his team, leading to those unfortunate Lighthouse Country soldiers being silenced.
Afterward, instead of backing off due to the accident, they proceeded as usual and silently infiltrated the base at night to take away a fighter jet.
As for why the surveillance caught nothing and the patrols found no traces...
Well, it must be due to the opponents’ outstanding skills and the perfect coordination with the insiders!
Hence, the next move by the navy base is likely to conduct a thorough investigation on any traitors, possibly stirring the organization and maybe even uncovering some real insiders?
However, it certainly has nothing to do with this incident because the actual insiders involved would never be found...
But of course, this has nothing to do with Lu Zheng and his companion...
Listening to Lu Zheng’s serious analysis of the aftermath, Lin Wan felt speechless.
However, it kind of made sense, didn’t it?
Put yourself in someone else’s shoes; would you think this case was orchestrated by an extraordinary human who mastered the Invisibility Technique and possessed Space Equipment?
If you dare write such a report, are you not insulting the intelligence of those bigwigs?
So Lin Wan smiled brightly, biting into another croissant to replenish her energy after last night’s bout.
Lu Zheng laughed and said, "Our flight is in the afternoon, so we still have plenty of time. Let’s go explore Osaka City again this morning."
Lin Wan nodded, "Alright, I’ll grab some souvenirs for Xiumin and my colleagues."
...
Losing a fighter jet, they’re probably frantic over at the navy base, but Osaka City doesn’t seem to reflect any of that turmoil.
After all, it’s peacetime now; although the Lighthouse Country technically oversees Japan, they can’t just lock down such a large city whenever they please, especially when there are tens of thousands of tourists here.
So, after having breakfast, checking out of the hotel, Lu Zheng and Lin Wan leisurely wandered around Osaka City again, buying souvenirs and local specialties, and even enjoyed a local Japanese meal for lunch before catching their flight to Hai City in the afternoon.
...
"When will we deliver the plane?"
"No rush, let’s wait a few months."
"Hmm." Lu Zheng nodded, understanding Lin Wan’s intentions.
Don’t underestimate others; if they immediately delivered the plane, simply checking relevant personnel’s travel itineraries from both places would make their profiles highly conspicuous.
But if they wait a few months, with more suspects around, then Lu Zheng could sneak out on an out-of-town trip without using any transportation, and even if Sherlock Holmes or Di Renjie reincarnated, they’d never guess it was them.
"What to eat?"
"Let’s have hot pot!" Lin Wan suggested, "Japanese food is a bit too light; I want something heavier."
"Heavier?." Lu Zheng raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, why?" Lin Wan asked.
"No reason." Lu Zheng shook his head, "I’m just thinking about which type of hot pot we should have, Mountain City or Fujian style."
"Definitely Mountain City!"
"Let’s go!"
...
After enjoying a Mountain City hot pot, when they returned home hand-in-hand that evening, they found the parcel from Japan had already arrived.
Various toys, figurines, manga, DVDs, and... clothes?
So...
Lu Zheng and Lin Wan carefully admired these outfits they brought back from Japan, with Lin Wan even trying on a few.
The 2B outfit was a bit tight, but Buzhihuo Wu’s outfit fit perfectly.
They’re all combat uniforms, designed not to restrict any action or pose, and Lin Wan even collaborated with Lu Zheng to try out some challenging poses from certain anime.
Turns out, frequent changing of outfits is a real workout; Lin Wan got a bit tired after just a few.
"I need a break!" Lin Wan panted.
"Alright." Lu Zheng nodded, musing, "I didn’t expect them all to be Tifa’s outfits; this vest and skirt have so many detailed variations."
Lin Wan gritted her teeth, "Just talk properly and stop fidgeting!"
"Okay!"
"Hmm..."
Lin Wan blinked and gave Lu Zheng a firm slap, resigning to her fate...
