Chapter 327: Chapter 325 Recognized Undercover Operative_1
Emily had merely given a brief thought before calling out Morimoto Chiyoda’s bluff. However, she had no intention of leaving her out in the cold and pressed the button to open the door.
The door automatically opened.
The convenience brought by technological advancement is that one can have the door open automatically without needing to go out.
Morimoto Chiyoda stepped into the yard and walked to the doorway. With a CLICK, the red light turned to green, and the door swung open.
A blast of cool air swiftly burst out from the inside. Emily’s habit at home hadn’t changed; she liked to set the air conditioning to around seventeen or eighteen degrees.
The THUDDING footsteps came from the staircase. Emily, dressed in winter fleece pajamas with two bunny ears wiggling as she walked, looked especially cute with that small face of hers.
Even the shoes on her feet were fluffy bunny slippers.
"Do you need something?"
"Before we discuss any matters, I’d like Katerina to serve me a cup of tea first," Morimoto Chiyoda replied with a smile, sitting down in an armchair and crossing her legs.
This posture made Emily roll her eyes. "Uninvited guests sure have a lot of demands," she said irritably.
Katerina quickly brought out the tea, pouring a cup for Morimoto Chiyoda, who smiled and said, "Thank you, Katerina."
"Morimoto, the car you drove today is very luxurious."
Katerina’s phone could also access the exterior surveillance. She noticed Morimoto Chiyoda had arrived in a Lamborghini, a vehicle far above what she drove when they were in the special task force.
Morimoto Chiyoda took a sip of the tea, a satisfied smile on her face. "This is a gift from the Prime Minister."
"Have you fallen?"
Emily’s eyes widened, and the first thing that came to her mind was Kumazo Yasuda with his greasy, oily face.
THUMP. Morimoto Chiyoda knocked her on the forehead, reproachfully saying, "Don’t start thinking those disrespectful thoughts."
"I’m the owner of the house."
Emily complained about her violent behavior, rubbing her forehead and saying, "Does Yasuda want to use this car to trade for my return to the task force?"
"Of course not. This car is mine," Morimoto Chiyoda shook her head, cutting straight to the point. "I’m now the Police Director of the Metropolitan Police Department."
"What did you say?!"
This news made Emily leap up, standing barefoot on the couch in shock. "You, you’re the Police Director? Then what about Ponte..."
Her face turned serious. "That guy got taken out by Dio so quickly?"
"That’s right."
Morimoto Chiyoda nodded, taking out her phone. "This is a video sent to the task force by the CIA. Take a look."
After watching it, both Emily and Katerina showed shock on their faces.
At the same time, Emily also clearly understood what was meant by ’a man’s words are full of deceit.’ That bastard Jack, telling her he wanted to hire her as a private aide. However, with such a significant event occurring, he hadn’t even informed her. Had Morimoto Chiyoda not taken the initiative to come over, Emily would have known nothing about Ponte’s death, let alone the events preceding his demise.
"Knowing this news, the higher-ups must be having sleepless nights."
"The Prime Minister did indeed seem to have dark circles. He probably didn’t get much sleep last night," Morimoto Chiyoda said, returning her phone to her pocket and speaking earnestly, "Emily, I want to recruit you back to the task force to chase after Dio with us."
"Are you joking?"
Emily came back to her senses and quickly shook her head. She was already preparing to infiltrate Dio’s ranks and use her feminine wiles and had no interest in returning to the task force.
"If they parachute another leader in on me and then use the excuse of me stepping through the door with my left foot first to kick me out, then I’d be nothing but a total Clown."
She sat down, crossing her arms over her chest. "I absolutely will not return to the task force."
"Emily."
"Morimoto, if you’re going to continue to talk about this, then just get out!"
Seeing such a strong reaction from Emily, Morimoto Chiyoda felt a bit puzzled. Given their relationship, Emily had no reason to be so vehemently opposed. At most, she would cross her arms, tilt her head, and keep grumbling to Morimoto with a pouting face about Ponte and their actions. She shouldn’t be taking out her anger on Morimoto.
"Emily, don’t be so angry. I promise there won’t be a next time."
"What’s the use of your promise? You’re probably just a puppet Police Director secured through compromise. Get out and don’t delay Katerina and my trip to the Marui Department Store!"
"Wait, Emily," Morimoto Chiyoda called out.
Katerina grabbed Morimoto’s shoulder and, while leading her out, said to her, "Alright, Emily’s very angry now. When you come back next time, remember to choose a time when she’s well-fed. She’ll be less grumpy then."
The door shut. With a helpless look, Morimoto Chiyoda turned to leave the yard. She got into the Lamborghini, and as she ignited the engine, its pleasant sound filled the air.
She drove the Lamborghini forward for over a kilometer. Then, she searched for the nearby Marui Department Store, parked the car on the side, and opted to take a taxi.
Morimoto Chiyoda believed that Emily had her reasons for saying those things.
Therefore, Morimoto Chiyoda ended up in the restroom of the Marui Department Store, in a stall in the middle row.
She was confident in her understanding of others, just not certain of the exact timing of Emily’s arrival. Morimoto Chiyoda glanced at her phone, knowing that if she was too late, she would have to request the Prime Minister to change the time of the Police Director’s induction.
About fifteen minutes later, she heard someone knocking on a stall door from outside.
"Is anyone there?"
"Someone’s here."
The door of the adjacent stall opened.
Morimoto Chiyoda stretched out her hand to grab the right-side partition, pushed off with her legs, stepped on the water tank, flipped over the stall partition, and landed in front of Emily, complaining, "Why did you choose to meet like this?"
"No choice. This is the most likely place to avoid Dio’s gaze."
Emily shrugged, smiling. "I don’t think he would stoop to peeping or eavesdropping on women in the bathroom."
Morimoto Chiyoda’s expression grew serious. "You’ve been targeted by Dio?"
"Well, let’s just say that my relationship with Dio is a bit complicated right now. We’re in a phase of trying to be friends."
Emily began explaining her relationship with Dio and revealed the six conditions to ascend to Paradise.
"Dio didn’t tell me the sixth condition. He said he’d only reveal it once I prove to be a trustworthy friend."
"Is that so..." Morimoto Chiyoda said, taking a deep breath. She hadn’t expected Emily to come away with such critical information from just stepping out for a bit.
Fourteen secret phrases, specific locations, a trustworthy friend, the souls of sinners, and most importantly, the relinquishing of one’s abilities.
This meant Dio would lose all his powers and enter his most vulnerable state.
"Emily, are you going to go undercover beside Dio?"
"This is the best opportunity for a honey trap. I want you to contact Jack and let him know my current situation, so that his previous offer for me to be his private secretary doesn’t turn into an empty promise."
Having watched that video, Emily was even more convinced that to defeat Dio, one couldn’t rely on brute force but had to outsmart him.
"Alright, I’ll inform him. Be careful."
"Don’t worry. If anything comes up in the future, we’ll use this detective forum to post and communicate, with a prearranged code."
Emily took out her phone, opened a novel forum, and began to set up a secret code and potential meeting places with Morimoto Chiyoda. These would be either bathhouses or restrooms. Only in these two types of locations was it most likely to avoid Dio’s surveillance.
At two-thirty in the afternoon, the first class ended.
Ayatsuki Ayaka slammed her upright textbook down and collapsed on the desk, saying, "I’m so tired. There are still two more classes before I can go home. Private schools are too tough. Public schools are better. Sometimes there are only two classes in the afternoon."
"Iroha, you complain every day," Tama Chan retorted and took out her phone.
This action quickly caught Ayatsuki Ayaka’s attention. "Maru, did you get a new boyfriend?" she asked curiously.
"Yeah, this time it’s a pet blogger with 180,000 subscribers. His Alaskan husky is so strong, and it feels great to pet it. Let me show you."
Tama Chan opened YouTube, and the first recommended video was titled ["Once in a Millennium Beauty Becomes Police Director"].
The phrase "once in a millennium" ignited Tama Chan’s competitive spirit. It made her pause the video instead of swiping it away, and she watched it with interest.
Ayatsuki Ayaka leaned over to see the name Morimoto Chiyoda.
"No way?" she muttered, then looked at the young woman in the video with long black hair tied in a single ponytail.
The woman was dressed in a light blue Police Director uniform, complete with epaulettes.
Her bust was impressive.
"Together with all of you, I will protect the peace of Tokyo and crack down on those criminals!"
The video captured this last sentence spoken by her and then her bow before it ended.
The comments section was in an uproar.
Tama Chan clicked to read them.
"Wow, she’s so beautiful." "Can beauty put food on the table? Criminals in Tokyo won’t stop committing crimes because the Police Director is attractive."
"Irresponsible." "There’s definitely some shady manipulation behind the scenes."
Ayatsuki Ayaka wasn’t much interested in the comments. She swallowed hard and said, "She probably has nothing to do with the old witch who charmed Aozawa, just a namesake, right?"
"What a pity."
Takahashi Saeko came over and said, "This new Police Director is the Morimoto Chiyoda that Aozawa can’t give up on."
"Why are all my rivals so tough?" Ayatsuki Ayaka slumped onto the table in dismay.
Takahashi Saeko patted her head and said, "You could also give up."
"No, I won’t give up!"
Ayatsuki Ayaka quickly regained her fighting spirit. "I’ll become a mega-blogger and take her on!"
"Good luck."
Takahashi Saeko shrugged, her eyes narrowing slightly. Morimoto Chiyoda had actually risen to become the Police Director; it seemed that something big was happening in Tokyo. She remembered the previous Police Director, Ponte, was the eldest son of the Morgans Group and had died in the line of duty just days after taking office. He was no ordinary person. The secrets hidden behind this incident made her curious yet afraid to touch them. It was her parents’ teaching that when someone tries to uncover secrets beyond their capabilities, danger is already lurking nearby. She didn’t want to go against it.
