Chapter 336: Chapter 224 Who’s the little girl again? _3
"Elder Su, I shall withdraw now. This is as far as I’ll accompany you," said the servant respectfully as he closed the door.
Despite his perplexity, Su Bei understood in his heart that perhaps this was one of the rules of the Multi-Bao Pavilion—strictly hierarchical. This further confirmed Su Bei’s suspicion: the Pavilion Master of the Multi-Bao Pavilion was probably a stubborn old-timer. He couldn’t help but smack his lips, thankful that the Sword Sect wasn’t like this. Otherwise, the mere thought of his disciples acting so subserviently towards him would make him feel oddly uncomfortable.
Then, he headed towards that room.
At that moment, the wooden pavilion’s door facing the lake was wide open. No one was in sight. Only a petite figure, shoes and socks removed, knelt barefoot on the immaculate wooden floor, engrossed in arranging a delicate purple daisy bonsai. Alongside it, two plain white chrysanthemums stood, elegant and subdued, like distinguished scholars among flowers.
Su Bei was slightly startled as he looked at the small, porcelain-white face. The girl was short, with large, round eyes, above which her long lashes fluttered as she seriously pruned the bonsai.
A loli!!
A thought flashed through Su Bei’s mind.
Whose little girl is this? Could she be the daughter of the Multi-Bao Pavilion Master?
He hurriedly suppressed the inappropriate thoughts forming in his mind, casting anything related to the ’three virtues of a loli’ to the back of his head.
"Little sister, where is your father?" he asked.
The little girl in white frowned slightly, put down her scissors, and looked up at Su Bei.
"Elder Su, you’ve arrived?" Her voice was as light as snow, but her accent was a bit odd.
Su Bei walked over to her with a smile. Eyeing the scissors in her hand, he snatched them away. "May I take a look?"
The girl in white’s grip tightened as she snatched them back, eyeing Su Bei warily.
Seeing her reaction, Su Bei reached out and stroked her head. She looked at him with eyes full of shock and surprise, her face flushing red.
"Where is the Pavilion Master?" he asked, looking around.
Unable to bear it any longer, she suddenly sprang up and delivered a sharp rap to the top of Su Bei’s head!
After giving him a disdainful glance, she placed her small hands on her hips. Her large, pitch-black eyes fixed incredulously on Su Bei as she tilted her small face upward and declared, "I am the Pavilion Master!!"
Huh??
Su Bei halted his creepy-uncle thought process.
He scrutinized her carefully—top to bottom, left to right, front to back.
Then he chuckled, rubbed his head, and reached out to grasp the collar of her clothes, lifting her up like a little chick. "Little sister, stop joking," he said, amused. "Where is the Pavilion Master? The Multi-Bao Pavilion owes this uncle here several million spiritual stones."
"..."
The girl in white lifted her head and glared at Su Bei with extreme indignation, her voice cold as she demanded, "Put me down!!"
Watching her puff up her cheeks and open her mouth wide, Su Bei took out a piece of candy from his storage ring and popped it into her mouth. "You don’t eat humans, do you?"
"..."
"Humans don’t taste good. Of course, I don’t eat them."
This statement was muffled and unclear, mixed with saliva.
Not tasty?
Su Bei’s eyes narrowed as he scrutinized her, not believing for a moment that she was joking.
Cold sweat suddenly broke out on his back.
Could it be... could it be she has eaten one before?
Then he shook his head, chiding himself for jumping to such conclusions.
"So, when will you be putting me down?"
"..."
Su Bei smiled sheepishly and then set her down properly.
The next instant, a terrifying Spiritual Energy emanated from her body—but... perhaps it couldn’t even be described as Spiritual Energy. This familiar presence was something Su Bei had encountered before.
That night, beneath the Unrepentant Cliff, he had encountered such a terrifying presence. It was Demonic Qi.
Su Bei took a deep breath, his eyes filled with grave seriousness as he looked at her.
If I had truly considered her just an ordinary little girl at that moment...
"Could it be that you are actually the Multi-Bao Pavilion Master?"
The shock in his heart was indescribable!
The Pavilion Master of the Multi-Bao Pavilion isn’t human!
The little girl in white patted the collar that Su Bei had loosened and walked to two large flowerpots, lifting them in an extremely bizarre posture.
Perhaps it would be more fitting to say the two large flowerpots were pressing down on her.
"Elder Su, come with me."
She carefully placed one of the pots in a corner of the room. Su Bei followed her, offering to help with the flowerpots, but she wouldn’t let him.
"Please sit here for a moment!"
She busied herself again, small in stature but with a dignified expression, her two little hands gripping the handles of a large pair of shears.
SNIP, SNIP...
Su Bei had snapped out of his shock. He was certain he had seen the various elders of the Multi-Bao Pavilion. They were all human and cultivated Spiritual Energy.
What is happening here? Could I have seen wrong?
Su Bei’s gaze shifted around the room, landing on a piece of calligraphy displayed in the center.
Though he couldn’t judge its artistic merit, the sheer power of the brushstrokes felt as if they pierced through the paper. Su Bei read the characters aloud: "Embrace a Hundred Rivers."
Hearing Su Bei’s words, the little girl in white stood up, wiping the fine sweat from her forehead. Her expression filled with immense respect as she said, "This is my grandfather’s running script! Impressive, isn’t it?"
Su Bei nodded, then looked around the room filled with all sorts of sparkling treasures, and suddenly asked, "Um... are you a demon?"
"..."
As his words fell, the scissors in her small hands stilled.
Then, her eyes, blazing with anger, fixed on Su Bei. Her expression filled with annoyance, she retorted, "You’re the demon!! I didn’t think you were that kind of person!! I’m going to eat you!"
Su Bei pursed his lips slightly, glancing at the little girl in white whose cheeks were flushed and tiny body trembled. He hastily raised his hands, saying, "I apologize, I apologize! I misspoke, I misspoke!!"
The little girl harrumphed, though it was clear her spirits had dampened somewhat.
She clapped her hands, walked over to the chair opposite Su Bei, and propped herself up with both hands to hop onto it. Her delicate little legs dangled, swinging gently.
COUGH, COUGH!
She covered her mouth with her little fist, coughed ceremoniously, and then looked at Su Bei with a serious face. "Let me introduce myself. I am the current Pavilion Master of the Multi-Bao Pavilion! Ao Yue!!"
Ao Yue?
Hearing this familiar surname, Su Bei finally understood the identity of the girl before him. Or rather, he gained a glimpse into her background and couldn’t help but smile bitterly as he said, "So, you are Miss Ao Yue. Su Mou has met Miss Ao!"
He finally understood. For her, being called a demon was indeed an insult. How could her status be that of a demon? She was noble, an existence that remained in this world... a dragon.
