Chapter 589: Chapter 296: Once Holding a Grudge Against Someone, Pursue it to the End (3 more)
After a simple breakfast, the two of them headed to the company.
Now that their relationship was public, there was no need for secrecy; they no longer had to sneak in and out of the car in the early mornings and late evenings.
They took the elevator up together from the basement, and when they reached the first floor, the doors opened and people at the elevator entrance didn’t dare to enter.
Kay Forrest raised an eyebrow: "You’re not coming in? We’re going to close the doors then. If you’re late, it’s on you."
The people at the door suddenly snapped to attention and hurriedly stepped in one by one.
Once the elevator doors closed, Kay Forrest pulled Jane Quinlan into his arms due to the cramped space.
Everyone was silent; no one spoke.
And nobody dared to look back at the two of them.
At the 17th floor, Jane Quinlan needed to get off, and Kay Forrest gently ruffled her hair with an exceptionally tender voice: "Let’s have lunch together."
"Sure, give me a call when it’s time," Jane responded with a light lift of her brows and left.
Entering the office, Jane Quinlan’s steps were sprightly.
In the past, whenever she came in, everyone would suddenly fall silent as if they had seen a plague.
It was the same this time, only today Jane didn’t sheepishly walk in as usual.
She cheerfully waved to everyone in the office and loudly said: "Good morning, everyone."
The people in the office turned their heads away, but a few male colleagues waved back and wished her good morning.
Jane Quinlan tossed her bag into the locker and went into Nolan Moore’s office, as usual, taking out his teacup to pour tea.
Just as she was coming out of the tea room, she saw Nolan Moore arriving.
She pressed her lips together, smiled, and waved: "Good morning, Director Moore."
"Hmm, good morning."
He nodded and gave her an extra glance, puzzled; she seemed to be in a good mood today.
Going into the office with Nolan Moore, she placed the teacup down.
"Director Moore, please wait a moment, I’ll go fetch the office notes."
"Do you have any good news today?"
Jane Quinlan pursed her lips: "Not really."
"Then why are you so happy?"
Jane Quinlan covered her face with her hands: "Am I? Is it that obvious?"
"Yes, quite obvious."
Jane Quinlan smirked: "Maybe it’s because the holidays are coming up."
After saying this, she turned around and left, re-entering the office within three seconds.
"Director Moore, let’s start talking about work now."
"Go ahead, what’s on the schedule today?"
She opened her notebook, frowned slightly and said: "Actually, there’s not much today.
Besides a research meeting with the new product ad team this morning, there are no other arrangements."
"Okay, I got it."
"Director Moore, I’ll step out now."
After bowing, Jane Quinlan left with a light step.
If Nolan Moore had nothing pressing, she wasn’t very busy either.
In the morning, she made a call to her mother, letting her know that she’ll be coming home as planned and asking her father to prepare some delicious food.
After the call, she put down her phone and went to the restroom.
When she entered, there were two people whispering about her.
"I saw it too, the clothes she’s wearing are from Paris Fashion.
She’s so lucky; just a few days ago, I glanced at that store’s window.
The clothes inside are frighteningly expensive."
"Right, we work ourselves to death here, and it’s all to make money for her to spend.
Why does she get that? Just because she clung to Director Forrest, her fate changed.
Hey, did you hear? These past days, she’s been so guilty she hardly comes out."
"Do you need to hear it? I’ve been paying attention these last few days.
It’s been several days since she last came to the restroom."
"Nor has she been to the tea room."
As the two gossiped, Jane Quinlan leaned against the washbasin, listening.
How amusing.
Others were falling in love, yet they interfered so much, as if they wanted to meddle in outer space affairs too.
The advertising department has been quite idle these past few days.
But being idle doesn’t mean you can just sit around and gossip about others, does it?
She really couldn’t understand these people.
She avoided the restroom not wanting to hear their idle talk, not wanting to clash with them.
Yet they really knew how to push their luck.
"If you ask me, it’s understandable; with so much gossip in the company about her, she probably has no face left to show.
Now when I go to the cafeteria for lunch, as soon as people know I’m from the advertising department they come over to ask about her."
"What does she have that I don’t? The more I think about it, the less I can swallow it."
Jane Quinlan curled her lips into a smile, feeling competitive. If they were not satisfied, why didn’t they just try to snatch it? She didn’t have their hands and feet tied up.
"It’s no use being unsatisfied, she just has that knack.
Haven’t you heard? Evie Larkin’s boyfriend almost couldn’t live anymore after being seduced away by her."
