Chapter 559: Chapter 46: Krimasha Relics (7)_2
"These are not what we’re looking for, but it’s certain that they’re useful. We’ll study them later. Let’s go, we’ll search the next place."
Saying this, Andrew had already bypassed the stone sarcophagus and continued deeper.
On the other side of the stone chamber, there was another stone door.
Following the earlier method, Jones smeared blood in the groove.
The stone door opened.
A "balcony" appeared in front of everyone. Beyond the "balcony" was a breathtaking scene.
Yes, breathtaking.
A cylindrical space with at least a hundred meters in diameter and bottomless depth. The top was less than ten meters above Jones’s head. Rows of stone sarcophagi were crammed onto the walls, stacked one on top of another.
Why could they see so clearly despite the absence of firelight?
Because at a place roughly a hundred meters below them, at the center of the cylinder, a massive white light orb was suspended. Tentacle-like rays of light radiated from the orb, constantly sweeping over the sarcophagi.
The bright light illuminated the entire underground space as if it were broad daylight.
This large magical source of light that Jones had seen in the visions given by Lucy must be this light orb.
Everyone was stunned.
"You’re telling me this is a refuge?" Jones glared at Andrew angrily, "This looks more like a graveyard."
"What do you care what it is? Does it matter? I only know that our findings today will probably come out of these sarcophagi. If the people from the Krimasha era had burial traditions, then maybe we can piece together the full picture of Krimasha from what they left behind." Andrew stepped on the "balcony" railing, and jumped onto a tiny walkway attached to the wall. Step by step, he walked towards one of the sarcophagi, "Hurry up, help me open it!"
Reluctantly, Jones also jumped onto the tiny walkway.
...
"How long have Jones and the others been inside?" Adelle, clad in Silver Moon Armor, stood on the mountain, gazing at the plain.
On the plain, the Lunbak Empire’s troops had completely withdrawn. The original camp location was now littered with abandoned trash and debris.
After a long while, William, standing beside her, finally said, "Are you asking me?"
"Of course, there are only the two of us here." Adelle answered.
"But Liches are not sensitive to time, maybe the Blood Clan is more sensitive. After all, daytime is always so striking for you."
"Yes, the Blood Clan is more sensitive. They’ve been inside for two days and six hours." Adelle nodded and said, "Actually, I was wondering, it’s been so long without a word from them. Did they encounter some danger? Maybe we should go in and rescue them. Or you could try to contact Lucy to check if they’re safe."
"Can’t contact her." William shook his head, saying, "Before going in, Lucy told me that the outer wall of the ruins has an anti-magic function."
"So what should we do if they encounter danger inside and we don’t know about it?"
"Just wait. Didn’t you say the Blood Clan’s feeding interval is seven days? If they don’t come out after seven days, we’ll go in."
"Seven days..." Adelle gave William a look and glanced at the sky, "If they’re in danger, can they last seven days?"
...
"Clang! Clang! Clang!" One sarcophagus lid after another was pried off and thrown directly from the hundreds of meters high wall.
Although Jones couldn’t see the scene below, he could clearly hear the sound of the sarcophagus lids hitting the ground.
After about four hours, Andrew and Jones had searched through hundreds of sarcophagi. Compared to the total number, they were still far from searching all, but the burial goods piled up on the balcony had already formed a small mountain.
During this time, Dora and Turuk had also joined to help.
"It’s impossible for us to take all these things out. So, we need to appraise them here first and only take the important items." Sitting cross-legged, Andrew sat down on the balcony and began to examine the objects one by one carefully.
When he checked a pair of pendants engraved with the name "Lefebvre," he found a line of slightly blurred text on the back, "’Everyone has their own mission.’ Is this a motto or something? Doesn’t seem useful."
Jones stood beside him, quietly watching for a moment, then stretched his neck to look toward the bottom of the underground space. After a moment’s thought, he suddenly transformed into a bat and flew down.
"Where are you going?" Andrew yelled.
"I’m going to check out other places. You can look at the stuff, I don’t understand them anyway." Jones replied.
"Aren’t you afraid I’ll hide some things?"
"No, because you’re the one taking them out. Besides, Dora is right next to you."
Hearing this, Dora, who had initially wanted to follow, stood back and silently monitored Andrew.
Flying all the way, Jones landed at the bottom, littered with discarded sarcophagus lids. Looking around, he found another stone door at the bottom, with a groove on it as well.
On a whim, he pressed his finger on it. This time, he didn’t bite his finger, and there was no blood on it. Yet, the stone door still trembled and started glowing.
"Huh? You don’t need to bleed to open it?"
A surprising scene appeared before Jones.
A field, yes, a field.
The stone door was on a hillside.
The wind blew gently, the surrounding wild grass swaying. A stream flowed in the distance, making a "ding-dong" sound. The sky was studded with stars, and there was a moon, but not the silver, blue, or red moon of the Keltos Continent. Instead, a golden moon.
*"Is this... spatial magic?"* Jones was stunned.
He bent down to touch the wild grass, finding it was real, not an illusion. He transformed into a bat and flew high, spotting a small village in the distance. Flying toward it, he found only a village ruin. All that remained were stone walls, and the roofs of the houses had already decayed, the furniture inside crumbling at a touch.
He flapped his wings and took off again, flying with all his might to see if there were any other villages, even towns. However, soon, he crashed into an invisible wall. No matter how much he struggled, he couldn’t pass through. Not only could he not pass through, nothing could, and using magic had no effect.
The wind blew from the other side of the wall, and he could feel it. There were wild grasses on the other side. But when he looked closely at the grass under his feet, he noticed a barely discernible dividing line. Furthermore, the wild grass on the other side seemed to repeat the same movements.
*After staying for about ten minutes and confirming that he couldn’t penetrate the transparent wall, Jones could only fly back to the village he initially discovered.*
...
"Huh? This booklet..." Andrew suddenly noticed a relatively intact booklet among the pile of burial goods, "I’m sure this booklet is definitely not a thousand years old. Definitely not, not even five thousand years."
Saying this, he put the booklet away.
...
Meanwhile, Jones discovered a skeleton lying on a bed in the village inside that dimensional space. It was in a house that was still relatively intact.
Not every house had furniture that crumbled at a touch. These houses seemed to have existed for very different lengths of time.
The house Jones had just found seemed only to have been abandoned for about a hundred years.
Next to the skeleton, on a desk, there was also a gold-edged notebook.
*"Is this... a diary?" Jones was stunned after just one glance when he opened it.*
