Capítulo 1664: Chapter 1664: An Opportunity

Running away is not an option, so Yu Qingqing had no choice but to stare at Xu Huo, asking him for a guarantee.

“What kind of guarantee?” Xu Huo let go of her.

Yu Qingqing adjusted her collar, “The information is mine, and my team will be putting in the effort. We deserve the lion’s share, don’t we?”

Xu Huo raised his hand to interrupt her, “Don’t rush to talk about dividing the spoils. First, explain what’s going on. If I’m interested, we can discuss moving forward together.”

“We’ve discovered an instance about to form.” Yu Qingqing lowered her voice, speaking with a mysterious air.

“How can you be sure it’s an unformed instance?” Xu Huo raised an eyebrow.

“It’s a separate space. Duo Yun accidentally stumbled upon it and found special restrictive powers inside.” Yu Qingqing said, “Generally speaking, it’s either an abandoned wandering space or a venue for an instance about to form.”

“But didn’t you visit the island floating on the sea before? Wandering spaces are generally very unstable and could disappear at any moment, but this space is different. The entrance has been stable for over three days with no changes at all.”

“Did you investigate inside?” Xu Huo asked again. Whether it’s a wandering space or a venue about to become an instance, both signify instability. The island that appeared last time in Zone 014 was very unstable too, yet the Special Defense Department led the charge and uncovered some patterns, preventing players from blindly groping in the dark.

Furthermore, entering such spaces carries extremely high risks. If it moves somewhere unreachable by the game tickets, there’s a real possibility of being trapped inside indefinitely. Worse yet, it may contain space-time powers, not the static state of sea islands, but dynamic powers that can affect living beings.

“We put a surveillance device inside and took a look; there’s no problem.” Yu Qingqing wore a “trust me” expression.

“Let me see the footage.” Xu Huo extended his hand.

Yu Qingqing hesitated for a while before reluctantly taking out a miniature camera.

Xu Huo opened it, seeing that the entire video wasn’t very clear. The filming location was shrouded in a gray fog, making it difficult to discern even nearby objects. The only certainty was that it was a human city.

However, the video was only a minute and a half long before the screen suddenly went black, like something attacked it.

“How many surveillance devices do you still have?” Xu Huo asked.

Yu Qingqing reluctantly held out two hands.

“It seems this is the longest footage.” Xu Huo noted, “Each time the surveillance device gets knocked out a short distance from the entrance, and yet you still won’t give up after more than ten attempts?”

“Why give up?” Yu Qingqing answered matter-of-factly, “A place discovered with such difficulty, how many times can one encounter it in a lifetime? Maybe we can capture an instance!”

Xu Huo coldly looked at her, “You don’t even know what attacked the surveillance devices and you still want to capture this instance?”

Yu Qingqing’s team must have placed batches of surveillance devices. Since there’s no footage, it means either all devices were destroyed simultaneously or couldn’t capture anything.

“Give me all the footage.”

Yu Qingqing then reluctantly took out five surveillance devices and promised, “This is everything.”

After repeated destruction, they decided to place a device at intervals, hoping the following device could capture what was going on with the previous one in the fog.

However, they underestimated the attack range of that power. Starting with overlapping two devices, they ended up overlapping five, barely staying at the entrance line to save the footage of the front devices being destroyed.

“Cousin, have you figured anything out?” Yu Qingqing watched Xu Huo’s expression and, seeing no result, directly asked, “We’ve examined this video frame by frame and found nothing remarkable. The surveillance device seems to explode instantly, with no detection of anything else.”

Xu Huo watched the video several times before concluding, “I can’t tell what it is either.”

Yu Qingqing was deeply disappointed, then she urged, “Why don’t we go together and take a look?”

“You didn’t go in directly, which shows some smarts.” Xu Huo said, “You all should stay out of this matter.”

Seeing him take all the footage, Yu Qingqing looked at him incredulously, “You’re not going to ditch us and eat alone, are you!”

“Why would I?” Xu Huo gave her a slight smile, “I’ll involve the Special Defense Department.”

Yu Qingqing’s face fell, but she knew she was at a disadvantage, as she definitely couldn’t stop Xu Huo, who would definitely follow through on what he said.

“If you don’t want me meddling, then the Special Defense Department must offer a good price for my information.”

She quickly adjusted her strategy to strive for benefits for herself and her team.

“No problem, I can get you a good deal from the Special Defense Department.” Xu Huo said after a moment, “Bring your other four friends for me to meet them face to face.”

The other three were puzzled, but Yu Qingqing understood the implication, gritting her teeth as she instructed Duo Yun beside her to call the other four companions back.

When Xu Huo went out to make a call, Player codenamed Chen Yu quietly asked Yu Qingqing, “What does Xu Huo mean?”

“Haven’t you figured it out? That space is indeed an opportunity, only it’s not suitable for us to enter.” Yu Qingqing reluctantly said, “We’re too weak.”

Chen Yu paused, “Xu Huo is a Rank-C Player too.”

Yu Qingqing rolled her eyes, “Even if he’s a Rank-C Player, he can easily overpower us, not to mention he’s a Super Evolver.”

“You’ll see, the people from the Special Defense Department are either Super Evolvers or top-tier Talented Players.”

“So maybe your cousin has already figured out what’s in that space, he just hasn’t said so.” Heavy Rain commented, “Why does he want Daxue and the others to come?”

“He’s probably worried we’ll mess things up,” Yu Qingqing, who had some understanding of Xu Huo, felt stifled precisely because of her understanding. “He’s not interested in us and wants to see if he can involve Daxue and the others.”

The three were puzzled, not understanding what she meant by “not interested.” But before they could ask, Xu Huo returned as if, just like Yu Qingqing said, worried they might cause trouble prematurely. Instead of leaving, he found pots and bowls in the room.

“People from headquarters will take some time, let’s have a late night snack.”

Yu Qingqing fumed, “It was us who discovered it; it should be our opportunity!”

Xu Huo paid no heed to her resentment, “If you’re not satisfied, you can go in and see if your heads explode like the surveillance device.”
