Chapter 1674: Chapter 1674: Time Force
Xu Huo chose a relatively open area, though it’s only slightly more spacious than other places, with Spatial Bodies still present within a two-hundred-meter range, making it impossible to completely evade them.
At least there was some distance, so he took out the “Cubic Space.” In a situation where the instrument’s state couldn’t be fully controlled, as soon as the “Cubic Space” was removed from the luggage compartment, rays of different densities rapidly spread out, covering approximately three to four hundred meters and just enveloping three nearby larger Spatial Bodies.
The interior of the “Cubic Space” is not uniform; the density and activity state of the rays vary greatly. Being inside is like being surrounded by vortices of different sizes, flow rates, and directions. People can walk freely in the center and choose to interfere or not interfere with the flow of the vortices, but these “vortices” are visible and somewhat controllable.
Naturally, the device “Cubic Space” has never been fully understood since Xu Huo got it, especially some of its chaotic rays. Initially, he suspected that players who disappeared in Xiaohe City were swallowed by gaps formed from collisions and friction among these different Spatial Rays. Even though this never happened during his use afterward, he still believed it was possible.
After all, this device came from a Rank-A Wormhole Point and can assimilate rays from different Spatial Artifacts, quickly accommodating and adapting to rays of different densities. It is very special in itself, so having some flaws isn’t surprising.
As the instrument’s power was released, rays quickly began to condense around Spatial Bodies entirely or instances within the range of the instrument’s power—correct, they were condensing, not appearing like the relatively loose ray area felt when touching other Spatial Artifacts, but a concentrated mass that rapidly dropped in temperature like forming ice crystals, suddenly and uncontrollably stabbing in all directions!
These assimilated rays are close to the density of the Spatial Bodies’ rays but lack the destructive power of Spatial Bodies. Within the range of “Cubic Space’s” power, they resemble suddenly grown rigid, immovable stones, and much like Spatial Bodies, their rays are very difficult to dislodge.
Moreover, the ray density around different Spatial Bodies is roughly similar.
From the outside, the inner rays of the Spatial Bodies are basically impossible to displace, meaning those Spatial Bodies differ little for ordinary people or Xu Huo, as they are essentially a whole.
“Cubic Space” can structure rays of the same density, but it doesn’t mean they can be truly controlled.
Xu Huo tried for nearly half an hour but couldn’t successfully control these Spatial Rays. The feeling was like gripping extremely thick, unbendable wires. Naturally, any Spatial Rays inside this chaotic space are harder to control than those outside.
After a long time without results, he had to stop for a rest. Although he knew Spatial Rays themselves could be changed, in his eyes, whether they could be pulled or not didn’t matter; they all seemed the same. No matter how carefully he pondered, the rays remained unchanged. Not to mention turning a single ray into a sharp tool; it wasn’t even possible to assimilate and connect with surrounding objects.
“It seems breaking through barriers isn’t as easy as imagined.”
Xu Huo put away the “Cubic Space” and instead took out the “Angel’s Eye.”
Unlike Spatial Power, once taken out, the “Angel’s Eye” released its power, instantly connecting with the Time Force within the chaotic space, allowing him to perceive immensely clearer the time rays he could previously only vaguely sense.
As he realized the night before, time rays have fluctuations. Yet they’re not the kind disorderly floating in the air as imagined, but long rays descending from the heavens, seemingly endless. Their upper and lower ends may pierce different objects, but the feeling of transcending space is strong, as if they have already broken through space.
An independent division is stable in its interior space and time and general space-time items can cause small-scale temporal and spatial disorder but can’t affect the entire space, thus both space and time exist within a relatively defined range.
The Spatial Power Xu Huo felt was indeed like this; even when he saw the Spatial Rays Lawrence Lee controlled, could clearly sense this power is restrained under the spatial domain; different spaces are mutually independent with a solid, unbreakable barrier between them.
If truly breaking through this barrier, it would mean spatial channels caused by cross-space artifacts or instruments, or space fragmentation triggered by dimensional storms—none of which fall within the Super Evolver’s evolution range.
However, now, he felt the time rays have broken through this barrier.
The time rays imagined as chaotic and unordered seemed uniformly distributed as straight lines in the air, spanning the entire space from top to bottom. Unlike the Spatial Rays, the time rays aren’t as closely packed and don’t attach to specific objects, rather they resemble sparse rain, casually hitting any place within this space.
Of course, time rays have fluctuations; they are not smooth lines anymore but shallow S-shapes with lefts and rights.
The closest time ray to Xu Huo was less than half a meter away, at this distance, he could clearly feel the curvature of the ray itself, unlike those farther rays which were indistinguishable from a straight line.
Spatial Rays to Xu Huo were limited to moveable lines, and he had no other understanding of what state they would be when magnified. But facing time rays was more nuanced because the time rays in front of him were indeed magnified.
The variations in frequency and size of time rays for the time being had no significance; Xu Huo was more curious if time was indeed ungraspable.
Time is ungraspable—this was his previous conclusion when comprehending Time Force; yet now with magnified time rays before him, he couldn’t help but feel excited, wanting to test if it was true!
Xu Huo reached out his hand but stopped just before touching the time ray, gently sweeping his hand downward instead.
At this moment, the three time rays before and on his sides began to vibrate, and the surrounding space seemed to suddenly accelerate in time. The rapid changes in light intensity marked the swift passage of time—forward or backward unknown—when it ceased, the street was once again bathed in sunlight, and the blue-eyed man, who had departed, appeared on the street again, this time walking from afar, dirt on his shoes yet wiped clean.
In an instant, Xu Huo realized another truth: time can only move backward, not forward.
