Capítulo 1667: Chapter 1667: Estimated Distance of 500 Meters
Yu Qingqing played a trick; she changed her mind halfway through and decided to let the four people who were supposed to meet her go to the space entrance first. One reason was to test the space again to see if there would be any changes; another was to see if they could get in.
If accidents happen, of course, there’s nothing to say, but if they don’t, and people enter, Xu Huo won’t be able to drive them out.
So when they arrived, there were only three people standing at the space entrance.
Xu Huo raised an eyebrow slightly, “Did the codename Storm enter?”
Daxue nodded, “Storm is the most gifted among us; he had already touched the threshold of Super Evolution before.”
This statement must have some exaggeration, but as long as he successfully gets in, there’s no problem.
“What threshold? In what aspect?” Nie Xuan quickly asked.
“Physical ability…” Daxue purposely said it vaguely.
Nie Xuan glanced at Xu Huo; the two stood outside this so-called “entrance,” gradually becoming solemn in expression.
This location was in a Primeval Forest near Nan City; the “entrance” was actually a gray seam opened in the center of a tree with a diameter of more than three meters.
From the seam, one could see a bit of the inside of the space; compared to the whole space, this “entrance” could not be considered a gateway, just a small crack.
Of course, relative to the space, it’s still quite spacious for people, and two can walk side by side in without issue.
Just standing outside, Xu Huo and Nie Xuan could already feel the Spatial Power releasing from within; this indeed was a Chaotic Space and very unstable. The last time Xu Huo saw so many chaotic Spatial Rays was in the “Cubic Space.”
However, the “Cubic Space” was small in scope, allowing full view, while the chaotic rays revealed from this crack were only a very small part, making it impossible to see the distribution and approximate range of chaotic rays from the outside.
Xu Huo handed the video shot by Yu Qingqing and others to Nie Xuan.
After watching it, Nie Xuan asked, “How do you think the surveillance device was destroyed?”
“It might have been shredded by chaotic Spatial Power,” Xu Huo replied. “Or it might be due to the presence of other forces within.”
With deepening control over Spatial Power, Spatial Rays can be solidified to serve as barriers, temporarily changed in shape to form sharp swords, or, like Xue Lang, directly use the ray itself as a weapon. In this Chaotic Space, Spatial Rays might simultaneously appear in these three states without human control.
However, the difference between these three forms controlled by humans and naturally formed is very vast.
“A bit of bad luck, and it could be a meat grinder inside,” Nie Xuan, of course, understood.
Though Yu Qingqing and others didn’t comprehend Space-Time Power, they witnessed the surveillance device being destroyed and understood Nie Xuan’s metaphor, especially Daxue and the other three whose faces suddenly changed. They quickly said, “Storm was safe until he disappeared from our sight.”
“That means he’s pretty lucky,” Nie Xuan reassured without much sincerity. “Maybe he’ll keep being lucky.”
Realizing the situation was far from simple, Yu Qingqing and others lost their yearning for opportunities, but they were reluctant to request help from the Special Defense Department. Finally, Yu Qingqing said to Xu Huo, “Cousin, if you can bring Storm out, please try to bring him out; if not, ensure your safety first.”
After speaking, she gritted her teeth again, “Next time, I promise to listen to you and won’t play smart anymore.”
Xu Huo said nothing, joining Nie Xuan and glancing at the device in his hand, “Want to put it in to see?”
“A Spatial Interference Device is tied above,” Nie Xuan said. “We’ll see how far it can go by opening up a path for it.”
Xu Huo nodded, and they stood on either side of the crack, starting to manipulate from less dense areas of rays.
“Beyond five hundred meters, the force I exert on the rays isn’t much,” he added.
The range of rays that can be gently manipulated and rays that can be practically operated are two completely different things; he might be able to sway rays to touch a leaf a thousand meters away but merely that, not snap or break it. The range for constructing small objects is even smaller.
Additionally, this space has chaotic rays, which might incur discounts on the original basis.
“Almost the same here,” Nie Xuan said. “Whatever distance it reaches, if the device can go up to five hundred meters, we can take a risk and try.”
He hadn’t finished speaking, but if the interference device, coupled with their collective efforts, couldn’t extend beyond a mere five hundred meters, it meant the situation inside for people would be even worse.
They represented the peak of space towards Super Evolution in Zone 014 — if neither could enter, then this place was untouchable for a while.
A drone-style surveillance device emitted a low hum, slowly passing through the crack but, soon after, seemingly hit something, jolting in the air. With Xu Huo and Nie Xuan exerting efforts to pull away the approaching rays, it trembled a bit and continued forward.
Limited by fog, farther ahead was unclear. Under mixed Spatial Rays, the two could not fully accurately judge what the rays symbolize — perhaps there is something there, or it’s just a spatial barrier formed from clutter. They could only judge based on experience.
After the drone flew out two hundred meters, Xu Huo and Nie Xuan could no longer control its position. Fortunately, the modified device still transmitted signals, although intermittently, giving some visibility inside.
“Why isn’t Storm visible?” Daxue wondered, “He headed in this direction too; it shouldn’t be this slow.”
Nobody answered this question.
The atmosphere gradually became tense, especially as the distance increased; the drone’s lens started to wobble, uncertain if the next second it’d crash, causing everyone present to breathe quietly.
Around four hundred meters in, Xu Huo and Nie Xuan withdrew their hands successively.
Because at this point, they couldn’t move the spatial rays anymore; however, having exchanged glances, they felt somewhat relieved.
Though not reaching their predicted distance, these Spatial Rays were still manipulatable — having room for movement indicated they could traverse.
The drone advanced another few dozen meters, then the video footage turned completely dark.
“Four hundred fifty-nine meters,” Nie Xuan’s teammate Weng Qing looked up and said, then couldn’t resist asking, “This distance is shorter than expected; would entering be problematic?”
“Every meter counts; entering might be problematic,” Nie Xuan flexed his fingers before assigning tasks. “Sha Chuan, Wei Xiaoyi, Tian Zhengjiang, follow me in.”
Weng Qing promptly said, “It’s so dangerous inside; how can only three go in…”
Nie Xuan interrupted, “The number of people doesn’t matter; we are just the vanguard. Once the Special Defense Department’s equipment arrives, you try contacting us again.”
He said this while handing Xu Huo a specially made Communicator.
