Chapter 1616: Chapter 1616: The First Kill

It’s not easy to trap a Rank-B player, especially when they might be carrying Rank-A props. Destroying the spatial barrier is simple, but Yi Jun and his partner never intended to evade, so when the barrier appeared, they took out their props, ready to face the enemy head-on.

Probably to probe Xu Huo’s depths, they didn’t use defense props to distance themselves but planned to rely on their speed to take him down.

Xu Huo first chose the other Rank-B player with a white cloth covering his face. Once the two faced each other, the opponent removed the cloth from his face, and the prop initially acting as protective clothing automatically flew out. It was like unwrapping the linen from a mummy, tangled and abundant, crisscrossing, obstructing Xu Huo’s vision and continuously wrapping around him.

Facing such a situation with a regular attack prop is troublesome. If you can’t instantly destroy most of the prop cloth, the player might get entangled when they act.

But this wasn’t an issue for Xu Huo, as the “Blossom” barrier and the trap prop “Fluttering Snowflakes” were activated simultaneously. With another wave of the hand, “Everything Can Be Cut” weaved through the space, freely cutting without needing to control the secant line, and those cloth strips collided into it themselves.

There wasn’t much sound when the secant line cut the cloth, but within the space blocked by the barrier, a sudden whirlwind arose. The repeatedly shredded cloth spun and occupied nearly twenty meters around Xu Huo. The white fragments filled every corner except those separated by the “Blossom” barrier, completely allowing the Rank-B player to vanish.

This is a great way to confuse vision because, with a Rank-B player’s speed, he can quickly change positions around Xu Huo. Even with defense props, what does it matter? With a Rank-A prop in hand, he could instantly kill any Rank-C player.

But the opponent’s goal wasn’t to take Xu Huo’s life; thus, they focused the attack on his limbs, especially his right hand.

The Rank-B player appeared at Xu Huo’s right rear simultaneously as Xu Huo turned his head. While high speed can certainly confuse vision, he didn’t need to look to ascertain the opponent’s position. In such a chaotic space, a person’s mass is quite conspicuous, so when the Rank-B player moved behind him, Xu Huo summoned a spatial blade in mid-air.

After reaching Rank-B, players’ sharpness and perception greatly improve. Although spatial rays are invisible, when they accumulate to a certain density and alter the airflow, the player sensed something wrong ahead. He didn’t close the distance too much, and pointing his short sword at Xu Huo, a speck of dazzling starlight pierced directly through the “Blossom” defensive barrier aiming at Xu Huo’s shoulder.

“Unassailable Territory” smoothly blocked the attack. Seeing Xu Huo’s unchanged expression, the Rank-B player’s face subtly shifted. Just as he was about to blend into the flying cloth fragments, he suddenly felt an attack from behind and immediately used a prop to increase distance, unexpectedly having the opponent follow closely.

Astonished by Xu Huo’s speed, the Rank-B player dodged the sweeping black blade twice and blocked one strike with his short sword while his other hand clenched the air, causing more than ten bull-hair-fine metal needles to appear out of nowhere, piercing the position before him.

Yet, they didn’t hit the target—Xu Huo, who should have been standing before him, suddenly vanished.

Realizing this wasn’t an ordinary Rank-C player, the masked player dared not to risk mutual harm, alternating between defense props and attack props.

Neither party showed intent to evade. After half a minute of combat using Advanced Items, Xu Huo transferred both of them into the Clock Tower and used the characteristic “Please Sit” as soon as the opposing defense barrier was breached.

The “Please Sit” characteristic can forcibly have a player sit on a chair for three minutes. During these three minutes, if a player attempts to destroy the chair or stand up, they’ll forcibly be locked onto the chair for half a minute—the lock’s efficacy depends on the chair’s sturdiness.

In previous uses of the “Please Sit” characteristic, results were less than ideal, so Xu Huo had replaced the chair with a Rank-B prop bought from the game, combining effectiveness with sturdiness. Therefore, when the Rank-B player sat down and couldn’t stand up, his expression darkened, and while sitting, he threw a ring onto the ground.

The ring expanded into a circle upon hitting the ground, encircling the Rank-B player along with the chair, yet there was no follow-up action.

Space-Time Items are mutually incompatible, so upon seeing his Rank-A long-range teleportation prop fail, the Rank-B player consecutively used three defense props, expanding the defense barrier from five meters to fifty meters.

However, the black blade is an exceptionally handy prop, and breaking through several layers of defense barriers is no challenge when the opponent can’t relocate conveniently.

Despite this, the Rank-B player had a variety of attack props. As Xu Huo breached the first barrier, countless metal needles rained down in the Clock Tower, substantially slowing his speed and somewhat restricting his free movement within the space.

Simultaneously, the Rank-B player was using characteristics opportunistically, but Xu Huo had ample defense props. With these active, characteristics found little room to be effective unless this masked player’s characteristics could ignore the obstruction of defense props and spatial ray barriers.

Yet, the “Revolving Lantern” suffices to fill this gap.

Though the battle dazzled the eyes, it didn’t last long. During that time, a few players broke the spatial barrier, but none approached, except Yi Jun.

He’d been waiting on the sidelines for an opportunity. Now the masked player was bound, Xu Huo subtly held the upper hand, yet couldn’t kill anyone. He seized the moment to act, yet aimed to snag the masked player!

The masked player coldly looked in Yi Jun’s direction after using props to block the sneak attack, but nobody expected Yi Jun to suddenly break through the defense barrier behind him, raising his hand to pierce his throat!

Even as the masked player attempted to block with defense props at the critical moment, he couldn’t escape the throat piercing outcome. However, just as both parties came face to face, a sliver of black light penetrated the masked player’s neck, simultaneously splitting his head open and piercing Yi Jun’s right arm from the middle to the shoulder!

The masked player died on the spot, and Yi Jun, who held onto his half-falling arm, exited the Clock Tower without a word.

The masked player was too confident. If a Rank-B player wishes to flee, issues exist even without a long-distance teleportation prop, so Yi Jun broke through the barriers consecutively as soon as he left the Clock Tower, running without a glance back.

But why would Xu Huo let him escape so easily? He transferred ahead of him via the Mental Portal, bringing out the “Magician” two-on-one, simultaneously executing a stealth attack with “Death of the Holder” and “Backstab.”
