Chapter 131: We Need to Talk
~AMBROSE’S POV~
I wasn’t worried about the complications of a mating pair between a shifter and a vampire. If it wasn’t meant to be, the goddess wouldn’t have gifted us a vampire mate.
Was she even a vampire? She didn’t completely smell like one.
She smelled different than other beings. Unique actually, now that I really think about her scent. It had strawberries, yes, but something more magical about it. More mystical.
And now things were making more sense.
But I needed her to tell me.
I’d give her space to process things for now.
"Care to explain what happened?" Damon asked me walking up. Looking at the damage to my room.
"This is going to be hard to explain to Morrison. His daughter’s injury. He’s not going to be happy." Damon added.
"I don’t give a fuck, he’s lucky I don’t cut off her fucking hands for touching me, let alone making me look real fucking bad to my mate." I grunted leaning to stand up.
"Stop calling her that!" Raven yelled.
"Excuse me?" I glared sharply at her.
"Stop. Calling. Her. Your. Mate." Raven emphasized slowly and deliberately this time.
"Fuck off Raven, I’m not in the mood for your petty jealousy. I have a council I need to prepare to deal with, damage control." Looking at the disaster that is now my room, "And apparently new fucking furniture."
"No, I’m not dropping this. This is serious, Ambrose!" Raven yelled back to me.
"Alpha, Alpha Ambrose to you Raven, you forget your place. You are not my mistress; you address me by my title unless I say otherwise." I commanded her with a deep growl.
"Ambrose, that’s a little harsh." Damon tried to lower the tension.
"No, this disrespect from my own people is at its end. It seems the leniency I have been giving lately is being taken advantage of." I released my alpha aura to remind everyone in the room. Maybe even myself a little, who the fucking alpha is.
Raven shrunk into herself at the sound of my raised voice.
But I didn’t care, everyone was pushing to far, my mercy had its limited. And she didn’t realize she was disregarding her fucking goddess’s daughter. She was going to cause more problems than she thought she was solving at this rate.
"You do better to remember now. Princess Odette is my fated mate. Gifted by the goddess herself to me. She will one day be the Luna Queen. She will bring more glory than you can even begin to imagine to this pack. Be friend her, don’t be an idiot, this is your FINAL warning Raven."
She was holding back tears. Her eyes were swollen and her cheeks puffy as she bit down on her lip. I could tell she wanted to say more, but I wasn’t willing to listen.
"Ursula, please take Lady Isabella to the infirmary, and take Raven with you. No one is to see her, except the healers. And no one is to know about any of this. Keep a lid on it. AM I clear everyone?" I was commanding all the respect the walls had to give.
"Yes, Alpha." Ursula bent her head in submission.
Raven growled but nodded agreeing to her alpha’s command.
"Thank you." I turned to Damon "Let’s move, come up with a damage control plan. No amount of threatening will keep Isabella’s lips sealed."
"Send her to the countryside. There’s an alpha in the European sector that is looking for a Luna. He’s handsome and loyal. We could arrange a marriage between them. He’s powerful and young. This could please Morrison enough with an order he shouldn’t fight too much. His daughter has a weak wolf with no abilities; it’s a better match than he could arrange himself."
"That’s actually a good idea. Send word to Alpha Lucian of the GibbousMoon Pack, I have a Luna for him."
It looks like a reward on the outside, but really, I’m getting her the fuck out of my palace.
"Consider it done, alpha." Damon, the ever perfect beta.
"And Raven, remember where your loyalty lies." I told her before she exited.
"You know Raven has been there for you through thick and thin, you could have let her down nicer." Damon spoke through the channel shooting me a glare.
"Not when my mate almost killed one girl and was looking to eat another. No, it was for her best interest. Being kind isn’t my style in case everyone has forgotten."
"No. But she deserved better and you know it." Damon insisted.
"Maybe she does, but Odette was one wrong move away from snapping Raven’s neck. And I care a lot more about what Odette might do than how Raven might feel. Look, I’ll talk to her later. Okay?"
"Whatever dude. That was some powerful shit from the princess, what the hell was that even? I didn’t know she was so powerful, how come we don’t sense it?" Damon was asking the right questions and making the right points.
"I plan on getting answers." I couldn’t tell him I didn’t know anything, he’d know I was lying. But I didn’t know enough about all this to tell Damon what I knew yet.
I needed to talk to Odette.
"How did all this even start? What did you do Ambrose?" Damon wasn’t using titles, he wasn’t being my beta, he was being my friend.
"Isabella happened. She tried to lie about Odette and the visiting alpha you whipped in my office. And then she made a move when she heard Odette opening the door it all happened in an instant so I it looks really bad. But Isabella was so ridiculous, I had to see how far she’d take the lie." I confessed in the link "I should have just called her out on the lie and ended it, but I was curious."
"You’re curiosity almost killed the dog. Ambrose. You’re an idiot sometimes. I swear." Damon shook his head and walked with me out of the room.
Hector was standing by now looking at me with a raised brow.
"You have a problem, Hector?"
"No, not at all Alpha King. Just, curious as to what new furniture you will be getting and if you are going to consider Princess Odette’s opinion when you do. It might be a good idea." His unsolicited advice was actually a good idea.
"I’ll let your suggestion slide this one time because it’s a good one. But don’t make a habit of offering unsolicited critique."
"Understood Alpha King. My apologies." He lowered his head in submission like a good guard.
I walked past him.
What the fuck was I going to do about my room?
