The most beautiful eighth floor changed over a few minutes. Everything gorgeous became a tragedy related to ghosts. The land, trees, streams and even the wind became the ghosts’ banner.
“Perhaps this is the Soul Temple’s true appearance.” Gao Ming grabbed a handful of leaves. They were ashes left behind after the paper money was burned. They crumbled at the lightest touch. “The divine ghosts from Dream Break Town are different from the normal citizens. They are not tricked by the Soul Temple. They are not here to become immortal but to take over the nine-story soul temple.” Gao Ming patted the deer and consoled it. “Don’t be scared. No matter what you really are, I’ll protect you.” After saying that, Gao Ming hid under the deer. He didn’t want to expose himself too soon.
Gao Ming looked around but didn’t spot anyone from Dream Break Town. “All of them are exceedingly cunning. I cannot put my guard down.”
The deer mimicked Gao Ming. Like a crab, it covered the soil and ashes all over its body to obfuscate its beautiful pattern. The immortal deer looked more like a black donkey. Gao Ming had a feeling of familiarity with this clever deer. It reminded him of an old friend.
Without the interference of the divine glow, Gao Ming recovered swiftly. His physical body was stitched up at a speed visible to the naked eye. The wounds were connected to form a complete blood tattoo. There was not even a scar left.
“I wonder if I can bring this healing power back to the real world.”
The tester’s black band would always monitor their conditions in the nightmare. When their data fluctuated, it would light up in red. The greater the concern, the brighter the light. As Gao Ming recovered, the warning light on his band emitted a piercing red glow. It flickered multiple times before extinguishing. Gao Ming’s data was far beyond a normal tester’s limit. It even broke through the upper limit set by the researchers.
“The blood city tattoo is now flawless and radiates with life. The God of Flesh and Blood I’ve summoned through Dream Release is no different from a real divine ghost. Other than that, I see no difference between my current self and my past self.” The black band broke. Immortal Pharma would have many questions about that. After all, Dream Break Town was too important to Immortal Pharma. They would examine the smallest loophole. This time, Gao Ming almost shattered the sky.
“Immortal Pharma will not let me go. My actual body is still in their lab. If I want to stay safe, I need more leverage.” Gao Ming calculated in his mind, “Immortal Pharma created this place to cultivate an Unmentionable. Therefore, the best thing I can do is to become an Unmentionable.” Gao Ming shook his head. Humans were like ants before an Unmentionable. “It looks like I have to place the faith in the divine ghost in my heart.”
Zhang Mingli was hard to control. Gao Ming was willing to help him. However, when it came to becoming an Unmentionable, Gao Ming didn’t expect the man to surrender the chance to the God of Flesh and Blood.While Gao Ming stayed in wait, the divine ghosts became impatient.
The murky stream bulged like veins on human skin. The water weeds were torn apart. The giant trees near the river wilted. Worms crawled out of the trunks and fell into the water. The leaves turned into paper. A heavy groan travelled into Gao Ming’s ears. He parted the deer fur to look. The murky river water flowed into the deep pool underneath the waterfall. The waterfall came directly from the divine palace. It was the only spot that was untouched by the corruption. It was also the only spot connected to the divine palace. A dragon’s howl came from the water. Gao Ming widened his eyes. He saw a giant black snake hidden under the water!
“Water Dragon King?!” Gao Ming’s eyes darkened. “Wasn’t it climbing on the outer wall?”
The scales splashed with the water. The rotten corpses and poisonous worms crawled into the snake. The meandering shadow collected energy in the water. It wiggled its tail and generated an enormous splash. The heavily-corrupted snake’s head burst out of the water’s surface as it swam against the current up the waterfall!
“Dragon leaping over the gate?!” None of the divine ghosts predicted this. Everything happened too suddenly for them to stop the snake. The tail waved. The snake charged at the heavenly gate. It was like a sharp spear piercing the barrier between the two worlds.
“I see it!” Elder Tang’s voice came from inside the black snake. It was crazed with a thick sense of greed!
Among the stars, every building of the divine palace appeared to be built with moonlight. They were both fake and real. A lot of magical beasts, like coiling dragons and qilins danced between them.
The black snake continued to surge. It was only a few metres from the end of the waterfall.
“Swim! Keep on swimming!”
The rotten skin was blasted off. The giant body started to lose control. Dead bodies fell out of the snake. The scales disappeared. Everyone finally noticed that the snake’s head had no eyes but only two black holes.
“Elder Tang has stolen the Water Dragon King’s shed skin?!” Gao Ming grasped it instantly. He knew that Elder Tang had once sneaked into the river outside the town. It was where he stole Chun Niang. He probably snatched the shed skin at the same time.
“Don’t stop! The divine palace is right there! Everything is mine!”
No matter how loud Elder Tang screamed, the snake skin couldn’t handle it anymore. The corpses were washed away by the waterfall. Their faces lingered with malice. No one was willing to help Elder Tang. The corpses were bound by black threads. Elder Tang had been using the black threads to control his guests. This time, the black threads became Elder Tang’s shackles and held him back.
“You… bunch of bastards!”
The giant snake cracked and shattered. Only one last head was still struggling. It tried its best, but it was still sliding down.
“Is Elder Tang’s real body hidden in the snake’s head? This is a rare opportunity.” Gao Ming touched his chin. He was about to make a move when someone else did something first.
A butcher’s knife stained with meat flew out of the forest and stabbed the snake’s head!
There was a scream. Elder Tang dangled in the air. He couldn’t avoid the attack. He was punctured together with the snake’s head.
The broken giant snake was carried away by the waterfall. Bound corpses and pieces of snakeskin floated on the deep pool. However, the snake’s head sank underwater and never reappeared.
