Chapter 1862: Chapter 1259: Arrival at Stormwind (Ben Meow Rolls Off the Bed)
A mere group of Cultists is naturally not a match for Duanmu Huai, but the Ancient God they worship does pique Duanmu Huai’s interest. After helping the Dwarves reclaim Danmode, Duanmu Huai found Sargas and inquired about the Ancient Gods.
According to Sargas, in the distant past, Azeroth was ruled by Ancient Gods, during what was known as the Dark Empire era. Later, the Dark Empire era ended, and the Ancient Gods ruling Azeroth were sealed away. Currently, there are three sealed Ancient Gods: N’Zoth, C’Thun, and Yogg-Saron.
As for the whereabouts of these three Ancient Gods, Sargas isn’t quite sure. He only knows that C’Thun is sealed in Ahn’Qiraj. The believers of this Twilight Hammer hope that one day their worshipped Ancient God can break free from the seal and return to this world. Why these lunatics wish to do so, however… is unknown.
Even though the information is scarce, it’s enough for Duanmu Huai. His own Ancient Dominator requires an upgrade, and devouring other Ancients is the simplest method of upgrading. Since there are still three Ancient Dominators in this world, and they’re weaklings sealed away, Duanmu Huai can’t be blamed for not holding back…
Having met the Dwarves here, Duanmu Huai was too lazy to make another trip to Ironforge. Sargas assured Duanmu Huai with a pat on his chest that he would inform the Dwarves about the situation in Dun Garok. So Duanmu Huai tossed the task to Sargas and set off with others from Menethil Harbor to Stormwind.
He didn’t want to stay in this dirty ugly swamp for another minute.
“Whew…”
Standing on the deck, looking at the distant sea, the girls sighed with relief. Compared to the mosquito-infested swamp, the sea was much more relaxing.
“It seems the sea in other worlds isn’t much different from ours.”
Homura Akemi stood curiously at the prow of the ship, gazing around, feeling a strange sentiment as they sped forward on the waves.
“I’ve never been on a ship before.”
Naruse Mio was equally excited. After all, even though she’s lived in Japan, it doesn’t necessarily mean she’s had the chance to be on a ship. Now, she was leaning against the railing, curiously watching the surrounding scenery.
But compared to them, the other two were in sorry states.
“Ugh… when will we reach our destination…”
“Lord Mio, I’m almost done for…”
Strangely enough, both Banriya and Mugeng, being Demons, could fly, yet they were seasick. Ever since they boarded the ship, they’ve been helplessly dizzy, coupled with the fact that ships of this era aren’t as comfortable as modern ones, so these unlucky fellows were in a half-dead state ever since.
“Hahaha, ladies, please be patient.”
Seeing the two in such a pitiful state, the ship’s captain chuckled as he comforted them. On one hand, they were all beautiful girls, and as a man, he naturally would care for them; on the other hand—well, Duanmu Huai’s payment was exceedingly generous.
“If everything goes smoothly, we’ll reach Stormwind by noon today, and then you two can rest well.”
“Weren’t you saying we’d reach early morning, Captain?”
“Uh…”
Faced with Banriya’s complaint, the captain’s expression stiffened briefly.
“Mainly because we’re carrying more goods this time, so the speed is a bit slower…”
“I knew it!”
Banriya complained weakly.
“It’s all because Lord Duanmu is too heavy that… ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch!!”
“What did you say?”
Yet before Banriya could finish speaking, Duanmu Huai’s big hand reached from behind, grabbing Banriya’s little head and lifting her up.
“Who did you call heavy?”
“I didn’t say anything, didn’t say anything! Sorry, I was wrong, Lord Duanmu, please let go of me, my head, my head is going to split, ahhhh!!”
“Hmph.”
Duanmu Huai grunted coldly, tossing Banriya to the ground, and she sat there holding her head, looking aggrieved.
Duanmu Huai ignored her, but instead went over to the captain, took out a map, and began discussing with him. The latter, having traveled far and wide, had some understanding of Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms, and Duanmu Huai learned some matters regarding the Alliance and Horde from the captain.
According to the captain, the Alliance and Horde have been in a stop-and-start conflict for many years, occasionally setting aside past grievances to unite against external threats when needed. Like with the Scourge army previously. But once the threat is gone, the Alliance and Horde start fighting again.
Of course, on the surface, both sides maintain a fragile peace, but privately, there’s no shortage of skirmishes. Generally, each conflict between the Alliance and Horde starts with both keeping to themselves, stealthily maneuvering. Just like The Forsaken did in Southshore Town, nibbling at a corner here, blocking a road there, and slicing salami.
Then it snowballs until it’s too big to conceal, and they go straight into a full-scale war. Once both sides are exhausted, they tacitly cease fire, retreating to lick their wounds, and then resume fighting when they recover.
Due to the balanced strength on both sides, it usually ends in a stalemate. Now with The Forsaken eradicated, it naturally brings great upheaval and impact to the Alliance and Horde. As for what impact—well, the captain couldn’t say for sure. He’s just a mercantile sailor and doesn’t concern himself with political and military affairs. To him, those land-based issues are trivial, whereas the Troll fleet from Zandalar is truly bothersome.
