But neither of them moved.

Rushing out now could cause a stampede; it’s better to gamble on it maybe being just a minor tremor.

Yun Xuefei evidently thought the same, her face slightly pale, but her expression still calm.

“It’s okay,” she said to Zhixi.

Zhixi nodded seriously, holding Xiaobao tightly in her arms.

The two children didn’t know what was happening, their faces showed fear, but neither of them cried.

After waiting for several minutes, no tremors came.

Zhixi and Yun Xuefei then breathed a sigh of relief.

“It should be fine,” Yun Xuefei smiled, “But just in case, let’s head back first.”

Zhixi nodded and took out her phone to call He Jingyao, but before she could dial, she saw He Jingyao’s figure appear at the restaurant entrance.

Huo Yanzhao was beside him.

Both men wore solemn expressions and walked quickly; they only relaxed when they saw Zhixi and Xuefei safe in the corner.

“Jingyao…” Zhixi was somewhat surprised he came so quickly.

As she spoke, the man walked up to her, checked on Xiaobao, and then looked at her; his previously gloomy face lightened up slightly.

He pulled Zhixi into his embrace, his voice low and slightly hoarse, “I’m just glad you’re okay!”

Zhixi felt the man’s slightly tense muscles and his fiercely beating heart, feeling somewhat stunned.

“I’m okay… just two minor tremors, what could happen,” Zhixi said softly, soothingly patting his back.

He Jingyao chuckled and then let her go, “I’ll take you and Xiaobao back first.”

Zhixi nodded, took Xiaobao’s hand, and turned to see Huo Yanzhao holding Tang Yuan in his arms, looking at Yun Xuefei with a face of relief.

Zhixi and Yun Xuefei exchanged a glance, both with the same doubt in their eyes.

It wasn’t until returning to the apartment that Zhixi learned the reason.

After dropping her off at the café, He Jingyao didn’t go far, but arranged to meet with Huo Yanzhao at a nearby restaurant. After feeling the tremors, they immediately headed to the café, hearing along the way that a stampede occurred across the street. A young mother with a child was pushed into the middle of the road and hit by a car, thrown several meters, dying on the spot.

The two men instantly thought of their own women and children, terribly shocked.

After hearing this, Zhixi couldn’t help but hug him, softly saying, “Don’t be afraid; I wouldn’t be so reckless.”

He Jingyao rubbed her hair with a low laugh, “I’m fine, knowing you have bodyguards by your side who will certainly protect you and Xiaobao. Yanzhao was really scared out of his wits.”

Zhixi laughed again. Fortunately, they were all okay.

“Take Xiaobao to rest; I’m going out for a bit,” He Jingyao instructed.

Zhixi nodded.

Half an hour later, He Jingyao returned to the place where the “earthquake” had just occurred.

In fact, it wasn’t an earthquake, but an explosion at a nearby factory that caused the tremors.

He Jingyao arrived at the explosion site, which had already been cordoned off by the police.

Feng Qian was still trying to investigate something, and upon seeing He Jingyao, he immediately approached him.

“Sir,” Feng Qian, having gone in to inspect immediately after the explosion, might be more informed than the police. He handed over a piece of explosive debris, his expression somewhat grave.

He Jingyao took it and saw a half-printed emblem on the fragment, letting out a cold laugh.
