Chapter 637: Chapter 349: Plotting Something Wrong
Chen Feng saw her say this, so he didn’t insist on paying. After all, Lin Yujiao’s clothing store business is doing well now, and she’s earning quite a bit. She can afford the rent for a high-end apartment.
"Let’s look for a house together tomorrow morning, and maybe let Mengting help again. We need her to find a more reliable place this time. Somewhere like this definitely won’t work."
"No need to bother her. We should look ourselves."
Lin Yujiao hurriedly refused, feeling somewhat nervous and guilty when facing Wu Mengting, the "main one."
"We can’t not bother her. I was originally going back to Lin Nan with her tomorrow morning, and when she contacts me, I have to tell her the truth. She’s at least familiar with this area, and asking her to help look won’t be much trouble. Should I send her a message now to ask for her help?"
Lin Yujiao realized it made sense and nodded, saying, "Then I’ll talk to her myself, I have her WeChat."
Chen Feng hurriedly stopped her, "Let me talk. Once we find a place, you can contact her to thank her."
Chen Feng was worried Wu Mengting would misunderstand Lin Yujiao, and given Lin Yujiao didn’t normally contact Wu Mengting, suddenly reaching out would seem abrupt. It was more natural for him to speak.
In truth, Lin Yujiao didn’t really want to contact Wu Mengting, so she didn’t insist after hearing Chen Feng.
Chen Feng was about to message Wu Mengting on his phone when the doorbell suddenly rang again.
Chen Feng and Lin Yujiao both looked towards the door, then exchanged a glance.
"I’ll go check."
Chen Feng said, standing up, and took the glass fruit plate from the coffee table. It had only two or three apples left, which he poured out. It felt quite heavy, easily three or four pounds.
Picking up the fruit plate, Chen Feng quickly walked towards the door.
Lin Yujiao finally reacted, hurriedly shouting from behind, "Be careful."
Chen Feng didn’t respond, rushing to the door, not even bothering to put on shoes, and opened it directly.
There was no one outside, but the hallway light was still on, so Chen Feng dashed out, just in time to see someone standing on the staircase landing.
It was a man in his thirties, neither fat nor thin, about 1.8 meters tall, not particularly handsome but with a sullen look in his eyes that made him unpleasant to look at.
The two exchanged looks.
Chen Feng wasn’t intimidated by him, and directly, with a hostile expression, questioned him, "Was it you ringing the doorbell?"
The man, upon seeing Chen Feng come out of Lin Yujiao’s room, had a more hostile glare and retorted, "Who are you? How did you come out of her room?"
The man spoke with aggressive momentum as he descended the stairs.
"Are you trying to do something to my girlfriend, ringing the doorbell at night?" Chen Feng cursed, "You look like a potential criminal. Believe it or not, I can call the cops now and have you arrested."
"Is she really your girlfriend?" The man showed a doubtful expression.
At this time, Lin Yujiao hurried out of the room, quickly grabbing Chen Feng to stop him from fighting.
"Mr. Li, I’ve told you I have a boyfriend. Now you believe me, right? Please stop harassing me, or I’ll really call the police."
Lin Yujiao said righteously to the man.
The man surnamed Li stared at Lin Yujiao angrily for a while and then, with a fierce look at Chen Feng, turned around silently to go upstairs.
Chen Feng felt very uncomfortable with his previous glare, coupled with this guy ringing the doorbell twice with clear intentions towards Lin Yujiao. How could he let him go easily?
Chen Feng suddenly lunged forward with a kick to the man’s lower back.
The man didn’t expect Chen Feng to attack so suddenly and without warning. Unprepared, he was kicked sharply forward, his head hitting the wall.
As he turned in pain, Chen Feng smashed the glass fruit plate in his hand into the man’s face. It didn’t break, but it caused him to let out a bloodcurdling scream, and blood spurted from his mouth.
Chen Feng, holding the sturdy glass fruit plate, was about to strike again when Lin Yujiao rushed over and grabbed him.
"Stop fighting! Stop fighting! Keep this up, and someone will get killed."
Chen Feng didn’t listen and stomped him once more in the stomach with his left foot. The man groaned, clutching his stomach with hands, his face full of pain.
Only then did Chen Feng step back two steps and turn to the visibly anxious and flustered Lin Yujiao, saying, "Call the police."
"Ah?!" Lin Yujiao was confused and didn’t understand Chen Feng’s action. Her main concern was that the man might call the police and get Chen Feng, who attacked, into trouble.
Chen Feng explained, "This guy rang your doorbell secretly at night, obviously no good intentions, possibly trying to lure you out and harm you. Now that this has happened, we can’t just let it go. We need to leave a record with the police."
"Really call the police?" Lin Yujiao asked in Lu City dialect, thinking Chen Feng was just trying to scare the man, to prevent him from daring to call the police.
Chen Feng didn’t bother to explain, directly taking the phone from her hand and was about to dial the police. His phone was just left on the coffee table.
"Ah, watch out."
Lin Yujiao suddenly shouted in alarm.
The man surnamed Li, still lying on the ground, suddenly stood up, holding a dagger, and viciously stabbed towards Chen Feng’s chest.
Instinctively, Chen Feng tightened his left foot with force, quickly kicking towards his crotch. A direct hit.
Ah~
The man surnamed Li screamed in agony, clamping his legs tightly, his body curling like a cooked shrimp, bending over and squatting there, the dagger in his hand clattering to the ground.
Chen Feng immediately stepped on the dagger, kicking it aside, and then delivered another kick, knocking the man down.
Without hesitation, Chen Feng used Lin Yujiao’s phone to dial the police.
"No, don’t call the police! I’m... I’m surrendering." The man surnamed Li said in pain, his face full of anguish, urgently calling out.
Chen Feng ignored him. As soon as the call connected, he began speaking to the dispatcher.
"I surrendered; didn’t you hear?" The man anxiously shouted, "I promise I won’t harass your girlfriend again. If you call the police, it won’t be good for you either, I will accuse you of intentional injury."
Seeing the man was so anxious about him calling the police, Chen Feng ignored him even more, firmly explaining the situation and providing the address to the dispatcher.
"You’ll regret this!" The man stared at Chen Feng with hatred, gnashing his teeth.
"I definitely won’t regret it. In fact, you should be regretting right now, right? Since you don’t want me to call the police, hehe, doesn’t that mean you’re hiding something? Could you be a fugitive?"
At that moment, the sensor light in the corridor suddenly went out. Chen Feng felt the man charging towards him.
Chen Feng instinctively kicked toward the sensor position but missed this time.
When the sensor light turned back on, he saw the man holding onto the railing, bent over, rapidly running downstairs.
