Chapter LXXXVI – Day 5,511 – All Consuming Rage

“Just die already!” I sent another wave of monsters in, while repositioning the summoning monsters to make sure Michael didn’t locate them. My trump card was being held in reserve to distract him, and really put the pressure on him, once he was worn down enough.

I didn’t believe he was losing energy or was as seriously hurt as it appeared. Those were only flesh wounds and he had been grinding. Those points were going to be put into Spirit for more energy. I knew how he thought. He was overconfident. While he would escape, he would only do that if he had no other choice.

He wanted to kill me. That letter to me, while enraging, was proof of his desperation to finally take revenge for everything I had done. If he wanted to gamble with his life, then I was more than happy to do so. The skies around me were clear, his airship destroyed, and he was trying to exhaust me.

We will see whose resources run out first. While Michael was grinding, I had prepared quite a bit for this battle. It had been a hassle to get everything ready in time, but I had managed. My airship flew in a cloud above the battlefield. No need to give him a target to aim at.

I had learned my lesson after losing my feet to Michelle. Having to summon a monster to carry me back to get a restoration was complete and utter humiliation. After I killed Michael I would hunt her down and pay her back for what she had done.

But now I needed to focus. Michael was putting up a tough fight. I needed to up the pressure, but it was too early to pull out my trump cards. Some careful energy manipulation and the cloud descended with my airship, so I didn’t have to work at such a distance. I could do it, but my reactions were slightly slower.

My monsters began to do more damage to him. The wounds he was suffering were slowly accumulating. Just as I was gaining an edge with Michael raging, I noticed something approaching.

Multiple airships, what?! Purgatory didn’t have airships anymore. I quickly had the golem controlling my airship have us move, but the airships flying in my direction were traveling fast, very fast. They were also dragging a lot of flying monsters with them.

I quickly focused on my surroundings, letting my control down below go dormant. Two airships flew into the cloud and exploded. My airship took heavy damage as I shielded myself. There were more explosions all over the airspace of the city. There were multiple airships and they were throwing bombs out everywhere.

As my airship plummeted downwards, I was in a dangerous situation. I leapt off the side as beam attacks swept through my airship, completely destroying it even as it was plummeting.

Flicking out my hand, I released a crystal and a flying monster was summoned. I controlled it to grab onto me to slow my fall. Just as we began to slow it was hit with several beam attacks. The level 6 flying monsters along with the rest of them were swooping down as well.

I turned in mid-air and quickly unleashed a counter beam. The beam attack headed for me dispersed into nothingness. Countering skills was a very dangerous learned skill to use. One mistake and I would be dead. But it allowed me to counter higher level attacks with much weaker attacks.

Michael was heading right for me. I quickly hid my presence and ducked into a building. I was then forced to leap out of back window as several buildings were vaporized as Michael unleashed a massive attack. He had a lot more energy than I expected. I quickly unleashed my trump card.

A thousand people hidden through the city and immobilized turned into hybrids. I quickly tethered them to Michael, so they would attack him, and I wouldn’t have to direct them. More summoned monsters were also called up and unleashed in his direction.

He ducked into a nearby building that was new. It was a Regional Map building that wasn’t there before. Once he left it I altered directions I was heading to escape the city, but Michael was still approaching my general direction. He ducked into another building, another Regional Map building. How many did he purchase?!

The airships were struggling in the sky and Michael was unleashing attacks upwards at the flying monsters as he chased me. I located the next Regional Map building and sent a horde of monsters to lay an ambush in that location.

That was when the City Shield snapped into place. All my summons turned to dust including the hybrids. I stumbled as the massive feed back was a huge shock to my mind and body.

“Found you,” the words struck fear into my heart as I spun. There in black and white was Michael walking towards me down the street.

Separation!”I swiped my hand, aiming my attack. He easily jumped to the air and then used a skill to head right back to the ground, effortlessly dodging one of my trump cards. “If you kill me, you will never save your mother.”

“If you could already kill her, she would be dead the moment she escaped. And I don’t trust you. Regardless, your death is worth more than her life after all the trouble you caused Qi Ji Long.”

I settled in my stance and brought up my hands. I would die on my feet as a martial artist. The Dragon’s Claw was the greatest martial art, created by my mother. I stepped forward, I would not retreat, since that was pointless now. It was over. All I could attempt to do was leave lasting damage on Michael. I was curious though.

“Those airships, whose are they?” I asked and Michael smirked at me.

“The Leader’s. It cost me a favor, but he was willing to commit his entire fleet of airships and the people to manage them. I already knew you would hide in a cloud. I just had to lure you in close,” Michael replied with a vicious grin. New ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄhapters are published on novel★

“I will make sure to visit this Leader to pay my respects after dealing with you,” I said with more confidence than I felt.

“You think you can beat me? Even seriously injure me?” Michael asked as he kept walking towards me. I didn’t say anything. He stopped advancing and looked intently at me. His bloody face was etched into a deep frown.

“I wanted to capture you and torture you, but that is foolish. And while I am many things, I am no fool like you Qi Ji Long,” he said. Instantly there was a massive annihilation explosion.

It took every bit of energy I had, countering the blast and strengthening my body. It lasted only a second but it felt like an eternity. I collapsed to the ground, bleeding out of my nose and mouth, the surface of my flesh burned off.

“That didn’t kill you? You really do have the survival ability of your parents.”

I was the dragon reborn. The one who would have inherited everything. I was the greatest disciple of my mother’s martial arts and her energy techniques!
