Teacher Chu pointed to the spot she had reserved in advance and made the arrangement.

“Alright, students, take out your summer homework. I’ll be around to collect it in a moment. Class president, take the boys to the textbook storage room, and fetch the new books for this term,” Teacher Chu said. After she finished speaking, two boys quickly stood up and left to get the books.
About ten minutes later, a group of kids returned carrying several stacks of new books.
After collecting the summer homework, Teacher Chu had the class president distribute the new books while she stood at the podium, checking the assignments.
Just as everything in the class was proceeding in an orderly fashion, the principal of the school suddenly appeared at the door. He knocked on the classroom door and said to the teacher at the podium, “Teacher Chu, could you step outside for a moment?”
“Yes, I’m coming.”
Upon seeing that the principal was looking for her, Teacher Chu immediately walked out, and in less than a minute, returned to the classroom with Zhong Yuan in tow.
