Capítulo 768: Chapter 766: When the Young Are Strong, the Country Is Strong
Tian Wei also particularly admired Jiang Mianmian; she was especially angry listening to what those people had just said.
Because she didn’t dare to stand up like Jiang Mianmian did, to accuse those people to their face.
“Uncles, you’re giving too much praise. As for people like them, who have knelt for too long and can’t stand up, who have softened their bones and look down on their own country, we shouldn’t spoil them. They need a good lesson,” Jiang Mianmian said crisply.
“Right, the kid is correct. They do need a lesson to let them know that our country has changed beyond recognition, and the people of our country are no longer like before, to be bullied by them at will.” The guests at the other tables resonated with Jiang Mianmian’s words and applauded loudly.
A roomful of people, who didn’t know each other, felt closer because of those few who idolized foreign things and fawned on outsiders.
They had only been chatting for a short while when the waiter brought in the last dish for Jiang Mianmian and her group.
After placing the dish down, the waiter patted her head, “Little girl, well done. You’re a discerning and righteous child; you will surely succeed in the future.”
“Thank you for the praise, brother,” Jiang Mianmian replied with a sweet smile.
Once the dish arrived, Jiang Mianmian and the other children, who were already starving, began to eat with their chopsticks.
“Mianmian, there’s so much meat in this dish, could they have served us the wrong one?” Zhong Yuan said in surprise, looking at the plate full of stir-fried meat.
Jiang Mianmian glanced at the table beside theirs, where the guests had ordered the same dish, which had also just been served.
But, it was clear that their dish had much more meat than the one at the neighboring table.
Jiang Mianmian knew what this meant and explained in a low voice, “It seems the chef has given us a little extra treatment.”
The few people seated understood upon hearing this and began eating, knowing silent acknowledgment.
Although the few who idolized foreign things had been driven out, the topic they provoked didn’t just disappear.
Patrons at a few nearby tables lamented Hua Country’s current state of technology while eating.
“Alas, the technology in our country is indeed behind others; I don’t know how many years it will take for us to catch up to those Western developed nations. Those two who were talking about the solar power station earlier, I wonder when our country will have one.”
“Yeah, now we can only hope that more scientists will emerge from our country’s next generation. It’s only been a few years since universities were reopened; I don’t know how many years it will take to make up for the lost time.”
The topic was somewhat heavy; after a few moments of reflection, the room grew silent without further discussion.
The atmosphere in the room was no longer as light-hearted as before; clearly, everyone was worried about the country.
However, these people were just ordinary individuals out celebrating National Day; as much as they were worried, it was of little help, so they all ate their meals in silence without further discussion.
Upon hearing other people’s reflections, Zhong Yuan and Tian Wei, the two children, were not as negative as them.
With a determined expression, Zhong Yuan said, “I believe in our motherland, and I believe in the scientists of our country. They will surely catch up with other countries soon.”
Tian Wei agreed, “Yes, I believe too! We must study hard and strive to get into university, to contribute to the development of our motherland later.”
Jiang Mianmian gave these two spirited kids a thumbs-up, “A strong youth makes a strong country.”
She also made a silent resolution in her heart; she would make solar panels!
