Chapter 759: Chapter 757: Selling Misery

Every weekend, as soon as school was out, they would head straight home.

Zhiwen, “Mianmian, remember to bring Big Brother Yu back to the village for a few days when he comes over. We all miss him.”

Zhiwu, “Yeah, Mianmian, we can go fishing in the river together. Grandpa and Grandma miss you too. Come back together when the time comes.”

“Got it, big brother, second brother, don’t worry, I will,” Jiang Mianmian promised.

The brothers were pleased with her response and happily bounced off.

The next day at noon, Yu Cheng arrived at the Jiang Family’s home in his jeep.

Jiang Mianmian was delighted to see him and flung herself at him.

“Brother Yu, I haven’t seen you in so long, I’ve missed you so much,” Jiang Mianmian said joyfully, clinging to Yu Cheng’s sturdy arm.

Yu Cheng ruffled Jiang Mianmian’s hair and said with a smile, “I’ve missed you too, that’s why I came to see you.”

“Brother Yu, didn’t you leave at seven? Why did it take so long?” Jiang Mianmian asked, tilting her head, puzzled. Yu Cheng had called her that morning before he left.

“I went to visit my uncle at the farm first before coming here,” Yu Cheng explained.

“Oh, I see, how has uncle been lately? Is his health okay?” Jiang Mianmian asked with concern.

“He’s fine, the weather is warm, and his legs don’t hurt anymore. He looks in good spirits too,” Yu Cheng remarked briefly.

Previously, whenever Yu Cheng visited his uncle and returned, he seemed rather down.

But seeing him in good spirits today, Jiang Mianmian wondered if his uncle was about to be vindicated.

Before she could ask, Yu Cheng took the initiative to say, “Mianmian, I have good news. My uncle is going to be vindicated, and by no later than next year, he’ll be able to return to the Capital City. We can finally have our reunion.”

Over the years, seeing his uncle suffer had deeply pained him.

But since his uncle was stubborn by nature and couldn’t be persuaded, he could only do so much to make his life a bit better.

This was the first time he had voluntarily talked to Jiang Mianmian about his family affairs.

“That’s wonderful, Brother Yu, now you don’t have to worry about your uncle anymore,” Jiang Mianmian was very happy for Yu Cheng.

Yu Cheng smiled and softly hummed in agreement.

As they chatted, they walked towards the house. Not seeing Jiang Changhai and Su Wanyu inside, Yu Cheng asked, “Mianmian, aren’t Uncle Jiang and Aunt Wan at home?”

“There’s a lot going on at the transportation factory because of the National Day, so my dad has to work overtime. He’ll take time off after this busy period. My mom is on duty at the government office and has to go to the city for training. They’re not home, only I’m here.” Jiang Mianmian’s tone grew pitiful as she spoke.

Seeing Jiang Mianmian trying to evoke sympathy, Yu Cheng couldn’t help but smirk, “There, there, little pitiful one, don’t feel bad. I’m here to keep you company, aren’t I? Have you eaten? Shall I take you out for something to eat?”

“Not yet, Brother Yu, have you eaten?” Jiang Mianmian asked caringly.

“I haven’t eaten either. Let’s go, the two of us can go eat at the state-run restaurant near your home,” Yu Cheng suggested.

Jiang Mianmian nodded vigorously, “Yes, yes, that sounds great. Let’s go.”

The two hit it off right away, holding hands, and went out to eat.

After eating out, Yu Cheng took Jiang Mianmian to the Supply and Marketing Cooperative and bought lots of snacks before happily heading back.

In the afternoon, when Jiang Changhai and Su Wanyu returned and saw Yu Cheng, they were very happy.

“Buddy Yu, can you stay for several days this time?”

“I can stay for six days.”
