Chapter 756: Chapter 754: Of Course It’s Real
Jiang Mianmian: “Brother Yu, do you have something to tell me?”
Hearing Jiang Mianmian’s voice, Yu Cheng’s tone immediately softened, “Little Lamb, I’ll come to see you during the National Day holiday.”
“National Day? That’s just next month, that’s great!” Jiang Mianmian was very happy to hear that he would visit her.
Seeing her so happy, the fatigue from his training dissipated with her laughter.
The two of them chatted for a while longer and, seeing that it was getting late, they reluctantly ended the call.
Zhiwen, who had been listening nearby, said excitedly, “That’s great, Big Brother Yu is coming over for the National Day holiday, and we can play with him then.”
“Mm-hmm, it’s been so long since we’ve seen each other, I miss Big Brother Yu,” Zhiwu added.
Even though Yu Cheng wasn’t too fond of interacting with them, for some reason, Zhiwen and Zhiwu still liked playing with him. It was probably the admiration young kids have for impressive people.
The next morning, after breakfast, the children gathered at the entrance of the alley and noisily made their way to school.
A week passed quickly, and on Friday, Zhiwen and Zhiwu greeted Jiang Mianmian after school before running and stumbling back to Stone Bridge Village.
After so many years, this was the first time the brothers had been away from home for so long. They had started missing their family, and now that they had a break, they were anxious to get home.
As soon as they arrived, they shouted at the top of their lungs, “Granny, Mom, we’re back.”
“We’re on holiday,” Zhiwu joined in shouting.
“My dear grandsons are back, come here and let Granny have a look. Oh my, you’ve both gotten chubbier this week,” Zhang Guihua said with a face full of surprise as she hurried out of the house upon hearing their voices.
Sun Lixia followed a step behind, and seeing the old lady embracing Zhiwen, she went to hug Zhiwu, eyeing him up and down with a joyful: “You really have put on weight on that face.”
But, noticing that her son’s hair was a bit damp, she touched it and became distressed, “Come on, let’s go inside and talk. Did you get too hot on the way back?”
“It’s okay, my brother and I ate popsicles on our way back,” Zhiwu said with a grin.
Upon entering the house, Zhiwen and Zhiwu saw that all their family members were around and eagerly greeted them one by one.
Sun Lixia, looking at her two sons with concern, asked, “Zhiwen, Zhiwu, did you get used to staying at your uncle’s place? At school, is there anyone bullying you?”
Zhiwen shook his head: “Our classmates and teachers at school are all really nice. No one bullies us. They even envy us for having Mianmian, our genius little sister.”
Zhiwu, bursting with excitement, interjected, “Mom, let me tell you, our school is so big, and my uncle’s house is so nice, cool inside and no mosquitoes. The food at my uncle’s is so good, we always have rice for every meal, and every night we get to eat meat, sometimes even fish and prawns.”
“Really? That good? Meat every meal?” Hearing this, Sun Lixia asked with some surprise.
Her initial thought was that eating meat every two or three days would be enough. After all, with two more mouths to feed, if they were to eat meat every day, even if Eldest’s family earned a lot, they couldn’t afford to eat like that.
But she never expected that Eldest’s family would be so generous to actually stew meat every evening.
No wonder her sons had only been away for a week, and their small faces looked much rounder than before when they were at home.
Zhiwen nodded with absolute certainty, “Of course it’s true! The food at my uncle’s is really good. Sometimes, my uncle would even buy sodas and pastries from the Supply and Marketing Cooperative, just setting them on the coffee table for us to eat whenever we want.”
