Chapter 752: Chapter 750: Even Better Days

"Dad, starting this term, our school will have an extra class in the afternoon, and we’ll get out at 4:30 PM," Jiang Mianmian explained.

"Ah, an additional class, that’s fine; it’s good to learn more," Jiang Changhai was quite satisfied with this arrangement.

"Alright, Mianmian, Zhiwen, Zhiwu, get ready, it’s time for dinner," Su Wanyu came out, tidied up the dining table, and told everyone.

"Okay, Auntie, we’ll go wash our hands right now," Zhiwu said eagerly.

He had been hungry since school, and although he had an ice pop on the way, it hardly mattered to him.

When Zhiwen and Zhiwu finished washing their hands, they saw a table full of dishes.

"Wow, Auntie, dinner is so lavish today," Zhiwu leaned on the table, his eyes locked on the fish and meat, exclaimed in surprise.

"This is to welcome you two young guests. Your auntie specifically made a few extra dishes; see how good your auntie is to you," Jiang Changhai never missed an opportunity to tout his wife’s virtues.

Indeed, as soon as he said this, the two boys looked at Su Wanyu with stars in their eyes, moved, and said, "Auntie, you’re so good to us. When we earn money later, we’ll buy you lots and lots of delicious food."

"Oh, I’ll be waiting for your filial piety then," Su Wanyu’s face lit up with joy at the boys’ flattery.

Although she knew the boys were sweet-talking her because they loved the food, she enjoyed hearing nice words—everyone does.

However, the cunning old fox Jiang Changhai wasn’t swayed by their act; he had his darling daughter to dote on, and didn’t need these two mucky kids.

"Enough of the chit-chat, the rice is there; help yourselves," Jiang Changhai said after serving his wife and daughter and addressing the two boys.

"Alright," the boys didn’t feel any disparity in treatment and happily went to serve themselves.

Su Wanyu had prepared an especially sumptuous dinner, not only featuring fish and meat but also Mianmian’s favorite prawns.

The boys had never had such a feast before; they ate three bowls of rice before finally setting down their chopsticks.

"Um, Auntie, your cooking is so delicious," Zhiwen leaned back in his chair, rubbing his slightly bulging stomach, and said contentedly.

"Yes, Auntie, your food is the tastiest, much better than my mom’s," Zhiwu also sweet-talked with a grin.

"As long as you both enjoy it, that’s fine; but next time, just eat until you’re full, don’t overdo it. You’re young, don’t make yourselves sick," Su Wanyu advised.

"Yes, we understand," the brothers quickly nodded in agreement.

They really had eaten a bit too much and felt uncomfortable just sitting.

"Uncle, Auntie, is the life you’re living now what they call an ’Immortal’s life’ in the legends, with daily meals of rice and plenty of fish and meat?" Zhiwen asked the adults, blinking his big eyes curiously.

Listening to his question full of childlike wonder, Su Wanyu couldn’t help but laugh out loud: "Zhiwen, as long as you study hard, you can definitely have a better life than this in the future."

"Really? Auntie, a better life than this? I can’t even imagine what that could be," Zhiwen said, a bit lost.

Zhiwu shook his head naively: "I can’t imagine it either."

Seeing this, Jiang Mianmian crisply said, "Big brother, it’s like the days I described in my essay. As long as you study hard, you’ll surely live that kind of life in the future!"
