Chapter 246: Leaving for Japan
At night Ethan woke up and came out of his room.
As soon as he came out, Anna called him.
"Come here, child, and freshen up. I have made food for you."
Ethan looked nervous around them. Seeing his nervous appearance, Anna came to him and let him sit down on a chair.
"Ethan, we need to talk. Would you like to eat before we talk or after?"
Ethan said, "I’ll eat later."
Anna nodded. She also sat down on a chair in front of him.
"We would like to adopt you, Ethan."
Ethan gave a surprised expression so pure that Anna believed it was truly Ethan’s genuine surprise.
Anna said again, "We had a son at your age. But... anyway, would you be willing to acknowledge us as your family?"
Anna stopped after saying her piece.
Everyone was waiting to know Ethan’s answer.
Ethan looked directly into Anna’s eyes. "You know my situation."
He looked at Erina and started again, "You have a daughter too. Why would you risk your life for someone like me? Is it worth it to risk your family to accept someone like me into your beautiful family?"
Anna only gave him a firm look and said nothing.
Ethan asked, "Can I call you mother?"
Anna thought Ethan would refuse her, but when she heard the question, she teared up, this time with tears of happiness.
Erina also jumped up and down.
Then suddenly Albert appeared behind him.
Ethan acted like he didn’t see him and became utterly terrified.
But Albert smiled at him and said, "If she is your mother, I am your father. And your grandfather is taking rest in the room. And that is your sister Erina.
But we have a lot to talk about. I suggest you finish your dinner first."
Ethan looked at Anna. Anna gave him a reassuring look.
Ethan nodded and looked at Albert, "Okay, father."
Albert laughed out loudly hearing this. He also felt happy for some reason.
Erina came near Ethan and said softly, "I am Erina, brother. Your little sister."
Ethan smiled at her, "Hello, Erina."
Then he started eating.
After finishing the dinner, the whole family sat in a round table meeting.
There they told him about their past, but they skipped the part that they were cultivators.
It would only put Ethan in a more dangerous situation later.
Ethan was surprised to know that they were such a rich family, now trying to run from their enemies.
After the meeting was over, Ethan went to sleep in his room.
He was lying on his bed thinking that he would become an overlord in the shadows. He needed a reputation that would one day shake the multiverse, but he would keep that as a secret identity.
The ruler no one ever saw in the light. That type of existence. It would be fun.
Three days later,
Ethan started to talk with them more frequently.
He had become a lot more comfortable by then.
He also met the old man in the meantime. They had been living in this underground house for these three days, never going out.
They were waiting for something. A face mask that would help them change their appearance to some degree, which might give them a chance to avoid detection.
But those masks wouldn’t guarantee full success. Yet what could they do?
They didn’t tell any of this to Ethan, but Ethan overheard them.
Earl had arranged this a long time ago. The masks would be put in a certain place in Namibia, from where they would collect them and leave.
Now they had Ethan with them, who also had enemies.
Maybe that gang had the backing of a cultivator, who knew?
So Earl was thinking of contacting that man to create one more mask.
But what they didn’t know was that the person they were relying on had already betrayed them.
The place where the masks should have been delivered was disclosed to their enemies. Hundreds of cultivators were already waiting there to ambush them.
Ethan thought this waiting was boring. Why not create five masks himself, which would be infinitely more powerful than those on Earth, and let them use them?
But the problem was how would he give them to his family? He didn’t want to use memory manipulation on them.
That day, Earl contacted that man, and he said he had created five masks before, one for another person, and he would give that to them. They could collect them tomorrow.
Earl gave this happy news to his family.
Erina was the happiest. She couldn’t wait here any longer. It felt like a prison.
But at this moment, a call came to Earl’s phone, saying that the man had already placed them at the designated place since he knew the urgency.
This call was from Ethan. He did this because the call information was leaked. That man had leaked their location. The cultivators used encrypted phones. No one could learn their private records unless one betrayed another.
Earl felt a little odd about this phone call, but he had no other choice.
He would have to leave.
Soon the five of them came out from the house and went to the surface. It was nighttime.
They started moving toward the place. It was a tree in the middle of a forest in Namibia. They would need around two hours by walking.
Albert took Erina on his back so that they could move faster.
But then they remembered, Ethan was also a normal person.
Earl offered his back to Ethan.
Ethan didn’t show formality. After all, this old man was his grandpa.
He didn’t carry him on his back while he was young, so he should do it now.
They were now running at a very fast speed.
But Ethan knew that place was fully surrounded by hundreds of bugs.
Ethan snorted coldly.
Ethan snapped his fingers, and all 146 people hiding in different positions died instantly.
A sharp knife sliced through their throats in a blink.
Nobody even got a chance to blink.
Now his family could leave this place without any problems.
Ethan also knew there were no masks. That man fooled them.
Normally a cultivator wouldn’t break their oath. But maybe the situation made him do it. Ethan didn’t care. He had created five top-notch masks which could hide their identity even in front of a tier 16.
After reaching near the tree, Earl put Ethan down and went to find the product in a tree hole.
There he found a box as expected.
There were five masks inside the box.
Earl was extremely excited. He had a bad feeling that something unexpected might happen, but it didn’t.
Then Anna explained to Ethan that this mask was a technological miracle and it would help them conceal their identity.
Ethan nodded. He knew his product the best.
After wearing the masks, they used the faces they designed—the Japanese faces.
Soon five Japanese people appeared in their places.
Something was odd. This thing was too accurate, and even their body morphology seemed to change.
Did that man become this successful already creating this masterpieces?
Damn!
Albert said. Earl also nodded in astonishment.
It was time to leave. They needed to use that submarine of theirs to escape. It was a special submarine, specially created by their family.
