Chapter 185: Fight

Chapter 185: Fight

Yu Xuan focused every strike toward the chest — the heart region of the Mad Killer. His golden eyes glowed as he activated [Immortal’s Gaze], dissecting his opponent’s body with supernatural clarity.

By now, the fight had lasted far too long.

Both of them should have been exhausted, yet neither showed signs of slowing.

Yu Xuan’s case was unique: his cultivation technique gave him a terrifying recovery rate and bottomless stamina, while the Mad Killer’s physique was built to endure like a beast forged for war.

Still, the sight inside the guardian’s body puzzled him. The Mad Killer’s heart was literally black, pumping black blood.

That made sense.

What didn’t make sense was the aura. His slaughter intent radiated red, wild and blazing, in stark contrast to the darkness within.

’Strange... black within, red outside. Why?’ Yu Xuan wondered, but curiosity would have to wait.

The Mad Killer’s aura was no longer controlled. He was losing himself to slaughter, his sanity peeling away blow by blow. Yet in this madness lay danger; his strength was multiplying, each strike growing deadlier, the axe now capable of injuring Yu Xuan with a single clean hit.

At the same time, the frenzy created gaps in his defense. Gaps Yu Xuan was determined to exploit.

With a thought, his floating spear shot forward, scraping across the guardian’s right thigh. It left a deep scratch expanding the previous injury there, black blood spilling down Mad Killer’s leg.

The Mad Killer stomped the earth with explosive force, tearing craters beneath him as he vaulted high into the air. His movements were terrifyingly fast for his massive size. Yu Xuan narrowed his eyes.

’If this drags on any further, he might use a forbidden art. I can’t let him do that.’

A decision was made and then Yu Xuan recalled one floating spear into his off-hand. He tightened his grip, adjusted his stance, and with absolute precision hurled it at the Mad Killer’s injured thigh.

The weapon struck true this time, embedding itself deep into flesh.

"KHRRRRRAAAHHH!" The Mad Killer roared like a beast, blood spraying as his body jerked.

Yu Xuan seized the chance, his [Telekinesis] locking onto the embedded spear. With invisible force, he twisted and drove it deeper.

The guardian bellowed again and, snarling in rage, ripped the weapon from his own thigh. But instead of discarding it, he coated the stolen spear in his slaughter aura, the blade glowing with crimson malice.

"This is cheating," Yu Xuan muttered, his face dark with irritation. "That’s my spear!"

His opponent only smirked savagely.

Fine. If the Mad Killer wanted to use his weapon, then Yu Xuan would simply take advantage of it. He hurled the spear in his hand at the monster’s face, the strike lightning-fast. The Mad Killer reflexively used Yu Xuan’s own stolen spear to deflect the attack.

That was the opening Yu Xuan had been waiting for.

In a blur, he dashed forward, moving with impossible speed, his other floating spear slapping neatly into his hand as if it had been waiting for this moment. He thrust with all his strength, driving the weapon straight into the Mad Killer’s heart.

Black blood erupted, splattering across the ground. The Mad Killer’s roar shook the plains like thunder.

"KRRRAAAAAAAHHHH!"

But instead of collapsing, his slaughter aura detonated, blazing like an infernal cloak around his entire body. The spear lodged in his chest quivered as though it were melting inside him. With a mad glint in his red eyes abandoning the spear in his hand, the forth guardian swung a massive fist down.

The blow connected.

Yu Xuan was sent flying across the battlefield, skidding across torn earth. His body screamed with pain, his chest aching as the slaughter aura gnawed at his defenses.

"Urgh..." He groaned, pushing himself upright.

’That hurt. That slaughter aura... it’s even invading my body.’

He clenched his teeth, forcing his breathing steady. Across the battlefield, the Mad Killer stood trembling, black blood streaming freely, his eyes blazing crimson. He looked less like a guardian now and more like a beast driven entirely by instinct.

’He’s going berserk.’

Yu Xuan called upon his [Telekinesis] again. The two discarded spears quivered on the ground, then leapt back into the air, hovering at his sides. His golden gaze burned brighter, unyielding.

Across from him, the Mad Killer raised his head, his tusked face twisted, his eyes glowing red as rivers of black blood leaked from them.

The sight alone was enough to chill the air around them.

Yu Xuan didn’t hesitate. In the blink of an eye, he appeared right in front of the towering guardian, spear flashing as he thrust straight for the monster’s face.

The Fourth Guardian swung his colossal axe in a savage arc, the force of it splitting the air like thunder. Yu Xuan twisted aside, narrowly evading the strike as the blade cleaved a trench into the ground.

Now the tables had turned — Yu Xuan was on the offensive.

His spear lashed out again and again, stabbing like lightning. But he couldn’t afford recklessness.

The black blood gushing from the Mad Killer’s body hissed like acid wherever it landed, corroding earth, stone, and even the remains of Yu Xuan’s weapons slightly.

That was why, since the beginning of this clash, Yu Xuan had maintained a thin dome of [Telekinesis] around himself, an invisible shield. It kept the black blood at bay, repelling every stray droplet before it touched his skin or clothes. Without it, he would already have been reduced to nothing but bones.

But even with such caution, his strikes met fierce resistance. The Mad Killer’s axe intercepted his spear again and again, sending sparks flying, the sheer force shaking Yu Xuan’s arms.

The guardian’s eyes were almost blind with madness now, his movements unpredictable, each swing more feral than the last.

Yu Xuan narrowed his gaze.

’If this continues, he’ll tear himself apart, but he’ll take me with him.’

Making his choice, Yu Xuan suddenly broke away, leaping back several paces to open the distance. Then, with a surge of power, he bent his knees and launched himself high into the air.

From above, he looked down upon the raging beast of a guardian, spear in hand, golden eyes blazing like twin suns.
