Chapter 358: Relatively Normal
It had been just a quite a few days since I came back to Krara city after all that crap since the Coiled Moon festival. And I finally got some time to relax and rest and just hang out with my friends.
And when I told my friends what happened after I suddenly disappeared, in private of course, but the reveal of me being the Goddesses descendant.
I thought that when I told them that, they would change how they saw me or something. But no, not really. None of them really had a reason to.
For one, David was a Serpentar, so he worshipped a different Deity. Ashtraz wasn’t born of conventional means and so held no faith towards the Goddess. And Astryza just... Well, she kind just glossed over that fact, still wanting to see me as her big sister. Which I was more than happy to be.
As for what we did over the past couple of days, it was mostly just hanging out and chilling. David sadly had to work in the middle of that but we didn’t mind.
Oh, we did go to this newly opened game store yesterday. That was pretty cool. They had a small section dedicated to actual wares to buy, mostly just packs of playing cards with different styles, as well as a few small rule books for different games one could play with them.
Apparently, this was simply a starting point for them, and they would eventually come out with new games with completely different concepts. But for now, all they had were playing cards.
That was enough to get the whole city riled up and eager to try this out. Also, the store, if it could even be called that, was quite large, and the space that wasn’t made for selling its wares, were used to have tables on which you could actually play these games.
As for when we went, we had an awesome time playing with the cards that we each decided to get a pack each, and they were all very reasonably priced, especially for the quality of the card used in these playing cards.
Each pack had fifty-four cards, ranging from the numbers two to ten, with something called an ’ace’ representing the number one. Then there were the picture cards, representing a King, a Queen, and a Futaris. Then there were two ’chaos’ cards, which could have any number of purposes, depending on the game played.
And each of these packs had what were called ’suits’ which were basically just different symbols in the corner. Another thing of note was that they were split into two separate colours.
David got a basic styled pack, which just had a heart, diamond, clover and what also looked like a heart at first, but more closely resembled spaded demon tail. Those were his suits, and his colours were the most basic colours according the clerk we bought them from, those colours being black and red.
Ash and Asty both got a pack together. Theirs was purple and blue, with the same suits as David. So not much different from a normal pack aside from colours.
As for my pack, I decided to go with something a little more exotic if you will. The colours were purple and red. As for the suits, they were Fangs, Scales, Fire and Eyes. Bit odd, but who am I to question them.
Whilst there, we decided to play some games with the staff who were there to help us, or just about anyone who was willing to play and learn really, and had lots of fun playing against them.
Thankfully they were all patient in teaching us how to play, so we were able to grasp the concept of some of the more basic games.
Oh, we also picked up two of the manuals, the first explained how to play solo games, and the second taught us how to play various games with others, ranging from two to ten players.
Yesterday aside though, today we were in Davids room, currently gathered around a table with the deck sprawled across the table as we racked out brains to try and create some kind of game by ourselves.
It wasn’t going well though unfortunately and we failed to come up with anything, and in the end, we just decided to play one of the games already made for a little while.
Once we were done, we went and got some food before parting, each of us wanting to prepare for the Veil’s End festival, a festival that would start tomorrow, on the last day of the year, and go on till the sun rose the following morning.
The Sect did come by and ask me if I wanted to attend the festival over in the capital but I declined their offer, wanting to spend it with my friends here instead. They said it would be fine to bring them along but I once again declined, not wanting to get caught up in any shenanigans that might happen.
They were understanding and didn’t press the matter any further, which I was thankful for.
But when I told my friends later on with an offhanded comment about this interaction, they made a right fuss about it, claiming that they would’ve loved to have gone to the capital, not only for the festival, but also to see the capital itself after what I told them off it.
I felt kinda bad because I didn’t consider their feelings when I declined the invitation, only thinking about myself and my desire to not go there, because I knew I would just get dragged into something.
Something I should be more than capable of handling, but still. I never thought to ask them for their opinions. And while I tried to make the claim it was for their safety, I stopped talking halfway through because I knew it to be untrue. I just didn’t want to go back there.
Apologising, I explained to them the reasoning behind my decision and they forgave me, but made me promise to ask them next time something like this happened. Which I was of course more than happy to accept.
The rest of the day went by smoothly and we all finished preparing ourselves for the festival tomorrow.

It was now officially the last day of the year, and all of us had dressed for the occasion.
David was only wearing the upper part of a dark-grey suit because in his words, ’I couldn’t be asked to wear the leg pieces’. Which is whatever, this is a festival meant for everyone to just have fun, enjoy the moment and not worry about anything else.
Ash and Asty both decided to wear their own dresses, both being purple and blue respectively. And these weren’t all that high quality dressed either, just some generally decent quality dresses with some gemstone dusts sprinkled on here and there.
As for myself, I decided to finally wear one of those fancy magic dresses I had in my [Multi-Dimensional Storage] that was just gathering dust at this point. Not that dust could get in but you know what I’m trying to say.
Anyways, the dress was a simple yet intricate one that came with a pair of arm gloves to match. It was a solid red, similar to my scales but less shiny, except for some small rubies dotted around my waist. And just bellow that, a frilled skirt covering my lower half.
Overall, the three of us looked rather good. David looked like a dashing gentleman, provided you didn’t look down. Ash and Asty looked like an amazing couple together with their dresses. And I, well, according to my friends, looked like an absolute beauty.
Part of that might be because the dress I was wearing was increasing my stats a fair bit. [Charm] by five thousand, [MP] and [Magic] by ten thousand, and [Agility] by seven thousand.
That wasn’t important though. What was important was that we were all ready to go out and enjoy the festivities long into the night
